Had my hair colored by Marianna and I LOVE it! I have brown hair and wanted to go more caramel/blonde. She worked with both my natural color and an old color job I was growing out. It turned out beautiful! Shiny and sun-kissed. Also, spend the money and have her blow dry your hair. She does the BEST blow outs!

I was in NYC this past weekend for a yearly black tie event. Shannon did my hair and Kiril did my make up. I got so many compliments on my hair and make up. Kiril made me look natural but perfect for the affair. I already can’t wait for next year and how fantastic this team will have me. More expensive then Red Door but SO worth it.

I should begin by saying that I’m biased. My mom has been going to Kenneth Salon for YEARS for manicures, pedicures, waxings, and haircuts with Mr. Kenneth. I would regularly go with her to sit and watch as she got pampered, and Tanya(the wonderful manicurist who I now occasionally see) would give me a free little manicure of my own. That being said, here is my review. Kenneth’s is located in the Waldorf Astoria, and their space reflects that. It is a warm and somewhat ornate environment, but rather small in comparison to other salons I’ve seen. They offer a full range of services, however I now only go there for manis, pedis and waxings(having found my hairstylist Daniel who makes house calls!). The staff is very friendly and courteous and gives the customer what she(or he, they do offer men’s services) wants. They are professional and their services are very high quality, so of course you have to pay for that. So, its not surprising that most of their customers are wealthy, and probably older, women(and of course hotel guests, like the 20-odd group of clearly Mid-West debutantes I bemusedly watched primp and preen as they prepared for their ball one time). If you can afford it, its a wonderful place to go to, and they do accept walkins but I’d recommend making an appointment. But NYC has tons of equally nice places to go to where you can spend less and still enjoy yourself. (And yes, Kenneth was a hairstylist for both Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy)
