Jane Laundromat

I really like the service at Jane. Very straightforward and easy to work with. Here’s what I do:
–One pickup/​drop every week to two weeks. For two people, it comes out to about $ 20 – 25 each time
–I have one dark colored laundry bag for darks, and a light colored laundry bag for lights. I usually stuff one inside the other so the delivery person carries 1 bag
–I gave them a box of Bounce sheets since I agree that the clothes don’t come back smelling fresh. Without Bounce, it’s fine, but it doesn’t have that fresh detergent smell that I love. They keep the box at the store and use it every time — no need to remind them each time.
–I also keep a credit card on file with them. They charge the card when they’re delivering
–When they come to pick up, they will ask you when you want your drop off. This is so they know when to expect drop off.
–When you are ready for them to deliver your clothes back, CALL THEM AGAIN. They usually come within 10 – 20 minutes. Without the 2^nd call, they will not come. They want to know you are home
–I DO NOT send any delicate clothing. I hand wash these at home. I haven’t had a bad experience, but I just prefer to wash these myself since I’m pretty careful with how I treat my clothes.
There’s a $ 2 delivery charge each time, regardless of how much clothing you are sending. Jane is a bit pricier than other WV laundromats, but they’ve worked so well for me that I’m sticking with them.

Two times using their wash/​fold = two times I got a stranger’s g-​string in my laundry. Not cute ones either. One more pair of stranger danger undies and I’m done.

Great pickup/​dropoff service if you need it.

This is my first time using a laundry service. This place got very good reviews, so I thought I would check it out. I popped in there on a Saturday drop off some dress shirts. It was packed with several banker-​bros doing the same thing I was, so I knew my shirts would be in good hands. The staff is friendly and very efficient. You are in and out in minutes.
The shirts came back just the way I had asked with no issues. Next, I wanted to see how their laundry service would stack up. I dropped off 25 pounds of laundry. They did a great job washing and folding everything. I think it came to a little over a dollar a pound. My only complaint is that I set my laundry up for delivery and it never came, so I had to call them to get them to deliver it.
Jane Laundromat is now my go to dry cleaner and laundry.

I’ve never lived somewhere that I needed to send laundry out before, so I did a bit of research before deciding on Jane Laundromat — although it does happen to be super close to my apartment! It’s great — prices are fair (10lb minimum for wash and fold), service is quick, and they honor your requests w/​r/​t temperature, detergent etc. It’s busy and hectic in there, always, but staff are friendly and attentive. Never lost anything or had something come back in rough shape.
I have also been very happy with their dry cleaning. Gave them a skirt I was pretty sure I had ruined by brushing against something covered in black dust — the man who helped me marked every bit of the stain with tape so the cleaner it would see it all. When I picked it up, it was good as new! Would definitely recommend if you’re in the West Village!

Had my first experience with them Wednesday morning.
Called to schedule a pickup for later that day, after work. Of course, I got stuck in the subway on the way home (between platforms for FORTY. FIVE. MINUTES), and missed the delivery by ten minutes. As this was closing time, they couldn’t come back out, but told me all I had to do was call the next morning and they’d send someone over.
Next morning, ten to fifteen minutes after I called, someone appeared to pick up my laundry. They forgot about my delivery time on Friday (I’d scheduled on the phone for 8:30 am), but once again, ten to fifteen minutes after I called, someone came by with my clean folded laundry.
This may not sound revolutionary, but if you’ve tried other laundromats in the city you know how efficient and quick this is. They have my credit card on file, have a clear bill on the laundry bag, and don’t charge until you receive your laundry. They were also much more friendly than the other laundromats I’ve used.
Will definitely be using them from now on.

I have a beautiful black and white Alice and Olivia shirt that cost me $ 180. They completely ruined my beautiful shirt, with black color bleeding all over the white. When I asked for reimbursement, they said $ 20 max. They claim that they warned me the color would bleed but i have NO recollection of this warning, because I’ve seen color bleed and ruin my clothes before and would never allow this to happen. Horrible customer service. That was one of my staple shirts and now it’s gone. Never going back here.

Cheap and does a good job. Only problem is they are flakey when you ask for delivery the next day or at a certain time. I always have to call and remind them.

