Compagnie has the most impressive wine list of any wine bar in NYC. I stopped in to discuss cation exchange capacity of Kimmeridgean soil as it pertains to calcium regulated nutrient uptake by the rootstock which affords Chablis it’s unique acidity and the head somm shared with me the following amazing wines: Meursault– if u want to experience the art of judicious application of pedunculate oak this premier cru competes head to head with puligny and chassagne. The note of crème brûlée is so beautifully subtle it taunts the pallet into craving the next sip before the outstanding 65 caudalie finish has completed an evolution that satisfies every notion of quality in wine. 1996 Bonnezeaux Château de Fesles– Loire at its absolute finest, this Chenin Blanc expresses its age with a remarkable aurulent hue somewhere between Indian gold and the polished bronze antique clock in the lobby of the Waldorf. Harvested using tries successives, multiple passes over the vineyard selecting only the ripest or botrytized grapes. This wine has high viscosity and excellent focus and presents a primary note of sundried golden raisin. Bourgogne passé tout grain, the only appellation in Burgundy that allows up to two thirds gamay. This wine was partly made with carbonic maceration and has refreshing acidity, is star bright, ruby red with ripe strawberry and red cherry. Try one of the many unfiltered wines by the glass to get a true sense of terroir and note the texture density and complexity non filtered wines possess as you say never again to SO2.

Came here the other night after work to meet a gf over drinks. The place is located on a side street, such may have accounted for the fact that the place wasn’t packed despite it being a Fri night. The bar is very quaint with a relaxed atmosphere. It’s not very loud, which is great when you’re trying to carry a conversation. We took a seat on couple easy chairs by the window and stayed for over three hours. We weren’t rushed and the service was impeccable– even though we were in a nook, the waitress would stop by to check in with us and to fill our water glasses. The food was pretty good, too. We ordered several dishes(tapas size) and my favorite was the hot wings spread. The dish is served as a spread, a very interesting concept, I thought. Wine selection is quite extensive and they have happy hours where each glass of wine is only $ 5! Love the place and would definitely stop by again!

Came here for my partners bday. Had a few appetizers and happy hour«champagne»(it was sparkling wine). I’d say definitely do yourself a favor and get the pâté and a glass of champagne. The beef tartar lacked an egg for extra flavor and moister so I’d say skip that. Overall I’d say it’s worth a trip(definitely make reservations).

The Quick: Fantastic high quality wine on happy hour until 7pm. Little bites are $ 5 during HH and not much more thereafter. Very quaint and romantic spot. Would return. The Details: My whole group(avid wine drinkers) was shocked by how good the happy hour wine was. We ordered a few snacks; the watermelon radish served with butter dip was strange, I would not order it again. The popcorn was very tasty and easy to share and the Buffalo chicken dip was delicious. Good spot for a date or girls night out. Pro Tip: They take reservations for happy hour if you’re with a group. I recommend this so you could sit on the comfy couches with little tables. The Damage: It seemed to be a good value, but we were all drunk when we left. Multiple bottles of wine, champagne, and snacks ~ $ 50 a person including tax and tip.

Interesting idea of having«mystery wines»; you get either a red or a white glass of wine($ 15) and if you guess which wine it is from the list of bottles(under $ 100), you get the bottle! Fun to sip and guess with friends/coworkers. Appetizers were very interesting as well — I’d recommend the special popcorn, as well as the cheese platter. it’s not your regular popcorn(well, it better not be if they’re charging over $ 5 for popcorn), trust me on this one. One thing i wouldn’t recommend is horseradish that comes with a dip — it was literally five small pieces of horseradish bits with a disproportionately large dip(which frankly wasn’t the greatest). Overall a great find. Not sure I would be returning if I had a large group of more than 10 people; but it’s a cozy date night/girl’s night out kind of place.

