For a while, this understated Indonesian café/secret ramen restaurant* was my go-to for a midday mood enhancer. The drink people talk about here is the Es Alpukat, a layered avocado/espresso concoction. I tried another of their specialty drinks — the Hot Bandrek involves ginger, cloves, cayenne, cinnamon, and sugar — and it was so cloyingly sweet I got a headache. I only ever get lattes here anymore. Lattes are decent, and the price is right when using the Cups app(message me for a discount code!). Beyond that, Kopi Kopi is charming as all heck, and exactly what you want when scoping out a coffeeshop to park yourself. Always plenty of seats, never a line. It’s a quiet cavern of a place where you can meet a friend and chat quietly over caffeine, or otherwise bring your laptop and work, without feeling like you’re infringing on something or being driven insane by espresso machine noise or other people vocal-fry-ing loudly about their brunch plans. * There’s a dining room in the back beyond the«café» part where they serve Indonesian food. It’s also home to a supposedly«secret» ramen restaurant, but I sense that having a sandwich board outside announcing its existence disqualifies something from being«secret.»

The space is big here with many tables available. Both coffee and meals are available. I got the avocado coffee thing, which is surprisingly good! The barista is also great to accommodate my requests such as skim milk, no cream, no sugar blahhh. Anyway, it’s great and I’m sure the normal one with condensed milk is even better tasting.

Nice small and warm place. Didn’t try the food as my friends wanted a coffee and I didn’t have an appetite. but the chocolate chip cookie called my name and I’m glad I listened. Very good, but yes I know this isn’t a bakery place so the next time I come will try the other offerings

This place is so hip & cute! Unfortunately, they are still working on their Indonesian menu, so the Indo food was very limited. My family & I decided to order the nasi goreng, chicken rice bowl & shio ramen. Everything was soooooo delicious! I also order the Es Kopi Susu & it was just like how they make it in Indonesia. I would definitely come again & recommend to anyone.

I come here only for the Es alpukat drink. Avocado, espresso, milk and chocolate sounds gross but it is so delicious: Smooth, sweet, and mild. I like to take mine to go and enjoy in the shade at Washington Square Park on a nice day.

Start your morning with Kopi Kopi. Who’s up for Indonesian coffee? Kopi means«coffee» in Bahasa Indonesia, go figure. Get the Kopi Susu($ 4.50; credit accepted), it’s a calming coffee with condensed milk at the bottom. Stir in as much as you want to drink. If you stir it all in, diabeetus. Shout out to barista Evelyn for taking me out of my comfort zone and introducing me to their coffee with coconut milk. It’s sweeter than what I usually drink, but it’s a welcome treat once in awhile. If you visit later in the day, you can enjoy a bowl of ramen or get a drink here. Yes, they have a bar.(I haven’t done either there — yet.)

Was waiting for my friends and decided to hop on Unilocal to find out what people thought was good, which I’m glad i did! Found out about the cups app and signed up for it right away for a $ 10 discount off my 5 cup plan. Essentially I got 3 cups of coffee for what, $ 5? One of them was the es alkupat which so many people talked about. I love avocado and I think you can’t really go wrong with anything that has avocado in it, but having it with coffee was new to me. Avocado + coffee meant a creamy, fragrant beverage that is definitely something out of the ordinary and worth trying! Chill ambience for catching up with friends /studying! If anyone is interested, you can use the code kc513 in cups and get $ 10 off. Helps me too!

