We stopped in for a cold drink on a hot afternoon. We are not familiar with East Village. We are from San Francisco, so we asked the bartender for some advice on things to do. Jessica was extremely helpful. She had some great, off the beaten path recommendations that were awesome. I am happy we went in and would recommend it for the service and sports games.

Great Bar! I stumbled upon this bar and I’m so happy I did. The drinks weren’t watered down, the bartenders were friendly and the vibe of the place was just amazing. Very chill.

This bar caters to Sabres, Bills, Cubs, and Bulls fans. What a mix! There are just enough TVs in the bar for everyone to have a view of the action. The bar itself is big enough to fit a decent crowd but small enough for maximum comradery. The best part though? The hockey table in the back! I had not played on something like that in years! Be careful on your way back though, the floor does have some dips and bumps. What about the drinks you say? Nothing out of this world, but all the standards are available. All in all a solid bar.

Stay far, far away. We went for an after hour drink and had an ok time. My girlfriend went to use the bathroom and was followed by an African American gentleman that invited her into the bathroom and told her«everything would be ok», he opened the door and there was anorher man waiting indide the bathroom, she ran upstairs and the owner said«I’m sorry but this is what happens after hours». Stay the F away from this place. There are rapists that wait for drunk women and the owner is ok with it because he is intimidated.

Another average downtown bar. Yes, it was extremely crowded due to a bar crawl event taking place, but despite the enormous crowd at the bar, service was decent, given the situation. Aside from the shenanigans filling the place because of the crawl, I can see Kelly’s being a pretty chill spot. They have big beer barrels to use as tables, and even have table top hockey in back. Pretty standard, but pretty chill.

Young bartender brought some energy on a random Monday night. Made time for every1 at the bar and had great recommendations. Tried murphys for the first time which is another«Irish Guinness». Was brilliant. Will be back!

Your average sports bar. TVs everywhere. Gets packed for certain sports events. Come here if you want to watch sports and drink beer,. do not order the food, it’s all frozen and either microwaved or heated in a toaster oven. They don’t mind if you have food delivered or you bring your own takeout. Lots of folks come in to play bubble hockey. Most of the bartenders are cool. Overall it’s an ok place to catch a game or two and grab a beer. And on a refreshing note it’s NOT hipster joint… yay for that ;-)

I came here on a Sunday afternoon to watch football. At 1PM on a Sunday afternoon, it’s just about impossible to get a seat at most of the bars in this area, but Kelly’s was only about ½ full. Part of this is because it is not as nice as a lot of the other spots around, but in this area, I value availablity of seats over niceness of the bar.

Not too much to say, but I am surprised more reviews don’t mention that this is a legit Chicago Cubs bar. Came here for a playoff game and it was rocking with people spilling out on to the streets. I like how the beer menu is posted super high up so that even with the crowds it was easy to see what they had for sale. Even with the huge crowd, it was easy to flag down the bartenders for a drink. New York Cubs fans(or Cubs fans traveling on business), this is the place to be for the game.

Where to begin… The bartender was very nice and polite. The place was clean and friendly BUT, they have no kitchen. When you order your food, they microwave it. I came here on a Sunday night with my boyfriend and a coworker. We all ordered food, since they microwave it– we each received our food separately which totally sucked. They also have packets of sauce. We each asked for ketchup and ranch sauce. He came by with a bucket and asked us how many packets we will be using –_–(like really?) The bartender was nice enough and catered to our needs. He lowered the music and put the tv up. 2 stars for the place and 3 stars for the bartender

Cool dive bar. Great place to watch Buffalo sports(Sabres and Bills).

It’s quite tiny but they do play the hockey game here & hockey fans will be here. Definitely a dive bar; I didn’t drink but heard no complaints on that subject or of issues with anyone.

This place is a great sports bar. It’s not too big, but there are plenty of TVs around the entire place. This is a Buffalo Sabres bar, as well as Liverpool, and a few other teams(I think Chicago as well). I came here to watch hockey playoffs and it actually wasn’t even on– the bartender was very gracious and put it on a few of the TVs! Good selection of beer and generally attracts a nice crowd, although being a sport bar, it does get rowdy. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and can’t find a bar that’ll play your game…

I’ve visited this place a couple months ago to watch the Arsenal game. It was noon time and the place was empty. It was just me, my friend and there was another lady at the bar. We ordered beers, fries and chicken wings. I kindly asked the Russian barmaid if she can plug in my phone to charge. Everything was just fine until the manager(or the owner) showed up. As I asked this guy if I can have my phone back, this angry Irishman started to trip and yell«who plugged this here!?» and she said she did. Then he started to plug out everything one by one with anger, then he turned and yelled at me; «I’m paying for the electricity!». Well, we didn’t end up fighting of course, I kept my cool and he left later on. He obviously needs an anger management. Actually he could also use some management courses. It’s a miracle to keep this cheap a** trashy bar in business for years anyway. =) Oh, by the way, chicken wings and fries were terrible, which I didn’t pay for…

Stumbled upon this place on a Friday night with a group of friends. Divey but very casual and comfortable. Food was also decent.

