Just got a delivery of frozen burgers from the butcher there. Ok telling you they make them perfect. In the summer I wow people who come over with the perfect burgers off the grill. Do yourself a favor and order a dozen

Without a doubt my favorite restaurant in New York City. Delicious French flavors on a diverse menu. I ate the lamb shank last night and licked the bone clean. Maybe skip lunch today because you’re in for a big dinner treat!

Found a hair in my food and the manager(Sergio) was so rude and nasty. I was literally so thrown back from the way he reacted, insinuating I wanted a free steak. He said that I should have told him at the beginning but I was in middle of eating and just found the hair. I asked one of the waiters what the managers name was and he abruptly comes to the table and writes his name on the paper tablecloth«if you want to know my name ask me» then proceeds to say«you want my phone number too?». Worst attitude I can’t imagine how someone like this is in charge of running a restaurant. I will never come back here again, there are much better kosher steakhouses in the city. This place is gross

Le Marais is the definition of a(kosher) French steakhouse. When you first enter the restaurant you are welcomed by a «refrigerated buffet» of their signature meats– making it a unique and genuine steakhouse experience. As you walk towards the seating area, you most probably have to get through a small crowd waiting for their seats. They are always crowded– which only means their food is amazing. We were greeted by the hostess and immediately sat down at our seats. Keep in mind, always make a reservation at this place! If you don’t, you will be put on the seating list and can wait up to a half hour at the least. We ordered two appetizers, their chili morocaine(spiced lamb chili) and their croquettes de riz(fried rice balls with mushrooms). The lamb chili was amazing. My friend said it didn’t have enough salt but I was happy with it. It also included this crusty yummy piece of bread and guacamole– I wish they put more of that in there! The fried rice balls were a bad choice. It was literally a ball of rice surrounded by bread crumbs then fried. There was only a small hint of mushrooms. Waste of carbs and calories. For dinner, I ordered their classic steak with fries and salad(I substituted the fries with mashed potatoes) and my friend got the 16oz rib eye. My steak was decent; I wasn’t hungry much after the fried rice balls so I couldn’t enjoy it much. I only ended up eating a little less than half of the dish. My friend’s 16oz was beyond amazing! It had this completely different flavor to it and melted in your mouth. If I had a stomach like that I would have ordered that instead! All in all, a good experience. Definitely a must for people that keep kosher /kosher meat. The bill wasn’t that bad considering we had two appetizers, two drinks, and two meals. I will definitely be going back!

The Tournedos Le Marais was grainy and tough. The Chaussons aux Champignons(wild mushroom turnovers) were awful – looked, felt, and tasted like they came out of a store-brand mini-empanada box and then were over-cooked. Absolutely no redeeming qualities. The fries that accompanied the Tournedos were very good. Easily the best tasting dish was the Steak Tartare – it was flavorful, fresh, and delicious. I would not visit here again, but if I found myself here with friends, I’d stick to tartare and fries!

Pretty much the standard for a kosher steak in Manhattan. You know you’re going to Le Marais when it’s that buddy’s birthday and you want a place that can hold all of you comfortably. The service is incredibly quick, and the star dish is obviously their steak au poivre(black peppercorn). I choose medium and it’s so difficult getting anything else on the menu. I actually tried the burger recently, which was pretty solid. Underrated apps are the croquettes and the beef jerky, and their bread is crusty and always fresh. Although it is a solid value for reliable kosher food, the prices seem to have creeped up in recent years. I remember spending around $ 60/person, but seems I’ve been paying upwards of $ 90/person especially when ordering apps and alcohol. Wine prices are inflated, like anywhere else. That said, Le Marais is reliable and I recommend it if you’re looking to get some great kosher food without busting your bank account.

Great steakhouse for Jews! They have all kinds of high quality meat. We had a decent steak fries and salad which was definitely worth the price we paid for it $ 26 a dish and $ 100 for the entire meal(including tip) The steak came hot and cooked exactly the way it should be. They also offer Goldstar beer which put them in a whole different level compare to the other«wannabe Israeli steakhouse». Overall the service was good the meal was delicious and the price was more than fair for time square location. Cheers la Marais we :) We will definitely come back!

