So I was looking for some good spanish food, now I am Dominican so it is always good to have something other than that. I love Venezulian food but have not had Salvadarenian food. The pupusas are soooooooo good and the sauce compliments it really well. I also had the steak with a salad on the side as well as tostones. The steak was cooked just right and the tostones were fresh and not old since they still had a nice crisp when i took a bite. Staff was very nice, quick and efficient. Will def be getting food from here next time.

For cheap eats in WaHi, look no further. The pupusas are stellar. Tostones and Maduros top notch. Bone up on your Spanish and come on uptown. And if you can make it for lunch, their lunch specials are unbelievably affordable.

Called my order in and I was told 20 minutes. Twenty minutes after I got there and they hadn’t even started making it yet. Twenty minutes after that I’m still waiting. Hopefully the food is worth the wait. Parking is terrible be prepared for that. Maybe leave someone outside while you pick up if you’re ordering for pickup.

I wish i found this place sooner. Wow i love the food. The steak has so much flavor and the pupusas are to die for. The prices are amazing for the quantity and quality of the food. The soup of res is a must try. Very delicious and healthy. However, the service is horrible. Although the waitress was nice she messed up a few times. She even forgot to place my dad’s order and he received the food when i was already done with mine. She forgot to bring things with our order a few times. The restaraunt wasn’t even full with many people. The place has a lot of seats and even a machine to select your own music. They do not play the music obnoxiously loud either. I would definitely return to try more dishes.

Was in the area at a wake and left super hungry. Wasn’t sure what to eat and this place was up the block from the funeral home. We checked Unilocal and decided to try it out. My sister’s fiancé is Salvadoran so we were happy eat some pupusas! The place is a super humble, hole in the wall type of place but don’t let that hold you back. I ordered beef soup since I was a little under the weather and it was so good. I had it with rice and it was filled with root vegetables like potato and cassava. I enjoyed it. I then tried a chicken pupusa and carne asada, both were delicious. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meal. Just a note the kitchen seemed a bit confused, they kept bringing out duplicates of what we ordered. We literally turned the waitress away 3 or 4 times because she was trying to serve us food we had already been given! Service is adequate but was pretty slow. Be prepared to flag down your waitress… –despite all this, the food was great and worth it!

Simply incredible place. Affordable and delicious. Try stewed beef, you won’t be disappointed Service could be slightly faster, but it’s scarcely worth focusing on. I eat here almost every day!

Hands down best Pupusas! Try their sopa de res! It’s delicious! Expect to wait just a bit but the end product is well worth it! I always like to order a Tamal de pollo/Tamal de elote(sweet corn) since its fastest thing to get on the menu while I wait. Also ask for Julie! Fave waitress when I go there! The ppl that give this place bad reviews I really don’t get??. Maybe you’re just a tad bit too particular.

I’m in the neighborhood frequently. Pupusas supreme. The queso and queso with spinach are my favorites. Ordered Lemonade. Got more of a Limeade. OMG I am now a Limeade fan. Not sweet, tart, flushing my liver… Loving it. Winter is a approaching meaning hot soup. Get the beef soup!!!

I’ve been here a few times and it never disappoints! I love their pupusas revueltas(pork and cheese) and their breakfast plates. Their crema is so good, great on anything. Today we came for dinner and had the pupusas plus we shared the parrillada(pork chop, sausage and chicken). The portions are generous. Highly recommend.

This was my first time to visit salvadoran restaurant. It was really nice! It was even terribly crowded and waitress looked quite busy, but she was very kind. The food was tasty and cheap. I will visit this restaurant again. Combinations 7. Plato Tipico Salvadoreno: steak, pupusa, tamale all of these foods were wonderful! I will try again. Ceviche Mixto(mixed seafood ceviche): it was delicious but a little salty.

I’d rather make out with a Cabana boy than come back here. And I don’t even like boys like that. No matter what you may have been told. By me. In other reviews. This is one of my least fave places in Manhattan, in fact, in NYC. The service was gruff and unfriendly. They were very busy, so I understand. I feel like I was massively overcharged but from perusing the menu I think they’re just insanely overpriced. Their fried chicken taco was absolutely horrendous, it tasted like a non-Latin person made it using frozen stuff from their college dorm freezer. But it was made by Salvadoreans so I don’t get it. And don’t get me started on the Horchata. This must have been the worst, most sour-tasting, chalky horchata I’ve ever had. And a large Horchata, which was not that big, was *six freaking dollars and fifty cents* or something thereabouts. It takes a lot for me to give a 1 star rating but this place is a 1. Added one for not being a chain. Edit: I will return to try their pupusas and tamales someday, if only to see if I can bump that star rating up. I should have ordered what I like from Salvador instead of what I saw Unilocalers telling me to get! ;)

Place is small, but cute. Staff was very friendly. The pupusas were okay… I’ve definitely had better. They were freshly made, but bland in flavor. I added a ton of cabbage and sauce to it and still found it a bit bland. It was filling though. Would I go back… Nah! Nothing to rave about

Not the place to go if you are not there but if you are around definitely stop by for a lunch or dinner with traditional Salvadorian food! The staff is nice!

Great Salvadorian this is the second year in a row that I come here with my family to celebrate. They never disappoint you. The servers are friendly. There’s a bar in the back. Anything you order is satisfying and fills you up. And yes, you can order take out!

We found this place a couple of weeks back but didn’t get to try it until last night. We came here because I haven’t been in a salvarorean food restaurant in a while. The food here is expectacular. We ordered beans, chicken and cheese Pupusas which tasted amazing. I had an order of enchiladas which were also great. We got two lemonades, which were freshly made of real lemons not the artificial stuff every other place uses. The food was tasty and delicious and the price beyond affordable. We received great food and great quality service for a great price.
