Had high expectations for their food but sad to say it was disappointing. The prosciutto, pear, fig seemed promising but it was bland. The pear wasn’t sweet and the fig was barely present. The vegeterian quiche lacked seasoning and the accomodating salad was dull. The only«good» item was the lentil soup but the small serving was not worth the price. Would not come back to have a meal esp lunch being $ 50+ for two people.

Horrible customer service. Cashier paid no attention while taking my order. Then I asked again and agreed they do have what I was asking for … On top of that I asked for a plastic bag after she threw the bag on the counter and continued to talk.

There was a time when I was obsessed with the salad at Le Pain. After a time I found the same quality elsewhere for less. The food is very good. I’ve been to several of their locations. If you go during peak hours the dining becomes a communal adventure. I really don’t like rubbing elbows with someone I don’t know while I’m eating. These days when I go to Le Pain it is for the pastry counter. I get a little sweet treat and take it home. In summary it is a very nice neighborhood dining experience. It’s a matter of personal taste and in my case budget!

I have been eating at LPQ since it first opened nearly 20 years ago near the Met. It has been a favorite restaurant of mine and my family and has had a special place in our hearts for helping bring the organic food movement to the masses. The last two times I got coffee and pastries I was shocked but thought maybe their inferior quality was an anomaly. Today was the last straw. Pain au Raisin was tasteless with too much sugary sweet icing and I’ve had bettercoffee at diners(Café Au Lait tasted like a latter day Sanka)! Does anyone else know what is happening with this franchise? They better step up or they will be put out of business in no time in Fewd York.

Good food and good people. A little expensive, but worth it. The food is fresh, tasty and healthy. The portions are not small but the right amount of food for a healthy person.

I came here for lunch one day and was particularly hungry. I saw that Panzanella salad was on the the menu. I discussed my options with the friendly waiter and he told me between the two choices the Panzanella was the heartier. So expecting a true bread salad, I eagerly waited. What I got was an arugula salad, cucumber/mint/tomato, and less than 8 crunchy croutons. I don’t know if the chef even knows what a Panzanella salad is, but it’s certainly not an arugula salad with croutons. It was embarrassing. I asked the waiter about it and he said, «oh well that’s our interpretation of it here.» Okay. Just call it an arugula salad then. On the other hand, the avocado shrimp tartine is really delicious. Not $ 15 they were charging for it delicious, but it was good.

I ordered an almond milk latte and oatmeal with bananas and walnuts. I hate wasting food, but both items were so horrible and unpalatable I couldn’t muster to eat them. Only saving aspect was the customer service. The man on the counter even replaced my latte when I asked, sadly it was actually worse than the first. Tasted like muggy water with strange chunks of what I guess was powder milk. Also, the wifi didn’t work at all. Save yourself the money and eat somewhere else!

Food was good but service was mediocre. Jose L took forever to check in with me after he brought my food, didn’t bring me a fork with my dessert, and had to get flagged down to remember to bring the check. He brought my tart On a cheese plate and had to use his hand to keep it from flying when he stopped to place it on my table. Unfortunately he didn’t hold onto the whipped cream and that went flying onto the floor. The meal took twice as long as it should have.

Love this place ! It’s so cute! I really loved the ambiance and the wood furniture. Had a great café feel and enjoyed the relaxing music. But the menu was very small and more on the pricey side. I got an open sandwich kinda like a crostini and a fresh pressed juice which came up to $ 25! It was delicious and refreshing but thats really steep for these items. I’d come again but not often.

The portions are small, the prices are high. We ordered the Curry Chicken Salad open faced sandwich with a peach conserve on the side. It was very tasty and nice presentation, but keep in mind this is really not a lunch portion… it’s more a larger snack. Also ordered the Quiche Lorraine. Very small portion with a small salad on the plate to hide the fact that the quiche portion was so small. Again, tasty but small. Ambiance nice, but I still give this 3 stars because of portion size and pricey. It’s NYC priced next to the hospital. I would think the hospital traffic of people could maybe bring down the prices a bit, but the rent for this place must be outrageous. Shout out to our waiter Jose L. He was very friendly and our food was delivered promptly.

I’m not a fan of this Le Pain Quotidien. They charged me more than $ 3 for a cup of drip coffee… yikes! It’s good, but that doesn’t merit gourmet prices especially at a chain. And I swear that this is $ 1 more than what they charged me at a LPQ location closer to 86th street. The worst part of this coffee takeout experience is that the lid they gave me was defective. The coffee leaked all down the side of the cup and spilled on me twice when I was trying to take a sip. Not a good start to my Monday :(

Drove through NY on our way West from Boston and stopped at this location. I’ve never heard of it, but apparently it’s a chain of what appears to be French food. It was just an okay experience and left a lot to be desired. Visually, the place is beautifully decorated and has a nice food set up/display. The menu is small, mainly with pastries but nothing that looked or ended up being too filling or savory. We ordered a coffee, hot chocolate, a ham & cheese croissant and a chocolate croissant. The hot chocolate was just okay — more bitter than sweet, which was surprising(and for me at least, upsetting). I don’t know how the ham & cheese croissant ended up tasting because we took the order to go and they had given us the wrong thing(a cheese croissant), which ended up being«meh». We ate in the corner then just went to the bagel shop down the street since the food we got at LPQ wasn’t very filling or good… I don’t know that I would come back here, as there seem to be many other places in the area that are not only better priced, but taste better and offer better service.