Kopi Kopi is one of the Cups app partners in the area, and I was in dire need of a mid-afternoon pick-me-up before a full evening of classes. After taking a look at the options on Unilocal/Cups, I decided to stop in and try the es alkaput. I’m a fan of coffee and a fan of avocado, so I didn’t think I could go wrong with that! BTW, with the cups app, I pretty much paid less than $ 3 for a $ 7 drink! I’m a fan of their drink menu, as they have quite a few unique offers — including a ginger brew, the kopi susu, es serut, etc. — along with the regular espresso drinks. My es alkaput was beautifully presented, and I was surprised at how well the avocado went with the espresso; I think the creaminess of the avocado, more than the flavor itself, was what I noticed. I also got a good jolt of energy from the espresso — which was surprising since I don’t usually feel anything from coffee. A few FYIs if you are looking for a place to study: many of the tables and chairs are super wobbly and unstable, and the internet is a little tricky to get into… there’s at least one page that you have to X out of in order to continue, and you have to make sure you get all the way to the point that you can hit ‘done’ before you can connect to the internet. Most patrons seem to come here to socialize, so there can be quite a bit of chatter. I think I’ve found my new hangout spot around campus though. Can’t wait to bring friends here!

Love the avocado espresso drink. Not sure what it’s called. I think you must love avocados and coffee to like this but I may be a little obsessed with both! Cool place in a easy location that has a nice quiet vibe.

What not to like. A pot of Kopi Luwak for $ 25. Some big portion ramen that’s between good to great. Manager is super friendly, and knowledgeable. It’s well managed, but with neighborhood place feel to it.

I love this place for coffee — very fast, very friendly service, and the coffee is really good. I’ve gone at all different times in the day, and it’s never too crowded. I’ve been using the cups app, which also works very well, and is way faster than other payment methods — so that is recommended too. Enjoy!

The(Banjigur)coffee with coconut milk is tasty but I wasn’t expecting sweetened. Very much like a cubano. The server wasn’t so helpful in explaining things so a sweetened drink is what I ended with, never what I want. But I went with it and it was tasty enough. The ginger brew made with milk was wonderful. Highly recommend that. I’m sure when NYU is in full attendance this place is a madhouse. Worth checking out for a Indonesian take on coffee but there are many more great coffee places in NYC. Large, chunky cookies in the bake rack look amazing.

I came here with about 15 of my classmates, and they had a whole long table reserved for us in the back! I started off with the martabak telor(pan fried spring roll pastry) and soto ayam(a type of chicken soup). Both were great starters with lots of unique flavors to ‘em. For my main entrée, I got the nasi goreng(fried rice with chicken, sauteed shallots, sambal, etc). That was tasty as well! As for drinks, they were all unique, from the hudson river to the basil surf(which had coconut milk in it). Yummm!

Great noodles spot. Love that you have go thru the coffee shop to get to the noodles. Makes you feel like you’ve discover someone’s secret noodle hide out. We had chicken wings bursting with noodles. They had a fresh off the grill char taste that reminded me of the Korean kababs I get in Flushing. The ramen was on point. I had the spicy misu which very much misu while being very much ramen. Next time I’ll be more adventurous and go for the duck broth. Asahi on tap is hard to beat and the sake was good; although I’m certainly no expert, and reasonably price. Our server was personable and never stopped smiling… can’t wait to come back. Don H.

This morning was looking for a ramen spot. It took me a while to find it because it’s hidden behind a beautiful café. The gyoza wings were delicious and the shoyu duck broth was really rich and flavorful. You could obviously tell there’s no msg whatsoever. The server was really down to earth and happened to be the manager! Overall great ambience and I’ll definitely be back again, I loved it!

Okay place. Coffee bar area is spacious, comfortable seats, could use more power outlets. Barista was accommodating. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the famed Pisang Molen at 6pm on a Thursday. But the Indonesian Black Vanilla tea was delicious on its own. The Hot Bandrek with Almond milk was quite interesting. I liked it. The bathroom was clean, though not structured well. The toilet it set in too far, so that the handicap bar overlaps, causing you to have to sit at an angle or tilt. The hand dryer is also recessed too far into the wall, making it a bit awkward to use. Peaked into the restaurant, which looked a bit tight in terms of table spacing… though I am rather curious to try that menu… Would return.

The coffee is kinda overpriced here. I paid over 3 dollars for an americano and over 5 for an iced latte. Make sure you use your NYUID for a discount. I only gave this place 4 stars because it’s a great coffee shop to work in. The wifi is solid and there are outlets right next to the tables. Kopi Kopi is relatively quiet and they close really late for a café(10PM). However, If I were grabbing coffee to go, I would rather go to Dunkin Donuts next door. Much cheaper.