Per the first review I saw on Unilocal.i concur this is the BEST laundry service I have ever seen. The people are friendly, they are fast, and the prices are great. What more do you need? One time they weren’t super busy so my laundry was done SAME DAY with no extra charge. Normally your clothes will be done in ONE day. This is amazing, some places make you pay for one day laundry. Delivery is also only 1 dollar ONE DOLLAR. This place is amazing and I go at least once a week. They even do dry cleaning too. I brought in a white shirt which had a coffee stain and it was 100% gone !!! I will go here until the end of time !!!

Price and convenience is amazing. They’ll pick up/​drop off within minutes (except maybe once it took 30mins, and on a weekday morning that’s a real roadblock in your routine), and you really cannot beat the price. People are amazing also. Never had an issue with being hung up on or rude staff.
BUT my biggest complain is the clothes don’t come out smelling clean or feeling properly clean. Not sure why I’ve been seeing makeup swipes on the collars of my shirts, but that’s not ok. I’m not convinced the quality of their care is even good.
I’ve been using for months now to see if anything would change but it hasn’t. Really wanted to love them, but I’m done.

This has got to be one of the best run laundry services in the free world. Honestly the people that work here are some of the most efficient, friendly and capable personnel I have encountered anywhere — period.
FYI, you can’t wash your own clothes here, drop off (or pickup) only.

i tried this place 3 times… my clothes never came smelling good even tho I told them thats what i wanted.
the third time my clothes were taking longer than normal to be delivered so i called, they said i never sent anything which was crazy because I KNOW where i my laundry bags wen! i called maybe 3 or 4 times till a woman called me back and said they had my bags in another room because there were no names on the bags so they couldn’t identify it.
not going back!

I’ve lived in the west village for 10 years and just switched to jane laundry and couldn’t be happier. They do a great job, always pay attention to any instructions or special requests, they have a super-​quick turnaround and delivery is cheap and doesn’t take long! Plus they are pleasant to deal with. I’ve called after closing and they’ve sent someone over with my laundry as a favor! They are the best.

Great service! The staff is so friendly and hardworking. They are very quick and always do a fantastic job. I have never had anything lost, and they make the 6 floor walk up to pick up and deliver my laundry… with no complaints! Love this place!

Great laundromat, friendly service, prompt and do an excellent job

Jane is great. Price is fair especially considering the service. They’re always friendly and SUPER fast, both with drop off and pickup and actual cleaning time. As others have said, bring your own detergent and the experience is all the better. And I don’t wanna be that guy, but a lot of my clothes are all quite expensive and they take great care of them. Any time i’ve accidentally thrown in a dry clean only item, they hold it to the side. It’s a 20 min walk for me but I won’t go anywhere else.
ETA: Started getting delivery since I live about 6 blocks away. $ 2 and it’s here within ¹⁰⁄₁₅ min of calling. Honestly can’t beat it.

Not sure why people think they’re cheap, $ 11 for 10 lbs doesn’t seem cheap — but I haven’t tried anywhere else in the West Village, just the Lower East Side (and asked my friends in Brooklyn about prices there — much lower).
You have to pay an extra $ 2 to have things dried separately, so my boyfriend’s wool running shirt came back rather snug. So we’re not dropping off our wool stuff anymore.
We were rather annoyed that on this last visit (Sat) we were told to pick up the next day (Sun) after 3 and then when we did, were told that the shirt we were having dry cleaned wouldn’t be ready until Monday night, because the place they send them is closed on Sundays. Why didn’t they tell us that when we dropped it off? Fortunately it wasn’t urgent but double check if you’re dropping off something that you definitely need at a certain time.
Their 10 lb minimum is difficult for me to meet so I’m tempted to go somewhere else to do it myself…

Absolutely the best laundry I have had in New York… and I have tried LOADS. It comes back clean, neatly folded, smelling fresh (I know these are basic laundry rights. but it doesn’t always happen!) You can leave them with your own detergent, so it smells just how you want it to. AND… they know what to do with which clothes, which is rare (thank you Justin!) My sheets come back tumble dried and fluffy clean the same day. My sports clothes (lycra) come back next day, all air dried and neatly folded (not dumped soaking wet on a hanger and covered up in plastic *Greenwich Ave Cleaners* so it smells worse than before!)
