I’ve gotten takeout here before. It was fine. Food not fantastic but good enough when I’m tired and want to grab something nearby. Today I was astonished by how they TREATED me. They overcharged me and under-gave me food. When I pointed out on the sign that they were wrong, they dishonestly laughed and said that the menu changed to today and treated me like I couldn’t read English. When I said that they were tricking me, the man and woman started offering me «free naan» and«free salad». Riggghhhht. Then they say that business is tough. I just want some dinner… It isn’t about the naan they didn’t want to give me. It was the integrity. I will NOT be back. They tried to cheat me, and when I pointed it out, the least they could do was apologize… but it doesn’t matter because there are so many other delicious places nearby! Go to Haandi where they respect you!!!

How can you serve microwaved naan and still be respectable in Little India?

I’m really disappointed. I stopped in to order vindaloo and they gave me curry. I may not be Indian but I know my sauces. Secondly, there was an inch of oil resting on top of the dsih after opening the container. I am not exaggerating. I soaked up as much as I could with 2 sheets of Bounty paper towels and after much of it was removed, I was missing half my dish. However, the curry, was in fact delicious, even though it was not what I had ordered.

This place feels like a true Indian«dhaba»(much more so than the so named restaurant down the street). They have a ready made set of a few dishes(usually a couple of veggies, a couple of meat, a couple of fish, and a couple of biryani rice dishes). While thats not always the most appetizing, the samples I have tried from Laziz have been relatively fresh, really tasty and very reasonably priced. I usually order a biryani and get some veggies on the side(they fluctuate between charging and not charging me for the latter). Its not the nicest atmosphere to sit down to eat in, but as a take out place this is the best bang for your buck youre going to find in Murray hill. Order right and you’ll have yourself a meal for two less than $ 15. Without compromising on flavor.

Here is a mainstay of my restaurant adventures — the inexpensive Indian(or Pakistani or Bangladeshi or whatever — it is easier to just say Indian) restaurant. The customer knows that for under $ 10, he will get a good, filling meal with a lot of vegetarian options, served with a big plate of basmati rice and a nice piece of naan. That is my idea of a good, inexpensive restaurant meal. Laziz got the job done. It is a new place in the Curry Hill neighborhood, and the owners seem to be aiming for the lower end of the market. Service was friendly and my stomach felt fine.

I was walking home from work and noticed this place, for the first time, several months ago. Usually, before I eat anywhere new, I check Unilocal. This time I did not, and so I missed reading about Sujash’s unfortunate experience at Laziz. Had I read her review, I never would have walked in the door(the power of Unilocal!)…but like I said, the battery on my phone was low and so I did not check. The place opened not too long ago and looked clean/new. When I arrived there were no other customers eating there. They have a hot bar with glass partition displaying all the food. A young woman served the prepared dishes to me… think Pakistani Tea House style. I was starved, and so ate it there, but told them to put it in a to go container(this way if it was disgusting, I could just make a run for it, and dispose of the food elsewhere). This was not the case! I actually finished everything on my plate. I have to say, the food was GOOD! For what this place is, I think it is good/decent cheap Indian food. And, needless to say, I did not get sick after.

This place looked clean and new, the owner said that they had just started a week ago. However, we got food poisoning after we ate here… please stay away.