Came here during the lunch time Décor…maybe was good 20 years ago, was very weird to see the manager of the floor cleaning our table… you have a bus boy and a waiter standing in the back watching you while you doing it Nice size portions, ordered a lunch special burger and shared a platter of different meats, not bad not bad Burger was nice and juicy, perfectly cooked to medium Warm chocolate cake was alright, nothing special, it is almost the same everywhere… apple tart… naaaahhhh… Overpriced Not sure if will be back to try something else in this place

My daughter and I had one of the worst experiences on Wednesday evening, December 16, 2015. Waiting for friends to join us, my daughter, a young woman in her 20s with severe food allergies, ask the waiter about dishes that might be safely prepared for her. He was not sure, so asked the maître d’ to come over. When my daughter explained she was severely allergic to nuts and fish, he responded«I can’t turn my kitchen upside down.» I then said she was severely allergic and had had life-threatening reactions in the past. If it was not possible to accommodate her, he could’ve politely said so. Instead, when she then again glanced at the menu, he yelled at her and said«look at me when I’m talking to you. You’re the one with the food allergies. They are your allergies not mine.» Both of us were shocked. It was inconceivable that a maître d’ would ever speak to customers like this. We were in no way demanding or aggressive. We wanted to know whether this was possible. At that point, we stood up and walked out of the restaurant, contacting our friends to say that we should search for another venue. To put it mildly, this ruined our evening. We will never go to that restaurant again, and families who might have a member with food allergy should be aware of how we were treated. Jerome G.

Stopped in for a steak Frites and a glass of Rioja. It was 4:30, so well before the theater time crunch. I’ve been coming here for 20 years. The last time was about 5 years back. Some things have declined, sad to say. The salad, an essential part of a nice steaks frites, used to be perfectly seasoned and dressed. This time, it was underdressed. The china service has changed to a rectangular plate and the meat now rests on top of the fries. If you like juice laden fries, you won’t mind the change. If you like them crisp, not so much. The wine tasted oxidized and harsh. And the steak – well, I ordered it medium rare. It came out medium, but a true medium, so I could deal and was reasonably tender. But the steak itself had off flavors of an uncleaned grill, or of highly carbonized lava stones. Or perhaps there were gas flare ups and the grill cook didn’t move the steak. In any case, it spoiled things a bit. So this was really a 1.75 star meal. It used to be four stars here, because the kitchen managed to execute simple food well. I don’t know if that is no longer the case – but for my meal it was. I’m giving it two because the waiter was solicitous despite having a 14 top and other more lucrative tables. If I was just rating him, he’d have earned 3.75 stars.

I came here today for a business lunch. Our group was 11 people and the majority of us ordered steaks. We had gotten there before the rush and placed our order. We watched as everyone around us got their food even though they ordered after us. We checked in with the waiter to see where our food was. He said it was coming. He then came back and told us that our food was coming out. And it was no where in sight. Waited another 10 – 15 minutes and checked in with the waiter again. Our food came out. 3 people in my party cut into their steaks and they were still RAW! Considering it took them forever to cook our food, I would have expected it to be over cooked, not RARE. Steak was flavorless. Overall, not impressed.

Not too shabby for a kosher joint located just off Times Square. I loved that I could skate at Bryant Park and end a lovely winter evening with a warm meal shared with friends close to Times Square. The little secret on the menu is that you can order a small steak, about the size of four index cards laid flat, with a small salad and french fries, for $ 25. Except I did not order that. My friend did and her meal was delicious. I know cuz I traded dishes. I did not like the chicken I ordered. The classic hot chocolate cake with ice cream dessert totally hit the spot. Waitstaff was competent and was able to allocate the split check based on orders successfully, though it was a very busy night. Warm ambiance. I have fond memories there with my sister from a decade ago.

This place is just OK in my opinion. The nice part about it it’s in the center of Manhattan and it’s close to all the attractions that the city can offer. It’s a little on the pricey side but what do you expect for being Glatt Kosher and in Manhattan. I definitely would recommend if you like convenience.

Le Marais doesn’t disappoint. It’s a Kosher steakhouse in the heart of Times Square. My feelings about Times Square are no secret. I was unknowingly lured here, and I was disappointed. I had the Rib Eye and Mashed Potatoes. Both were really good, but the steak was AMAZING. Plus the house wine was great too!

