So I had a huge thai food craving today! Like humongous! My frnd and I had once ordered from here and the spice level was fierce! So thought of rejuvenating my senses again. I ordered the Red Chili(Lava Chili) with chicken, brown rice from their lunch special menu! And absolutely devoured it to the very last bite. When they say Medium spicy level is «considered spicy already» they really do mean it. I am so going to eat here again and doing the spiciest level they got. Next time hopefully will do the a la carte! Am giving the four star just hoping to be surprised in my next visit :)

Restaurant was decent but didn’t live up to my expectations Looked at some pretty good reviews and had recommendations to go here. Maybe it was over hyped for me but I still think there’s better Thai food out there I tried the drunken noodle and tom yum soup, it was ok but nothing special. A bit overpriced too

This is my favorite Thai restaurant — of any I’ve ever been to. I’ve been coming here for maybe 12 – 13 years and seen it go through at least 2 renovations. But it’s not the décor I love about this place, it’s the food. My wife and I have our set take out order here — Pad Kee Mao(aka Drunken Man Noodles) and Penang Curry. While we love a number of other apps and entrees here, these our our staple Thai food items and so we stick with them when it’s just the two of us. Couple Tips: 1. For vegetarians, I don’t believe they call it out on the menu but seriously consider trying the«mock duck» as your add-in to a dish. The mock duck is a vegetarian item(perhaps made of seitan or tofu — I’m not sure) but has flavoring that really adds to the dish. 2. Spice levels here are no joke. Unlike other restaurants, they actually have a legit amount of spice in their food when you ask for it. I love spicy food, my wife does too but at a much lower tolerance level than me. When I order alone, I order«medium» spice(I’d like to try higher but it’s been a while since I’ve ordered alone); when I order with my wife, we get«mild-to-medium» spice(yes, that’s a level). I would suggest this latter level if you consider«spicy» at most restaurants to actually be spicy.

Excellent Thai food, love this place. We mostly do take out, but it’s also nice to visit. My only reservation is that the prices went up ridiculously in the last month– one dish we order went up almost $ 7!

If one wants truly spicy thai food — and by that I mean very flavorful food that happens to be spicy because of how it is constructed as opposed to some chilis being thrown in any otherwise bland dish — this is the place. I’ve eaten thai all around the country. Never found anything better than this.

Liked the flavor of food. The Chilli wok vegetables were really the best amongst what we had ordered. However the service was not upto the mark. They got the tea after almost the entire meal was over and then right after we paid we were asked to leave even though we were still drinking the tea.

Wow, an unfortunate downgrade from 2015 to 2016. They have raised the prices and removed some of the taste and spice. For the last year, we have ordered from here every friday, and one of the things I have always loved is that it was always the same. But tonight was so bland and tasteless, I was amazed, like bland white bread. It used to be that medium meant HOT, but now medium means tasteless, no heat, bland. Yuck. This may be the last time to take such a chance. Sad to see this change. I spoke to the boss tonight, he could offer no explanation on why the food was so bland. Now maybe I should switch to Italian, where spice means spice, and yummy taste. UPDATE: Tried again last night. Asked for the food to be hotter and it was. My GFs Red Curry was fine, but my Jungle was still no where near hot enough, still kind of bland. I had to add a lot of super hot ground red pepper.

Food was very good but not good enough to outweigh the poor customer service and over pricing. We ordered takeout tonight and here’s what happened. 1) When we got our food we realized that the prices had been raised from what is posted on their website. Okay to raise prices but not okay to mislead customers. 2) The curry does not come with rice! I have never experienced a shop that sells curry without including rice. 3) Calamari container was half filled. 4) When we called to find out what was going on, we were met with, basically, that’s just the way it is. Very disappointed that we are forced to stop ordering from here because we had enjoyed it for so long.

