the art exhibits they throw are pretty cool and most importantly, free! the library is very educational and packed with almost everything you would need to learn about Korean anything. Ms. Hwang YeonJi was also courteous and considerate.

Korean Cultural Service is awesome. There are KCS in other states such as Washington D. C and LA. If you love the Korean culture, then get on the email listing for Korean Cultural Service NY. They have so many different events every month. They have a really great library. I remember waiting in line in front of their office building for the KBS New York Korea Festival concert tickets. I love the free Korean movie screening every other Tuesday(every two weeks). While I’m learning Korean, I’m not fluent, so lucky the movie has English subtitles. Speaking of which, «Petty Romance» is playing this Tuesday ^_^

Went to a free screening of «Woman on the Beach»(Hong Sang-Soo) there last month. I simply adored the movie. Something like a light-hearted and more comical version of «The Woman is the Future of Man.» Way less depressing but somewhat too straight forward, I suppose. Some of the antics of the main character — a director trying to write a scenario at an off-season beach area — was utterly hilarious. I was laughing out loud half the time. Okay, enough about the movie. So, what of this Culture Club? To be honest, I didn’t get a very good look at what they were up to. But I have to just give it a 5-Star for what they are all about — at least one particular area that I’ve experienced. Free screenings of Korean Films that you can only get to by either buying DVDs or finding your way into one of the Korean Film Fests? How beautiful is that? It seemed as though not many people are aware of Korean Cultural Service’s offerings. On a Wed night, I was one of only two beings under the age of. .. say. .. 50. Haha, yeah, no kidding. The screening room — a large room with rows of stackable chairs — was filled with old folks, presumably from around the area. Good for them. But where the HECK are the Young Folk!!! Good thing the movie was a gem. I would have been utterly disappointed — in the poor showing of the young folk. Okay, I just personally appointed myself as the Advocate of Young Folk for Korean Cultural Service. Next time I attend a screening, I’ll make sure that there are at least 3 young folk present, including myself. Yes, the Advocate of Young Folk for Korean Cultural Service is now officially looking for volunteers. ..