I loved in, my kind of place, service was excellent, the wine selection«forced» me to go out and seek out some bottles for my own collection. Granted it is a little bit on the pricier side, but its a value here imo to speak with people that are actually from where some of the wine has been produced and gain an informal education on a wonderful subject. I’m not going to write in too much detail here on the food(except for the chicken liver mousse, which is an absolute must), as we sampled almost everything and liked it all, just depends on what wine you will be ordering.

In town for a couple of days and was meeting a friend who lives in NYC who recommended this place. Awesome! A very unassuming interior but as soon as you walk in you are transported to a very cool vibe — brick walls, cozy, comfortable seating, friendly service. Great food and wine top it off. I had the house rose(on happy hour!) and my friend had the house red — both from the south of France. The radish with brown butter and scallop crudo — again, both amazing. We both couldn’t stay long but I could see ordering everything on the menu. I really wanted to order the rabbit confit but that will have to wait until next time for sure!

This place was great. My coworkers and I went their happy hour, which is amazing — $ 5 wine! We got there early, around 5, when it was still empty. The place is adorable and the service was really good. It started getting full around 6, and the food people were getting around us looked good. We will definitely be back.

What a gem. Killer wines by the glass and bottle. Rotating selection but always great values and exceptional quality vino. They have a new chef who comes from Eleven Madison Park, and I think the head sommelier is from there too, so this is a lot of quality for such a small, cute spot.(The Buffalo Chicken Rillettes are incredible! Schmaltz Baguette o_o!!! Can’t wait to come back and try more food & wine!

Went last night and was blown away. The service, wine, and food were all fantastic. It was super comfortable, a gorgeous space, and had a wonderful energy in the air. I will definitely be back very soon. I started off with a sparkling rosé that the head sommelier helped me select. I moved on to reds — had a great glass from La Onda. Also fun was the Mystery Wine — you get a glass, and if you guess the wine from the regular list, you win the bottle. I did not win. The food was incredible — we tried almost everything. Highlights were the scallop crudo, whole roasted eggplant, and the chicken liver mousse. You should go run right now and get the chicken liver mousse. Really. I mean it. Go. Now. Go… now.

Short wine selection by the glass, is it a wine bar? poor food menu + really expensive for what it is size wise and quality wise.

La Compagnie is what wine dreams are made of. Came here on a date and had a fantastic time. The people really, really know their wines. I was in the mood for a light Italian red and our waiter recommended this chianti-esque wine(clearly I know my stuff…) and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It’s like he read my mind. He also recommended the prosciutto cotto and a cheese I can’t pronounce that paired fantastically. As many reviewers have said, it’s perfect for a date. The lighting is dim and sexy and the chairs are sink-in-good armchairs. Yet another Little Italy gem. **Make a reservation! We went at 6:30 on a Thursday and it was packed!

First time coming to a wine bar in Manhattan. This is really a nice place to enjoy a Friday night. My favorite wine: Château Fonroque

So, this quiet little bar that has no wait has now exploded. So make a reservation ahead of time. They haven’t increased wait staff in relation to popularity so also expect some wait. However, they are still as genial as ever & adorable The food is also AMAZING. this is not where you go to diet btw Chicken Pot Pie — check Toad hole — check cassoulet — yes the only thing i didn’t like very much was the cold pork shoulder but i was the outlier.

Love this spot. Definitely a hidden gem tucked away in the soho mess. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was amazing. The toad in the hole blew my mind. The dim lighting and plushy décor makes this spot ideal for one on ones especially dates.

As a wine bar, I think this is a beautiful new space in the Soho/Nolita area. It has quaint wall paper and a very nice, homey yet chic feel. Even though I did like this place, I like it more for drinks only. Although my beef tar-tare was amazing– my friend didn’t really enjoy her tuna tar-tare. The drinks were good and our server made great suggestions for wine and cheese. We originally came here for dinner, but the menu for food is still quite limited. I definitely suggest coming here for a drink and enjoying their wine selection. If you are looking for food, I wouldn’t come here if you are starving because the menu doesn’t have too many choices yet. Overall still enjoyed my experience here as a place for after work drinks, pretty relaxing and nice to know there are new spots opening up around this area!
