The service was very good, from seating to eating, they greeted me quickly. The sandwich, pastrami on rye, was a bit meh, not worth $ 19. The bread wasn’t true rye but a soft rye and didn’t have much rye taste which is party of the beauty of this combo. They also didn’t ask if is like it toasted. Had I know how soft it’d be, I’d definitely have gotten it toasted. The side, a tiny cup of cole slaw, should have also included a dollop of potato salad or some fries to round out the cost. And I can’t stand cheesecake which means I am unable to comment on that front. Based on the fact that Roxy is getting such awful reviews and Carnegie is closed temporarily, this was my only choice. And the only thing I really actually wanted, matzo ball soup, well, they had none. Though the belly is full, I’m disappointed with the food.

I stopped by Lindy’s on my way back to our hotel to grab 2 sandwiches for my husband and I. I usually go to Carnegie Deli but they have since closed down, $ 19 for a corned beef sandwich is just ridiculous. You are not Carnegie deli. But what was horrible, was the hostess or waitress Kathy, opening the display case of cake and cheesecakes and stealing a little nibble and popping it in her mouth. Right in front of me as I sat on a stool waiting for my food. I promptly cancelled the 2 pieces of cheesecake I had just ordered. The whole time I waited for my order she was pacing the store and chowing down. I cannot believe management allows this. Damn, I just read the other views, that just cost me $ 40.00 And management obviously does not care.

I came here for a quick breakfast before leaving New York and was pretty disappointed. I was pretty surprised to see that a normal breakfast costs almost as much as a dinner plate. $ 23 for 2 eggs, bacon, small side of hash browns, coffee/orange juice. Geezz. The place itself wasn’t the cleanest. The menu and table were pretty sticky. The waiter was ok. When I mean by ok, I mean he literally just took our order, brought us our food, and gave us the check. I wasn’t thrilled when he gave us the check he made it a point to underline that he wanted a 18% tip. Mmmm… I wouldn’t come again.

While the staff is nice, the food is average at best and costs double what it should. Best advice is to keep on walking. We stopped for breakfast. Three eggs and bacon was $ 18., and it came with French fries. Also, those were the smallest pieces of bacon I have ever seen. Also, the freshly made waffle was cold and had to be sent back.

Fair taste. My sausage links were burnt. Eggs ok. Two orders of eggs and french fries… french fries for breakfast… gimme a break. Price, $ 50 including tip and one coffee. I know closer to Times Square. So, walk a little, build up your appetite. Go to 8th or 9th street restaurants. Almost half the price and great food. Went to the Times Square Diner, which is no where close to Times Square, fantastic food and service. I give them a four star.

New York service. Cheesecake is good. Juniors is better. Apple pie on Pi Day was yummy.

Wish I could give this horrible tourist trap a negative star rating as it is the absolute worst restaurant ever, and extremely over-priced, $ 20 for an omelette? Are you kidding me?! Avoid this place at all costs!

Going to Lindy’s was awful experience. We went to this restaurant a few years ago and had the waffle sundaes and they were pretty good. We decided to go back to have an ice cream sandwich but had a horrible experience. We were a party of 6 and were seated pretty quickly, however we sat for 15+ minutes with not waiter attention, menus or water. We were finally given 2 menus to share amongst the 6 of us. We were ready to order and they said they were out of waffles and chocolate syrup. Since everything was overpriced we decided to leave without ordering. I would not recommend this place.

I swear they see the tourists coming… damn shame too! We are paying customers as much as a regular. We had terrible service food was mediocre and super greasy. The waitress didn’t check back after we finally got a simple fish sandwich & potato pancakes. Had to wait forever for our check. I could see a longer wait for things if they were busy but this was not the case at all. You attract more flies with honey than vinegar my mama always said. They need some real help in customer service. The suggested tip on the check bahaaa a joke. Maybe the cheesecake is great I have no idea & wouldn’t venture to ask it may have been another 30 mins & another 50 $.

Tourist trap. Very very expensive. $ 26 for a burger with no fries is outrageous. It’s so close to PennStation & the«Worlds Famous Cheesecake» caught our eye. Biggest mistake I made in NYC. Cheesecake was good but not for the price.

