Wonderful café and patisserie with a huge assortment of cakes. The man working that night very kindly and patiently described each and every cake to me. I have since forgotten all the names, but there was a coffee crème brûlée, a tiramisu, German chocolate, something with lemon, and a cake that was actually cream sandwiched between two meringues and coated in chocolate. I ordered a bunch. They are not cheap, but very tasty!

Cozy brunch place hidden between 10th&11th on 52nd. Large space, modern décor, sells French bakery on the side. Eggs Baltic were excellent. Also loved the Croque Madam.

Why must I always forget how watery the espresso is. And how quickly they make it. It’s a french café… I mean, not even the McDonald’s button-pusher works that fast. And I’m too much of a pushover to ask for something that’s as least on par with the coffee at the bodega across the street. I can see through my Americano. I mean, I know I was douche enough to get an Americano, but still — I can see right through it like a pond. I’m essentially writing this review to remind myself to stop being an idiot with my money at this place.

I have always been surprised at the quality and flavors of the food here. The staff is usually nice and even though the seating is not typical, it does the best with what it has. The only bad part is the price, which is about 20 percent more than. I care for. I understand that it’s mostly travelers that come here, so it’s okay to charge them more — but I want to come here too. If you didn’t have to tip, itd even out, but it’s NYC so you gotta not be so French I guess. Best almond croissant I’ve had.

My boyfriend and I are in town for the weekend and we’ve been to New York a couple of times and wanted a nice quite breakfast. So we looked up this place had great reviews. I must agree. We ordered croque Madame, which was amazing and the eggs Benedict with salmon, which was also great! For dessert we shared the chocolate croissant!!! Cute, nice place and yummy!

Had the chance to make a visit to La Bergamote two weekends ago for brunch with a friend and it exceeded my expectations! The atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant with lots of lighting. It would be a great place to go to do some reading or some work. Between the two of us, we ordered two coffees and shared the following: Croque Madame — Pretty good, maybe a bit too much toast for my liking. Omelette Epinard & Fromage — the omelette, salad, and potatoes were everything I expected. Pretty standard and comforting. Chocolate almond croissant — got this because I noticed a lot of previous reviews mentioned their signature croissant and it did not disappoint! Our waiter asked if we wanted to heat it up and we said yes and did not regret it. The croissant came hot and was very light, buttery, and sweet. The almonds were sprinkled on top alongside some powdered sugar. This croissant was the best part of our meal and I’ll be going back just to get this in the future. Overall, I really enjoyed my afternoon meal here and will be definitely be visiting it more often for the pleasant atmosphere and their delicious croissants. Looking forward to trying their other baked goods as well.

I came in for a coffee and a small french pastry, which were very good. The large cappuccino came in a big, heavy porcelain cup and it was really good. I am bot giving it 5 stars because they do not have wifi when it stated it had, so couldn’t stay and work.

Or frequented here multiple times and had a number of different experiences, and I’ll tell you why. If you’re coming for coffee and pastries — 5 stars all the way. The coffee and espresso are delicious and the pastries are as well, plus they’re adorable and great for gifts! They have a huge variety of pastries and cakes in the case and they’re all beautiful, and they do custom cakes as well. If you’re coming for breakfast, however, I’d give it 3 stars. Sitting outside in the sun is wonderful but the quality for what you’re paying is, well… eh. My croque madame was so-so, over toasted/dry and not enough cheese. The potatoes were good, and everything else we ordered was alright. Maybe lunch is more their thing, but I know bakery items certainly are. The eggs Benedict did look good, but none of us ordered them. I may try lunch here, but I’d say come for a latte and pastry!

Looking for a different place to eat early morning on a Saturday. Tucked away near a bunch of apartment complexes, this restaurant boasts a large selection of pastries and your usual fare of brunch items. Plenty of seating to start the day, though I was told the chef was running late — so I got a large latte($ 4) and a croissant($ 2.85) to start. Flaky and warm croissant, yet not as buttery as I would have hoped. Coffee is made well, not too bitter and didn’t require much added sugar. Once the chef arrived I ordered the Baked Eggs($ 15) — a casserole shaped dish with peppers, cheese, and bacon baked inside. Even with the bacon, the dish definitely needed more salt, and preferably more cheese. Satisfying meal overall that didn’t leave me too full. Not a bad brunch spot at all, especially with all the seating near the windows. Worth a second trip for the pastries.

Arrived on a cold afternoon. The coffee was great. The food was great. The hot chocolate was great. The staff were great. May have found a regular while in town. The Concorde chocolate dessert was tasty and the kids love the chocolate eclairs.

Nice little french place with an enticing display of pastries and a yummy lunch menu. I shared a charcuterie plate and a croque madame with my friend. The charcuterie plate could have been improved with some sweet components(jam maybe?) to counteract all the salted meats. The croque madame was amazing, the egg on top was perfect with a runny yolk, and it was perfect to share between the two of us. Such a shame that we were too full for any dessert as the display looked amazing!

A little bit off the beaten path, but La Bergamote serves a great French-style brunch. To start, obviously get a pastry, because duh, it’s a French bakery. I like the almond and chocolate croissant — and make sure you ask them to heat it up for you. For the main, they do a mean croque madame(I actually get mine vegetarian without ham, and it’s still really good), eggs baltic, and chives scrambled eggs for a slightly lighter dish. Everything is flavorful and the portion sizes are perfect(I guess that really is the secret to French people’s natural skinniness). The ambiance/décor is nothing special, but the service is always good and the wait is never too long.

