This is a Really Interesting little shop in the city. What I mean by this is that the coffee shop has surfboards on display for sale in this concrete city. I went into the shop and ordered an Espresso and she handed me a small cup espresso and another glass with sparkling water! What da I was confused to see sparkling water with my espresso. I was thrown off again but interested and asked why the sparkles. She advised me that its a palate thing and suppose to enhance the coffee taste. Okay going back to the surfboards not sure but I will definitely go back for another. I’m curious about their tea now.

Great coffee. Curteous barista. Very laid back and tucked away from the foot traffic.

Cool space, but the service and coffee could use a lot of work. I came here during the summer and we ordered a tea and a coffee. The coffee had way too much milk, you could barely taste the coffee. The tea options were very limited as well. The two girls at the counter were also just rude. They weren’t rude to our group directly but there was another group using the outdoor seating who moved a chair from the inside outdoors. Which I don’t think should be a huge issue especially since it was just us and that group, so there were plenty of opened seats inside. One of the girls told the group to consolidate and sit on just the two benches outside. And dragged the chair back in. Literally dragged… it was a very uncomfortable noise to have to bare through. The poor group was sitting on top of each other. Then she proceeds to complain to the other girl about how it’s rude for people to move around the furniture. I can understand why they want the ambiance to look a certain way, but no need to be rude to paying customers. I haven’t been back since and don’t plan on it after this experience.

Great espresso from Parlor coffee. Each shot ground on order. Time and care is taken into the preparation of every cup and the experience seems so much more personal than multi-location shoppes as there is only one barista working at a time. Parlor beans actually produce a strong cup of cappuccino, unlike weaker neighborhood competitors such as Irving Farm. Atmosphere is relaxed, surfy, and trendy. Yes, this is a bit of a ‘hipster’ establishment, but it very much welcomes persons of all lifestyles. They also sell fashion forward merch, Token surfboards, and other surf-related goods that rotate regularly. If you’re a local bring a mug for a discount or purchase a loyalty card for $ 40 with $ 50 worth of credit. Patronize Lost Weekend soon and often.

Ok, to get it out of the way I have no idea why they sell surf boards. I don’t understand, but I also don’t care. If you get a good barista, this is the best coffee in NYC. The slightly grumpy southern guy is seriously phenomenal. They will also allow you to spin through with your pup and always have a fresh water bowl outside.

I like Lost Weekend — I really appreciate the free wifi. But man, is this a coffee shop or a very corporate attempt to appear hipster while selling you expensive merchandise? Go to other places downtown.

I’m a regular, and will probably stay that way unless one of us go.

A spiritual haven in an otherwise congested and frustrating lower east side. A west coast wind welcomes you upon entering the well-situated shop and the coffee is remarkable. Good prices, great people, and an unpretentious air make for the perfect coffee shop.

The name says it all. You might just find that you have lost your weekend after walking in here, or at least half of it, sipping delicious coffee drinks, nibbling yummy pastries, chatting with the bearded barista or your friend at the big table, or people watching outside. You are in the LES, after all! Coffee, chocolate, ladies and, believe it or not, surf boards! More my reviews at

I work in the area often, so me and coworkers will go grab coffee in the afternoon, every day. There’s a lot to choose from in this area, and while Lost Weekend has its fans, I’m not one of them. I don’t mind the atmosphere. It’s a surf shop, so seating is limited and isn’t quite a place to hang out for 10 hours a day. Go elsewhere for that(personally I don’t understand taking up a seat in a coffee shop from opening to close, so this is not a minus for me). The staff has been nothing but nice to me, and make friendly conversation. Maybe I have a way with people. Now the coffee. This is why I’m not a fan. It’s objectively more on the bitter side, and gritty(which I don’t mind since I’m a french press kinda girl). I don’t know what else to say, it’s bitter and I don’t quite like their style of coffee. Everything is just«ok» to me. I’ve tried the lattes, mochas, and french press. In contrast, there are some other cafes in the area with amazing coffee. I don’t have much against Lost Weekend, but it’s not my first choice in the area.