Love this place, makes me want to be a NYU student even though I grew up in NYC and that’s the last place that I would have ever wanted to attend due to having to stay at home. But if I lived nearby instead of where I live now with the trashy bridge and tunnel set of NJ I would be having coffee here all the time. Great ambiance, terrific coffee.

I ordered the chicken wrap with peanut sauce and avocado via Unilocal’s online ordering. It was great and they even gave me the avocado for free! I picked it up and enjoyed my lunch in Washington Square Park. Everything was fresh and I’ll make sure to come back.

I saw nothing missing. Check-out was smooth, workers were accommodating, food was made quickly. As you can see from the pictures, you can have your choice of a small coffee with a croissant,(or, if you demand protein in the morning like I do), get a super filling breakfast meal. It was delicious. The cappuccino was smooth as well. I wasn’t sure what to order at first but the guy at the cash register was patient in helping me decide. Having a water dispenser out for people was also nice, not a lot of places do that. A small but memorable cherry on top. Bring your date here! I certainly did. It was a great time.

I tried the es alkupat and was impressed at how unique the drink was. I’d never imagine that coffee and avocado could go well together. It comes in decaff too. I do wish the drink was a bit bigger though, and that they add in more avocado so it wasn’t all coffee flavor after the first 3 sips. The place itself is laid back, a nice place for NYU students to hang out or do some work. I’d love to come back here again and try their food items. Also, come here with the CUPS app! The es alkupat was about $ 7, but I paid a little over $ 1 for it.

Not sure where to begin… I think this place works great as a coffee shop, but being accidentally led here by Unilocal thinking of it as a restaurant was a bad bad bad idea. We walked in and didn’t know what to do as the tables were either occupied or had leftover dishes, and there was no one to seat you. We contemplated leaving before the lady whom I believe is the owner came by to seat us and cleared off some plates. The menu had a small selection, which is fine as a café but I think this place was very mislabeled as a restaurant because not only was the selection small, but the food was not flavorful and expensive for the small portion you got. On the bright side — It was so bland that I decided to try making my own Indonesian dishes at home. After we got seated, the service was friendly but again — I would come back as a café but never for the good.

I got the Es Alkupat which was interesting. I couldn’t taste much of the avocado but I thought it was yummy chugged it down. The interior is pretty cozy for a group of 3 – 5 people. No laptop after 5pm. Did not enjoy the * brûlée cappuccino maybe coffee isn’t for me. Tastes bitter Otherwise great convenient spot for nyu students, behind Kimmel!!!

Came to grab lunch and got a rice dish, but it was pretty average. I wouldn’t recommend because there are so many other places to try in the area. Service is great and the place is big. I’d come back to try the coffee though.

I came here on a whim when I saw that Unilocal offered a $ 15 deal for a to-go lunch that included coffee, chicken fried rice, and a special dessert dish. The place is very cute and hipster; the open space, light, and décor give it quite a cheerful atmosphere. Definitely the type of coffee shop that you could plant yourself down for a few hours and work(which is what I did). The service was quick and polite(there was some confusion regarding the Unilocal deal, but we sorted it out). And the food was amazing. Granted, I don’t know much about Indonesian cuisine, but I know what I like, and Kopi Kopi served awesome food. The coffee was delicious. Deep and nutty. I didn’t realize you had to stir it fully to integrate the sweetened condensed milk in the bottom, but honestly, it tasted great not fully mixed. I typically take my coffee black anyway, and Kopi Kopi’s coffee was very nice and smooth. The fried rice, aside from being presented beautifully, was amazing. I haven’t had fried rice in a while, and it wasn’t too salty or «soy saucy,» as fried rice often tends to be. It was served with an egg(yolk was runny) and fried pork rinds, both of which contributed to a great combination of different textures. The flavoring was spot on too. As for the dessert, which was this warm dish of bananas and sweet potatoes in a coconut milk sauce… it was INCREDIBLE. By far the healthiest dessert I’ve ever had, and it tasted SOGOOD too. The coconut milk sauce was not too sweet at all, and really complimented the natural sweetness of the bananas and sweet potatoes. I would come back here JUST for the dessert. Great place — I cannot recommend it enough.