By Sunday we were all walked out and wanted something close to the hotel for breakfast. Our last meal before flying home. We did find a spot but the space was so overheated just waiting in line we knew it was too hot to be comfortable. Back out on the street walking toward Mid Town is spied Lindy’s. I have seen the larger version uptown and it’s always packed so we decided to give this a try. We should have left. Tired interior, dated and dingy, small space, and service sporadic. Only breakfast items are offered so getting the full menu was not possible. My companions seemed content so I was not going to go all Tasmanian. One ordered a toasted bagel, the other toasted bagle and bacon, the 3rd just a cup of tea and I the Lox and Bagle with onion and cream cheese. Only plain bagels are available at this store. There were also 2 diet cokes and one Blueberry Cheesecake. I’m a purist when it comes to CK but it was surprisingly tasty. No one was raving about food or service. When the CK came I was gobsmacked. 75.00 for this sad little meal. I guess they must get the unsuspecting from Penn Station to keep them in business. Next time I’ll get in a cab to go to my favorite spot. My bad.

Worst iced coffee I’ve had. Tasted like water. Unreasonably pricey. Rude waiters. Bad advertising

The one star is for the toast … Service shitty and rude … Every cup and silverware had something on it(eggy matter) … 5 in our party and we ordered breakfast items(eggs, omelette, pancake) and paid $ 100 … save your money and go to Friedman’s. Went to Friedman’s for brunch, same 5 people, rustic clean atmosphere, gourmet southern style breakfast items, wonderful service and $ 100! So worth the money and wait at Friedman’s(132 W 31st Street).

One word: bad! The very generic $ 21 fish sandwich is served on cold pumpernickel bread with packaged tarter sauce. Hubby ordered the pattie melt medium well. It was served(literally) raw. The waitress was nice enough, but EVERYTHING was dirty. I can only imagine this place is still in business because of Madison Square Garden!??

Way over priced. Mediocre omelette was about $ 17. Breakfast special named after one of the stars was $ 22 and wouldn’t even offer a complimentary refill of juice. Won’t go back.

STAYAWAY! Walk on. I know it’s New York City but this place is deceiving. It looks like a little greasy spoon where you can get bottomless coffee and a fry for a couple of bucks. I walked out of there minus $ 60 and indigestion. Not kidding. For what they charge, they could at least make an effort. The eggs were just-add-water a la summer camp food. Bacon = rubber. Coffee = nasty. The orange juice was good. I felt bad for the elderly staff that have probably worked there since it opened. They were nice. I had only gone because is was in the hotel where I stayed. Walk a block and get a decent meal for a decent buck.

12/14/2014 Late night stop. Had to check off NY Cheesecake and we did. Pretty expensive for a slice and coffee but it had to be done. Place was clean and the staff was, eh, «what are you gonna do, huh?»

We were heading to the Knicks games and stopped by since it was across the street. My first reaction — it was cute, run down but ok. The waiter took us to the back and sat us next to the kitchen door which was conveniently propped open so we got a sneak peak at how our food was cooked. I was highly highly disappointed to see that the so called cooks pulling pieces of meat and putting it in the microwave. definitely not worth the 20 or so that they were charging per meal. We ended up getting the fish platter and a steak sandwich. I was pretty disappointed when everything came out, portions were tiny and if not makes any sense the food just looked sad. My steak sandwich was nothing more than a plain hamburger with a piece of lettuce thrown on top. Needless to say I won’t be returned anytime soon.

As a tourist, I was trapped into this«tourist trap». I just wanted to have some more good New York cheesecake, but this place didn’t even live up to the chain Cheesecake Factory that we have here in LA. The cheesecake was way overpriced. $ 30 for 3 slices of cheesecake that around 10 of us shared? We didn’t even get to try a bite of each cheesecake because the slices were so small. Definitely not«world-famous cheesecake,» as they promote in the front of their store. The restaurant was just about almost empty and now I can see why. Good thing we only came because we needed to use a restroom… $ 30 to use a restroom with a snack.

I came here tonight just to try out their«World Famous Cheesecake» after having a strong craving for it. «World Famous Cheesecake»? More like, «World Mediocre Cheesecake». The cheesecake(if it even deserves to be called that) came out to a little over $ 9 per slice. Per slice! If I’m paying $ 9 for a slice of cheesecake, it better be a darn freakin’ good one! The only word that would suffice a description for this cheesecake is mushy. It was completely mushy and gooey, like it had been left out in room temperature for hours. There was no evident crust to the cheesecake, nor did the cheesecake taste«cheesy». It tasted like one of those failed Home Ec. class projects that you did in middle school. The blueberry compote also did not do the cheesecake any justice. It felt like it was just forced on there just so that they could charge an extra 2 dollars to call it a «blueberry cheesecake». The whole dessert was just extremely sloppy altogether. Do not waste your money here unless you’re into mediocrity and over-priced food. There are numerous places in the city where you can get an actual decent slice of cheesecake. Lindy’s isn’t one of those.
