Great local burger place! Burgers are awesome. Fries are too thin for my taste but its a great deal.

it’s not that the food is bad, it’s really quite fine. I won’t tolerate lazy staff and walked out without eating when the guy at the counter didn’t hear me ask for his attention. Three times! hello! hello! but he couldn’t look away from his phone! the world is deteriorating to shit when employers allow workers to look at their phones while working, and workers take advantage of a situation and lose a customer who really wanted to eat there!

After a day of museum hopping, I just wanted to sit down and eat. A quick Unilocal search and what do I find out? A burger place with my name in it? I must try. That’s what came through my mind. Once we found the location, it seemed pretty inconspicuous. I wouldn’t have noticed it if I were just walking by. The sign needs a touch-up. Mainly, the J has disappeared. So we get a couple of burgers. They come in 3 sizes: Munch(3 oz. — $ 4.75), Midi(5 oz. — $ 6.25), Maxi(8 oz. — $ 7.75) Toppings included are: lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapenos, pickle, tabasco, sauteed onions. I got a Midi with Cheddar. I’m not big on toppings, so I got lettuce and tomatoes. I would have preferred if they didn’t use shredded lettuce. Mr. Joy got a Maxi with Swiss. Both look like they were made with potato buns. The cheese was slightly melted. The buns were a little toasted. We ordered them medium rare and they were tasty and juicy. The burgers were overall satisfying and affordable. We also got the Batatas — Sweet Potato Fries, which evidently are not fries. They were somewhat like sweet potato chips, but the center was still a little raw. It seems like their big thing is their homemade sauces. The server listed quite a few. I’ve already forgotten all of them. I believe we got the Spicy Mango Chutney. It had a mild spicy aftertaste. I wasn’t a big fan of the syrupy sweetness though. The lemonade didn’t help, because it was sweet on sweet. I mainly just liked the burger, its affordability, and the fact that they accept cards. Plus I thought it was cute that they give you a playing card to take to your table in place of a table number.

Horrible delivery service! It’s one thing that they forgot to add in the ranch dressing I ordered over the phone after already submitting my order through grubhub, but to not include pickles and onions on my burger is just sheer laziness and inconsiderate. The meat was cooked well and tasted good though. Way too much bread in the bun though. They did offer to send a correct order if the original one was returned but I didn’t feel like waiting another hour just to eat my overpriced lunch.

I honestly love this place with all of my heart. Juicy thick burgers, large portion of fries, and some of the beat chicken fingers I’ve eaten in my life. I use delivery and I’m always on hold for 20+ minutes. I just find this absolutely ridiculous. Please improve before I find a new burger joint!!!

My first experience with Joy, was nothing to tap someone on the shoulder to rave about. I ordered for delivery and had to make a quick run as my food was coming. Someone was in the house when they came, and unintentionally, I didn’t leave the money with that person to pay for my order. That truly was my fault, of which I apologized and acknowledged. So, I placed the order again, cleared up the mishap with both grub hub and joy. Joy delivered the first order, so by the time it was delivered the food was cold to the touch. The burger just wasn’t good to me. Wasn’t seasoned, doesn’t have anything to have you wanting more. The chicken fingers were cold too. I had to reheat both the burger and fingers in the microwave. They were OK. The milkshake I ordered was good. Whoever was in charge of deliveries today clearly dropped the ball. You gotta see to it that your customers food is right no matter what

Delicious burgers. Who would have thought that this street corner burger joint was this good? Despite all the good reviews Joy Burger has, walking by does not really make you want to enter the place. Craving a burger a couple months ago, we decided to get over our prejudices, get in and find out what it’s all about. The burgers are among the best burgers I’ve eaten(around the country not just NYC), everything else is good and served in copious amounts. Lots of toppings, regular fries, sweet potato fries, etc Did I mention this place is well priced too?

OK so this place is pretty much amazing. I’m not going to go as far as saying the burgers in my old neighborhood were bad… but they weren’t, well, very good(sorry Burgers Ur Way…). I was starving after moving heavy stuff up a few flights of stairs, and sure wasn’t in the mood to go out. Enter Joy Burger. We found the place on Seamless, and man am I happy we did; they have different size burgers(normal sized for my girlfriend, huge ones for fat, er, husky dudes like me), salads if you’re in the mood to not die, and almost everything in between(in the mood for Schnitzel? they’ve got it). The wide varieties of toppings you can put on your burger are impressive; I personally recommend cheddar cheese, garlic mayo and bacon aioli(cheddar is 0.60, the rest are all free, score). Make sure you order a side of the fries, they are ridiculously good, as are the zucchini sticks(free side if you hit 30 $ on Seamless, easy if there are three people). Honestly everything is super well made(and enjoyable) here, I can’t wait to try some more of their stuff out. Think we found our new go to burger joint in the neighborhood, follow up review will absolutely be on its way as soon as we get a chance to go in — this place is tasty so that wont’t be far off I’m sure.