They played«Creep» on the sound system. When someone does that I know we’ll get along well. Spacious café. Lots of seats. Few people. Tea was fine; not my favorite but the cup got me all-access for a few hours of gaming. Pretty expensive coffees, I notice. Compares favorably with Brokelyn: less of the pretentious hipster music, less attitude, less obtuse menu. Close to NYU. Student crowd.

I actually just made a Unilocal because I hate this place so much. A friend and I were looking for a cute, spacious café with good coffee and food to get some work done, and we were hoping for just that when we read previous reviews and decided to visit yesterday. First thing, the staff consists of a bunch of immature frat boys or something? As I was ordering my food(Balinese chicken wing special) they were whispering to each other about another customer. Immature, but I didn’t think much of it. My friend ordered a taco special for 7 dollars. Everything was going fine, and we even found a nice table to pull out our laptops while we waited for our food. One of the frat boy servers is for some reason all over the place, hurriedly and thoughtlessly handing out food orders as if it was a full house, when reality there might have been about 10 or so customers in total, with only about 4 or 5 ordering anything. He comes and throws a miniscule plate with THETINIESTTACOS I’VEEVERSEEN. There was no description of the size or amount of tacos we’d be receiving on the daily special menu, but for 7 dollars we were in shock. They looked like they came out of an easy bake oven, it was unreal. He came over a little while after and threw another dish at us, which was not my order. Unless chicken wings at this place are supposed to be skewers? Instead of chicken wings with garlic kale and jasmine rice, I recieved three skewers and some lettuce on the side. My friend, already upset by her unrealistic portion, decided to give it one more shot by getting some iced coffee, and when ordering was interrupted by a man who came in asking for change. After hassling the workers, he turned to my friend and apparently threatened to kill her, to which the staff did not apologize or try to intervene and send him on his way. A+ SERVICEFRATBOYS. After that incident we were pretty much fed up and just left. So horrible, I’ve never had such bad service ever. If you’re just getting coffee and leaving, then this place is great! In terms of everything else, its unprofessional and it sucks. Never coming back here :)

Es Alkupat– I liked it! I wouldn’t say it is for everyone though. I can’t put words together to describe the taste, it was good but different. I thought the different flavors oddly complimented each other. I liked it when it was layered but then halfway through I wanted to taste what it was like mixed together. I suggest keeping it layered as log as possible because once it was mixed the flavors didn’t pair together in your mouth like they had… if that makes any sense. At $ 7 it was a bit pricey, though anything with avocado is. I came to Koopi Koopi strictly for the avocado drink… Only to find out what a nice place it is! It is a great place to come and get some work done with lots of space, clean bathrooms, and wifi. I didn’t try their food or other drinks but I’d like to. They also do happy hour on their beer and wine starting at 3!

How can I not give a place with a nice southern waiter at least 4 stars? He was super sweet and was happy to make recommendations. He also made us well aware of the happy hour! The best thing we ordered was the wings. They were super juicy and served with a sweet, yet zesty sauce. I couldn’t get enough of the sauce. These were pretty darn good. The entrees weren’t as good as the app, but they were still pleasant. The Nasi Goreng Chicken Satay was better than the Beef Rendang. The dish had a lot more flavor. You can’t really go wrong with fried rice with shallots, chili, eggs, and Indonesian sauce with some chicken satay mixed in. The Beef Rendang just didn’t hit the spot. The beef wasn’t as tender as I would have liked. The dish also lacked some flavor. While Kopi Kopi has a lot of things going for it, the spot is a bit confused. I wasn’t sure if I was in a coffee house or a restaurant. I think they’d get a lot more business if they simply dimmed the lights and lit up their chandelier instead.