Glad to find another hidden, great dessert spot in Hell’s kitchen. There are few bakeries in the area, but frankly none of them has pleased me except Amy’s Bread. La Bergamote is a good supplement or complement to Amy’s Bread for those who are looking for petite french style cakes and pastries. Napoleon is a must-try here. Soft, creamy and not overly sweet. Anything with chocolate is delish too. Unfortunately, no cheese cake here, but there are a plenty of other savory options that can fulfill your appetite! The only reason I’m rating 3 stars even though I was happy with desserts is that I haven’t tried that famous brunch menu yet(see, I’m a unbiased reviewer lol). Let me try once again for brunch and re-visit the rating with 4 stars. It’s not a matter of quality of this place, just a matter of timing.

Excellent little bakery. I was in the mood for a good decadent pastry one early morning, so I of course went to Unilocal to find some nearby places close to our hotel, that would potentially satisfy this craving. Needless to say, this place came up with some pleasantly stellar reviews, which eventually lead me over to this quaint little spot. I was immediately warmly greeted by the staff upon entering. All they pastries and desserts that faced me behind the glass windows, looked gorgeously appealing. I inquired about a few of the desserts with one of the extremely knowledgeable, friendly staff members. Thanks to him, I was lead in the right direction of what to order. I ordered one Bergamote Lemon. It consists of: bergamote mousse and lemon mousse. I also ordered a small cappuccino. Cappuccino and Bergamote were brought to me looking exquisitely beautiful. And, beautifully, superb tasting it was. Bergamote was delicately sweet, though rich in flavor and texture.; satisfying my dessert craving fabulously. Cappuccino was also quite good. Look forward to stopping in one day again.

Love this place for dessert, but was not too fond of the brunch menu. They didn’t have enough options! For dessert, my favorite was the Napolean. It was creamy and soft, which a bit of freshness from the raspberries. It was a bit messy though. The pistachio hazelnut mousse was also pretty decent. As for brunch, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of options. However, it was kept simple and fresh. I got the smoked salmon, which came with capers and fennel. The portion was small, so I had to order the eggs benedict, which were also good but nothing special. The freshly squeezed orange juice was amazing though.

Just returned from La Bergamote… feeling so satisfied! Delicious breakfast of fluffy scrambled eggs with swiss… melted in my mouth! Side of mouth-watering whole grain toast. Breakfast could not be breakfast without an almond croissant, along with a café au lait!!! Just LOVE this place!!! Ulia, wishing you the best in Miami, so sorry to see you go! Thanks for all the wonderful service at La Bergamote! We’ll miss you! Brought home almond croissants for our weekend… Yummmmmmmm!

La Bergamote about to have an influx of ladies brunchin’ alone. Came here by myself to brunch, taking after my friend who did the same the day before. It is a lovely, indulgent place to take your damn self for some good food and ambiance. Get a LARGE coffee. It comes in a cup that is the size of your face and you just want to put your head over it and smell it. They also have nondairy milk(almond & soy), just make sure to ask. I usually think salad is the enemy of joy but their Salade La Bergamote is awesome and would eat it again for sure. Lots of texture, lots of bite and flavor, didn’t need any protein to go in it because it was so good. The unassuming pistachio hazelnut cake is a must try. The waiter recommended it to me and it is right up your alley if you are a pistachio dessert fan. (if you sit near the window, you can use The Avalon’s free wifi hehehe)

I recommend: Vanilla éclair Wild mushroom omelette Napoleon Oh-la-la!!! I finally found a real éclair place in New York! Also found a great brunch spot, where you don’t have to wait for an hour to eat scrambled eggs AND an amazing pastry shop. Words can’t describe how much I loved this place. We had Sunday brunch here, the place was almost empty when we arrived(around 10.30). We ordered wild mushroom omelette and spinach and goat cheese omelette. Both were great, but I liked mushroom one better. I tried croissant, it was good, but pretty standard, didn’t feel fresh. But then I bought Napoleon and vanilla éclair to go. Oh my God!!! Hands down the best éclair I’ve had in NYC!!! I’m definitely coming back. They also have small cakes; will definitely grab one when we go to friends’ places. Really happy to have found this place!

I came here one Saturday to catch up with a friend and have brunch. I hadn’t heard much about the place, but it was a convenient location and the menu sounded like they had all the basics. When we got to the bakery/restaurant we asked for a table and were seated relatively quickly, which was good, since the first two places we tried had long wait times. There was nothing special about the décor or table arrangements. We were seated at a high top near the entrance. The group next to us was four people and the waitress suggested that one of the party sit on the window sill, which was a little strange, especially given that there were empty tables. Regardless, we were initially tended to relatively quickly, which was nice, but that was when things started to go sour. We had to stop our waitress several times to 1) ask for water, 2) ask for menus, 3) order coffee, 4) place or order, and 5) ask for more coffee. I’m not an impatient person, but I didn’t feel like were were tended to after were we seated. The lack of attention the waitress paid us was strike number one. I ordered the Eggs Baltic, which was a take on Eggs Benedict and my friend had the croque madame. I ordered a side of home fries because the menu clearly stated that the entrée did not come with home fries; I was shocked when my food came and I already had home fries on my plate. Why would a waitress allow someone to order home fries when their order already comes with it?! Strike number two. Then, when we asked for refills of our coffee, which were small to begin with, we were informed that there were no coffee refills. Strike number three. The food was average. It wasn’t bad enough to warrant a one star review on its own – but with the poor service, I can’t give it anything but one star. If this place is trying to make it feel like a café in Paris, I guess they’ve nailed it – they really play up that stereotype of Parisians acting snooty to Americans. Sorry, La Bergamote, but you struck out with me.