I’d heard this was a good spot for a quality latte and was not disappointed. Alex the barista was super detail-oriented and knowledgeable about the different whole beans they had available for sale and the latte he made me was every bit as perfect as the ones I’ve had recently at Stumptown and Blue Bottle. I’ll be back for sure the next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars for this place. On the one hand, I’m not quite sure what they’re going for with the concept — there’s not a ton of comfortable space to relax/work/chat, and the surf-shop boutique items are a little odd and probably don’t move off the shelves very quickly, to put it mildly. But on the other hand, this is a coffee shop, and the coffee was really good. My latte was probably slightly on the milky side for me, but you could taste the quality. Worth a stop-in if you’re on the lower east side.

Cute place, and very conveniently situated right next to our airbnb, but the coffee sucked. I got the french press coffee and you could tell that the beans were stale. The cappuccino we got was also not made from fresh beans and there was way too much milk in it.

This place was weird. Wanted to like it but the guy behind the counter was condescending and rude-I made light conversation but he wasnt having it. When I went back to my photoshoot the people in the studio told me the guys at this place were also rude to them. When i was walking out with coffee a bunch of hipster bro guys walked in super happy and the guy behind the counter completely changed. Its just clicky I suppose. Its a pitty this overpriced place is so uninviting. And the coffee was average.

Came to hide out from the cold last weekend … I couldn’t tell if it was a café or boutique or lounge … it definitely is putting forth good effort in trying for all 3… being a novice surfer, I was enchanted by the décor though it seemed to be for men only. The space is excellent for hanging, but limited to 2 high chairs, a handful around a common mess table, and a broken loveseat directly facing the door. I got a tall cup of tea for $ 4 which seems sufficient for a compact, warm and charming space in this area. Great concept, uncertain on its execution.

Surf shop/café. I love this place because the communal table is always open and the coffee is pretty stellar. Its a nice place to get a little work done. And being from LA, I totally love the vibe– makes me homesick

So it’s a surf themed coffee shop in nyc because… new yorkers wish they were in california sometimes too? It’s great that some of them are willing to admit it. I’m from California. It’s awesome there. You know that snowstorm from yesterday? Never happens in the Bay and sure, I guess it’s pretty, but you know what’s also pretty? 67 degree days in january. Anyways, state pride-y jokes aside this is a good coffee shop. The staff is super friendly, I do like the look, and my drip coffee was great. Don’t be fooled by the comfy looking red couch though, that thing has seen better days. like 20 years ago.

Updating to five stars. This is officially my favorite coffee shop in the city, possibly in the world. It’s never busy, and the staff is super chill. They recently made the switch from Blue Bottle to Parlor Coffee( ). I was a bit apprehensive, but after trying a latte I came bac the next day and picked up a bag of Guatemala Chichimes to pour over at home.

This place is awesome. I lived in the neighborhood for a while, but somehow never made it to @LostWeekendNYC while it was a handful of blocks away. Shame on me. It’s like my two favorite things collided and ended up in New York City: Southern California surf vibes + San Francisco coffee(Blue Bottle). Doesn’t get much better than that. Upon speaking with the owner of Lost Weekend, I had no clue they were the first place in the boroughs to serve Blue Bottle. From several folks I know serving their beans in the city, I’ve learned that not just anyone can start brewing their coffee. You have to get contractual permission from the overlords in the Bay Area, go through extensive training, etc… So the fact that they planted the first BB flag in Manhattan — well before they broke ground in Williamsburg or the High Line — is pretty remarkable. It’s a super comfy place to sip your morning Joe, rock some free wifi, listen to ska music, watch surf videos, or chill outside on a lazy weekend morning in Lower Manhattan. Now if only I could get my hands on some decent Mexican food, it’d be like I never left California at all!