Local Buffalo fans bar. Basic but lots of TVs and great local flare. Cold beer. Appetizers straight from the freezer to the fryer but did I mention the beer is cold? Smallish place. Great charm though. They even had one of those old school hockey games where the guys spin around. Had a great time beating my daughter at hockey! Yeah Dad still rules.

I arrived at this bar at 6.30pm to watch a 7pm Rangers hockey game. Including me there were SIX people in the bar. I asked the guy behind the bar which screen would the Rangers be on. He told me so I sat there. Game starts 7pm. As it got closer to 8pm the bar gradually filled. It was close to the end of the 2nd period and another barman just changes my TV channel! I told him that I(& my couple of friends) were watching that. He said«there’s a lot of people here to watch another game» and wouldn’t change it back. WTF??? The bar has SEVENTV’S!!! Surely for someone who was in the bar before everyone else they could allow me to finish watching the game I’d been watching for an hour already. Disgrace. Couldn’t believe it. Sports bar my arse. Worst sports bar experience EVER

Legit Buffalo sports bar. Plays every Sabres game with sound and Sundays are great to watch the Bill’s game. $ 1.50 mugs and $ 3 PBRs are your best bet. Sundays, I go for the $ 25 buckets of blue. McFaddon’s is nice but this bar is actually all about Buffalo. The whole place is decorated with Bills and Sabres paraphernalia. If your from Buffalo, this is your bar to feel at home.

During a night that was not going as planned, me and my friend were desperately trying to get drunk. But it was after midnight on the Saturday before St. Pats, and even our divey standbys were obnoxious. Standing outside of a packed Double Down, we randomly decided to try one more bar before giving up and going home, and that bar just happened to be half empty Kelly’s. It was like a warm blanket. Blue collar sports fans, guys from Ireland, and two very nice bartenders who took care of us till last call. Music was good: Oasis, Johnny Cash, AC/DC, Faith No More(that song they do). And any bar that puts on the Ghostbusters earns a place in my heart.

Hockey bar = good. Overpriced decent beer = bad. Overall a divey spot that seems like it would be fine if you wanna drink pbr all night long. I think that I would come again, but bummed this hockey fell short of a being awesome.

I think that it’s important to list your biases right from the start, so I’ll point out that I’m originally from Buffalo and this is a «Buffalo bar.» It was actually my main reason for wanting to head out to this part of town — specifically to see this bar. I also wanted to go when there wasn’t a game on, hoping to run into a more even mix of people(though I’ll definitely be back once football season starts up again). Go Bills! Drinks here are significantly cheaper than normal for the location. I was drinking heavy-handed pours of Stoli Peach and soda for $ 7. As other reviews mention, they also have deals on buckets of bottles. They even sell Canadian beers! Another charming feature is that the bartender actually bought rounds. Many bars are moving away from this practice, but I really like it. And it’s not just that I get a free drink out of the deal(although that is nice), but it makes me feel very welcome at a bar and I’m more likely to leave a large tip that is way off of the tip charts. In the short time that I was sitting there, the bartender bought me a drink, and bought a bucket for the group of guys sitting at one of the tables. I’m sure they had other rounds, and I’m sure that the bar is still making a huge profit on the ordeal, but so few bars in NYC engage in the practice of giving away a drink here and there, that it makes an impression. And a good one! I’m not sure that they serve food here, but there is a decent .99 slice joint just one block away. The Irish bartender recommended it, and even said that it was okay to bring it back to the bar to eat it. Bring him a slice and you just might get yourself a free drink! Come surround yourself with Buffalo charm, talk to the friendly bartender, and play a round of bubble hockey(something you don’t see anywhere else). You’ll find that in between rooting for our terrible, terrible teams… Buffalonians have developed a great sense of humor about sports in general, AND we always know where to score a cheap drink.

Dive bar for sure, but a great place to find some space at the bar on an otherwise crowded night in NYC. Drink specials are good, not great, with the usual suspects(pbr cans bleh) on the board. The bartender was sweet and they sport a cell charging station, which is the first I’ve seen in NYC. If you’re a Bills, Cubs, Tottingham or Sabres fan this is prob your go to spot. Otherwise, stop by for a chance to grab a brew and actually have a conversation with the person you’re hanging with before finding out there is somewhere better to be(hint: there is).
