The women who work here were extremely rude. They punctured my friends skin and we pointed out that it had bruised, they got extremely defensive and said it was fungus, which makes no sense. Instead of apologizing they said it was there before. I guess the saying is true you get what you pay for. I will never return.

These girls are my jam! Super boom! This the local spot I always go to. I see some other reviews reviewers are saying their polish peels, but I’ve never had that experience. This may be because I stick to the Opi Polishes. Always get my waxing here too, sometimes they’re tougher than others and will miss a few hairs, I easily enough tell them what to fix. Staff are super nice — even when I’ve overheard them with some of the most obnoxious clients ever. Cash only and their ATM has quite a bit of fees. Boom!

No. Not for acrylic nails. The two stars are for the service. The women here are very very kind. I just wish my manicure came out much better. I went here to get a nail fixed because it had broken off. They did not remove the nail and put a new tip on. Unfortunately, they kept it on, covered them all with clear gel, polished them all again, and shaped them all really poorly. Much to no one’s surprise, the nail broke off the next day, hurt like a b*tch, and I had to get them redone the very next day all over again. Not to mention that the polish on nearly all my nails started to just chip off completely. I wish I could go back here because it’s close and the service is so kind, but my nails just were horrible.

I got a gel manicure and it was bad. There’s bubble and dent on my two nails. When I pointed that to her, she told me to come back the next day to get fix if I want to? She also painted over my skin. Considering that I got a gel manicure, I’d want a better job than this. Not going back.

Came here on Labor Day when I found out Grace’s had closed. I had Wilma and whle her English wasn’t great, she clearly understood what I wanted in a basic mani and her hand/shoulder massages were fabulous. I’d come back here again. Cash only. Basic mani $ 10.50.

I had a wonderful experience getting both a manicure and pedicure at JOA. They have an excellent collection of Essie polishes to choose from and the staff are polite and courteous. They made sure to ask my preferences for nail shape and cuticle care upfront and the experience on the whole was really relaxing. The space is also calm and airy and the tools were well sanitized. All in all, the value and quality cannot be beat and I will definitely be returning!

So I went last week with a friend to get a pedicure, the service was alright. The pedicure itself was nice, ambience was quiet. The pedicure comes with a «free manicure.» I ad a polish change for my hands because I had acrylics on but the girl literally did not know what to do, even explaining to her prior that because I had acrylics on and all I wanted was a simple filing and shaping– which is basic with a manicure, I did not get one. Not even an attempt. No lotion to the hands. No warm towel. Nothing. After I was done, there was no open dryer available so I had to wait with just having a portable fan blow at my hands. Once a drying station did open, I had to walk over with my belongings and plop myself down. The girl that did my hands ignored me. Now I know that getting a few second massage is complimentary, but I clearly didn’t get one. It would have been nice to been acknowledged. And lastly, it’s been less than a week. And my pedicure has completely PEELED off on one toe nail. I’ve gotten way too many pedicures to know that nail polishes don’t peel off by the whole nail. Please note the picture. This was last night, which meant 4 days after my pedicure. it peeled off. I won’t be returning.

I really like coming to this place. I heard about it from a friend. They do a great job, the salon is nice and I definitely feel relaxed and like I got a good pampering afterwards. My mani-pedi comes out great and they have a good price. Definitely try the spa pedicures!

I was not happy with the pedicure. However when i got the mani the ladies switched and my nails came out great. Overall the place seemed clean. I dont think ill return though. I found a place for $ 20 which does just as good a job

I love this place. I’ve been to most of the nail salons in the area and while most are around the same price(save for MiMi on 1st and 80th…$ 40 and never worth it!), none of them are as good as JOA. I have a few favorite girls(Vilma and Puja) but all of them are good. They don’t «skimp» on anything and make sure to always do everything to perfection. The place is clean and the décor is modern and pretty. They take cash only so either bring cash or use the ATM in the back($ 1.50 surcharge). I’m so glad this place opened. They have another location at 79th and York but I haven’t been to that one. I believe the owners of this salon also own Miz Nails on York and 82nd because when it gets busy they call them over. I have been to that one but for some reason I prefer JOA.

Nice UES place for a 26.50(with tax) mani+pedi! Stop by the place just to check the price on Sunday evening and was tempted by the price … really glad that decided to have my nails done here. Great experience! Moved to NYC almost a year ago and was searching for the right nail salon. assume i found it :)

I pass by this salon almost every day and I’m always intrigued by the $ 25.25 mani-pedi deal advertised in the window. Today I decided to try it out since it’s one of the cheaper mani-pedi deals on the upper east side. The place is very bright and clean, and automatically attracts passerbys to peek in the windows. The utensils, hot towels, etc. are all properly cleaned between customers. The service is friendly, but reserved. They don’t speak english very well, but they are very considerate: they ask about the shape you want your nails, how you want your cuticles, etc. At the end of it, they give you a back massage for a few minutes while your nails and toes dry under the dryer. They are cash only, but they have an ATM in store in case you forget. I also recommend bringing a magazine or two(they didn’t have any magazines when I was there). Overall, I had a good experience and got a great deal on a mani-pedi! Really good find-I’ll be back!

My one and only nail salon. $ 25.25 for a manicure and pedicure– awesome deal! Sometimes it is $ 26.50; I think they charge extra for cutting your nails instead of just filing them. The place is clean, the ladies are friendly, and I’ve never had to wait. They do take appointments, but I always just walk in. Bring cash with you!

$ 25.50 for Manicure and pedicure? Who can say no to that! Honestly, I come here so often and the place is always busy, so I was shocked that the business didn’t even exist on Unilocal! I stumbled upon this place about six months ago and it’s truly a hidden gem. When you come into the salon, the décor is all tastefully done in white and cream. It’s definitely not how the average salon looks like east of Madison Ave! All the ladies are polite and are never visibly in a bad mood. The chairs are leather and super comfortable. They only take cash, but if you forget to stop at the bank, they conveniently have an ATM in the salon. The manicures last on average 4 – 6 days, but for the price I can definitely afford to come and get them redone. Overall, it’s an adorable little place to come with your girl friends to prep for a night out or stop by for a relaxing time after a long day of work!