Went here for the first time. Located perfectly on a busy corner and near a station. Décor is cute and classy. Staff are quick and polite. AC was broken the day I went so that was unfortunate as it was 91 degrees out. However, food was still delicious. Expect to pay about $ 11-$ 16 per dish but it is worth it as you get a good portion and certainly will be satisfied eating just half. I ordered the popular Chicken and Fresh Mozzarella dish which was perfect. My friend had the Organic Quinoa Taboule which she states was very delicious and satisfying. As for drinks, we only had the mint lemonade but that was more than enough to quench our thirst for a hot summer’s day. Really loved the experience and the food.

Ack. One of the worst dining experiences. I and a friend came in for a light snack. We ordered avocado toast along with a cheese platter, and coffee. When we ordered, we believed we were ordering the $ 5 cheese platter. I have to say, the avocado toast was quite yummy, though pretty pricey for something I can make myself. The cheese platter was ok– just cheese and bread. Coffee was standard, it did the job. We were charged for a $ 15 cheese platter(what the heck) so we told the waiter of the mistake. He said that that’s what he had brought, and although he had got our order wrong we had still eaten it so we would have to pay it. What? What happened to the customer is always right! I wouldn’t have minded if the platter had been good, but it was literally 5 pieces of cheese and some bread… for $ 15… I asked him to call the manager, who was rude and said he couldn’t help us and then had the audacity to offer us more bread. No, I don’t want more bread, thank you very much. I realized that it wasn’t worth fighting so I paid and left. Needless to say I will not be back.

I finally gave in to the organic craze. Food is fresh ingredients. I went with the Cobb salad. I sure love avocados. Everything about the salad was yummy. The green juice is not for me but the apples helped me to drink the concoction. It’s not the kale, it’s me. Lol

I’m taking away a star because it annoys me that after so many reviews on Unilocal, mangement still doesn’t have a clue when it comes to training their staff properly. Service is friendlier, but when are they going to train their staff to become familiar with the coffee drinks and other food items? It’s fine to have new staff, but everytime I come here, 9 times out of 10, there is someone at the counter who clearly is new and needs to be trained. When I ask for an espresso, I shouldn’t have to say anything else, yet I was asked what type of milk I wanted. I ignored the question since a standard espresso doesn’t have milk in it. There is a guy who has been there for a while who always gawks at me when I come in either because he doesn’t think I should be eating there, or he’s shocked that I still frequent the place in spite of my «harsh» reviews. I’m sorry but the criticism is warranted. I run a business and I could never provide the type of customer service that this place does. Customer service doesn’t just include a smile. It also consists of getting orders out efficiently and knowing your product, and while the food is generally good here and the environment is tolerable, this place still isn’t quite as efficient. They always seem to be out of something here and it isn’t because so many people are ordering it. I know I shouldn’t come back here given my «high standards», but decent options are limited in the immediate area, so it’s this or nothing, otherwise I would go to Maison Keyser, which is on par with Le Pain Quotidien in terms of being more upscale.

Got a hot chocolate that was bland as sh*t. I guess it was dark chocolate. But no sugar. Guy told me to add sugar in it myself. Another reviewer said it was the best hot chocolate in the world. I guess that was another location of lpq. Croissant was supposed to be really popular as well. Batista told to me it was the most popular things. However when I ate it it was pretty normal. I paid $ 7 for a croissant and hot chocolate. I probably could have got a full omelette at another place

Came here for Brioche Buns to use as hamburger buns for 4th of July BBQ. LPQ’s buns are more like muffin or popover style, so we cut off the tops for the hamburgers and used the bottoms for french toast the next morning(see photos posted). A dozen cost about $ 42($ 3.50 per bun). While expensive, they were enjoyed by the party. I give this establishment 3 stars based on customer service(some are friendly some are okay) and price. Also, they don’t offer incentives for buying their coffee, while Champignon on Madison has coffee cards(10th cup is free).

When I approached the counter to place my order the staffer was present but unaware or just daydreaming, with his back turned to me. After a long and pregnant pause in time, he finally spun around looking surprised he took my order. Must have been an important text. A black medium coffee and a croissant later and I was on my way out the door. I stopped for a moment and took a look around the premises and was surprised by the unkempt conditions. Coffee spilled in places, from floor to coffee condiments station. Great coffee, but the least impressive LPQ I have ever been to.