I would say I was disappointed but that requires thinking highly of something in the first place. I read the Unilocal reviews before going and had low expectations but they managed to fail even those. Service was a bit slow and our waitress seemed to have never had beer before. Everyone had to repeat their drink order and eventually just point to the beer they wanted on the menu(for 7 people and 6 beers, it was almost funny). She didn’t know what an IPA was so good luck if you’re expecting advice on what to drink. I would write that off as an unfortunate distraction had the meal been any good. When you enter, you’re greeted by a small display case of the meat they sell(you know, so they can put«butcher» in the name) and there is a plate of amazing steaks that had to be prime grade. This got me excited because it’s hard to mess up a great steak. In fact, the less you do, the better it tastes. Alas, there is no possible way that I was served a steak that was in that case. My steak looked like a select-grade portion control cut sold from a restaurant supply store. My 16oz ribeye had hardly any cap on it and was the brownest medium-rare I’ve ever had. My only solace is that my employer was paying for the meal. I can’t imagine why anyone would eat here. New York is a huge place with amazing food. You can do better.

I have dined here twice, and I have a few issues with this restaurant. I would be comfortable with a 3 star during my first dining experience, and a solid 2 for my latest experience. Truthfully, I would never have come back here a second time, however, due to limited Kosher options in the theater district, I didn’t have much of a choice this particular evening. I will review my latest meal. I remember walking into the entrance and recalling that I almost slipped on the floor during my first visit. Sure enough, the floor was equally slippery. I’m not even sure how workers of this restaurant do not fall down, it seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. I was lead upstairs and seated promptly. While the waitress also promptly arrived to the table, she was very clearly unhappy. She never smiled, she grumpily demanded my ID, and she even sighed out loud while speaking. She seemed very displeased, instantaneously. I ordered the salmon, and when she asked me how I would like it cooked, I said medium well. Later, when inquiring about the status of the food, she said that because I ordered medium well instead of medium, it would take MUCH longer. I’m not an Iron Chef, but I’ve cooked salmon plenty of times, and the cooking times do not vary greatly between those temperatures. There were two times that I had to ask other servers/busboys to get me things. If the waitress’ body language could have spoken actual words, the words would have been«I hate you!» It was miserable to even have to ask her for things, and even more miserable that it seemed like I was a mere inconvenience to her. She spent a great portion of the meal in the bar area conversing with another co worker. At the end of the meal, she came and took the tip off of the table prematurely. I found her to be incredibly rude, and unrightfully so. I said please and thank you any time I asked for something, and it’s a shame she had such a bad attitude. On a good note, the bus boys and gentlemen who delivered the food were very gracious and friendly. I wish I could have tipped them instead.

I don’t know what everyone is complaining about! This place is great! Came here last night for my first kosher steak house experience. It’s actaully a French Kosher steak house to make things more interesting. You first walk in there is a legit butcher there for all your cuts of meat. Really makes you feel like the meat is very fresh– in which it is. The vibe is a old school steak house with an upstairs and a dowstairs. We sat upstairs which tends to be quieter. Service was great– very attentive and no issues with that. This place does not have the typical steak house apps such as raw bar due to the Kosher law. I love new experiences and learning about religion and culture. We had the lamb chili and lamb sausage to start. The lamb chili was ammmazing. Just enough spicy and full of flavor. The lamb sausage was meh– too salty and strange flavor. Now on the to the main course– prime rib for one($ 49). Yummmm. I love any steak on the bone and this one comes on the bone. Makes it extra juicy and flavorful. My cut was delicious. Perfectly cooked to medium rare and perfectly seasoned. The fries and salad that come with the steak are delish. The fries are especially nom. Full bar and wine list are here! All very good of course. Can’t screw up alcohol. I also had the chocolate mousse for dessert which was standard delish. Creamy and chocolately with fresh whipped cream on top. All in all I had a great experience here and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a kosher steak house. Yum.

Garbage… This has got to be the worst kosher steak I have ever had it lacked flavor was over cooked and all the appetizers were okay. I also want to mention that as you eat the ground shakes beneath you. This restaurant is comical for how bad it was and for how expensive it was. I highly suggest you go somewhere else. One of the gentlemen at our table actually took the left over steak from everyone to give it to his dog because no one wanted theirs.