The reviews are correct! Good burgers! I had a big, tasty, juicy, turkey burger for my lunch today. I was the first one there when they opened. I had the sweet potato fries too. The reviews were right about the sweet potatoes too. Someone said they were soggy. I also found them soggy with the exception of a few pieces. They also didn’t have much taste as the typical sweet potato fries. I’ve had much better elsewhere. They charge more for turkey burgers. It said 5 oz. I felt like it was 8 – 10 oz. So huge! They also make their money charging extra for avocado and cheese. I like the whole wheat bun at Joy Burger Bar. In the end I spent $ 14.42. I didn’t have a drink. Service was great. Everyone was very nice. they brought my food to the table and took away my tray of garbage when I was finished. So nice! There was a manager visible, cleaning was going on and an“A” for sanitation in the window! I like that! It is less expensive then going to BareBurger. I will try the beef burger next time. They deliver. That might be handy if you work in the neighborhood. They had a pretty good crowd by the time I left. It’s popular for the soft drinks and sauces too. I noticed right away the TV’s. Very nice touch with the sports on TV. The music was good too if you sit there for lunch. I was enjoying that. The TV’s didn’t have the sound on although people were watching at the next table. I guess you have to ask them to turn it up. I’ll go back and give it a try again next time I’m in the neighborhood.

This place is amazing!!! I do not write many reviews but when I experience such good food and awesome customer service I think it warrants a review! The burger was delicious just PERFECT! But the best part was the cashier and the manager(Cathy) who was so pleasant to me and my family! WAYTOGOJOYBURGERBAR(UES)!!!

I used to rave about this place but today’s experience makes me think twice about coming back here. I called to order for pickup and was told it would be ready in 10 – 15 minutes. It took over half an hour, and this is on a weekday when I had limited time to spare. The man ahead of me also waited over half an hour, became infuriated and demanded a refund and that they give him a free burger and fries straight off the grill instead of making him wait any longer. When I calmly and respectfully asked the cashier when my order would be ready and informed her that I too had been waiting a much longer time than she had originally told me, all I got was a «sorry». It would have been easy for her to throw in a free fries for me — this is a perk people often get through points on the joy burger app anyways — but no, I guess I would have had to lose my temper in order to get that. In addition, I had ordered two burgers cooked medium, but instead they were thoroughly well done. As a burger place that specifically asks customers how they would like their burgers cooked, they should have by now mastered the difference between medium and well done — there is a difference between pink and brown!

I do not know if we came on an off day, but these burgers were far from anything special. The hamburger itself is pretty tasteless(after ordering medium cooked), and the three sauces supposedly put on the burger were barely enough to taste. I had to end up putting catchup on mine even after ordering the specialty burger of the day. The fries were decent however but not worth raving about. Also did not see any sweet potatoes fries on the menu and the cashier seemed to be oblivious to them. The service is also pretty frustrating, we had to wait a good 20 minutes for our food and no one was before us. We actually got free fries because the ordering system and employees were so incompetent and mixed up orders. Definitely would not trek more than a few blocks to get here as many seemed to have done. Not sure if most people who have written reviews for this place have actually been in nyc for more than a week.

Really nice burgers in East Harlem. I got one with everything: tomatoes, salad, onions, avocado, cheese and bacon. Hard to eat but really yummy!

Joy Burger is great for a cheap, tasty meal. I always order the Midi burger with spicy mango and ALL the toppings. The first time I went, they were out of the whole wheat buns, but they haven’t been out of anything since then. It takes longer than you’d expect to get your food(called based on the playing card they give you!), but I’m glad it’s made to order. The burger itself is not spectacular, but it’s quite delicious and is a great deal in the UES. ATMOSPHERE: 4⁄5 SERVICE: 4⁄5 FOOD: 4⁄5 VALUE: 4⁄5 OVERALL: 4⁄5

The burgers are really delicious, as well as the fries. Service leaves a lot to be desired of the staff forgot we had ordered a vanilla shake. We had to ask several times before the vanilla shake was brought out. This location is definitely better than your average fast food burger. I recommended adding cheese and/or avocados to your burger. They also have outdoor seating so you can bring the dog. They do not have air conditioning in here, so it will be warm inside on a hot day.

This place was fantastic — glad we found this little local place while we were walking around at night. Just a few blocks away from Central Park. Burger was perfectly made — and the home made sauce(i got a garlic mayo one) on it was great as well. Fries were also very well done — not greasy, nice and crunchy. I also got a milkshake. These sometimes can be iffy depending on where you, because some people use a powder base, which is gross — you feel the grit. HERE, the shake was nice and smooth — just the right thickness as well. and again, tasted really good. :)

Disappointed. They messed up my order. And even when it came back modified. The one in Chelsea is better :/

You will have to trek up a hill and further uptown that the usual burger spots to get here, but it is definitely worth a visit! Burger is fantastic, fresh, juicy, and their sauces are very good. I like their service and that your meal ticket for when your order is ready is a playing card. Also, portion sizes are fantastic. You can’t call yourself a burger connoisseur until you’ve journeyed out here and hit up this spot.

Definitely a great burger place on the UES!!! I ordered the maxi burger with caramelized onions, garlic mayo, cheese, lettuce and pickles. I also got a side of sweet potato fries. The burger was cooked just how I asked(medium) and was DELICIOUS and! JUICY. The garlic mayo is a must try. I am such a sauce person, and it is excellent! It’s hard to find a good burger around my neck of the woods. The sweet potato fries deserve a little fame too, because the maple syrup they are served with hits the spot.