Came here with a friend, the atmosphere was very calming and romantic– recommend this place for a date! Btw I LOVE Thai food, so my standards for Thai cuisine are very high(I went to Thailand just to eat their food) We first ordered cocktails: — Bangkok Dangerous– not the best cocktail I’ve ever had– really sweet, tasted like a Redbull vodka –Lychee martini — I love lychee and this hit the spot. Nothing too amazing though Appetizer — Naked shrimp– very saucy, spicy and sweet. A great amount of flavor and super delicious Penang curry with chicken — I’ve had better before. It was lighter than other places(less coconut milk). It had some good flavor and was a little too spicy for my friend even though we got it mild. But I’m a fan of spicy so it was fine for me, I asked for the spice tray and added more chili flakes. Lava baked shrimp Noodles– This was my favorite dish. The noodles had so much flavor which I didn’t expect. Since this was a dry dish, It was a lot a great compliment to the Penang curry. They gave us four large shrimp finely cooked. I wanted to try something different from the regular Pad Thai– this dish was defiantly worth the risk! The service here was great. Always filled our glasses and checked up on us frequently. Over all my experience was good, however it was a little too over priced for the quality of food served. Not the best Thai place I’ve been too but defiantly a very cute date place.

LOVETHISPLACE! Authentic, flavorful, and huge portions. Tried the Tom yum soup(your eyes and nose will be watery, it’s THAT spicy which is a good thing for me coming from a Bengali family background) Pad Thai– glorious, everything had flavor from the noodles to the veggies to the shrimp. Basil fried rice– love! Again, heavenly– every bit of it was stirred in sauce. Lychee mojito– more citrusy but sweet enough to extinguish that fired up Tom yum! The money is worth this mouthwatering experience.

Love this place! We get the best seats each time because of how frequent we go. Remember you can always go spicier, but you can’t reverse it. Ask for the spice tray.

First, the good. This place has some of the best(if not THE best) Pad Thai that I’ve had in the city. This is my go-to here, and honestly I don’t stray too far off because the other items on the menu that I’ve tried haven’t been anything special — if anything, the flavors have been a bit off and the dishes have been too sweet. Unfortunately, the service here is… iffy. Sometimes they’re friendly enough, and I totally understand that this is NYC and their turnover is super quick. But the last time I was there, I was at a table of 3, and after a quick dinner we paid our check and were finishing our water and chatting at the table. I’m talking a 25 minute long dinner, max. Within 5 minutes of paying the check, we were asked by our server if we could please leave because they needed the table. We didn’t leave immediately, and were promptly asked by a second server if we needed anything else, and if not, to please give up the table. Within the next 10 minutes, we were asked by YETANOTHER server to please leave. It was absurd, considering that there were open tables all around us and no line at the door. So that pushy, annoying experience aside… great Pad Thai. Doable prices.

Came here because my little sister likes this place apart from the ones in brooklyn. We both ordered the pad see ewe, she got chicken and I got the fried tofu. The noodles are a bit on the sweet side and there was enough of greens which I liked. I think I must’ve gotten a piece of shrimp skin however or something of the like and wondered how it got there. Hopefully I’m just wrong and it was something else. My sister said the chicken was a bit dry. Apart from that, the thai iced tea was tasty except there wasn’t enough of it to be worth $ 3.50 in my opinion. I’ve gotten a tall glass for $ 2 elsewhere so I expect that for almost double the price. Service was good, the waitress was pretty attentive.

Came here on a Saturday evening with a couple of friends. Let me just preface this review and say that I LOVE Thai food. If I were to choose just one type of cuisine to eat for the rest of my life, it would be Thai cuisine. Jaiya however, would not be the restaurant I would choose to eat at when eating Thai food(for the rest of my life). I got the Drunken noodles after reading some good Unilocal reviews about it but it was a bit too sour for my liking. The dish was at the perfect level of spicy(I asked for mild), but the sour taste was too strong for me to enjoy the dish. My friends got The Jungle — one got it with tofu, and the other, with chicken. I didn’t try their dishes, but the friend who got the chicken option ended up only eating about half of her dish saying the chicken seemed a bit undercooked while the friend with the tofu ate most of his dish. The ambience is lovely, and the bar seating is nice as well. Service is friendly but if you go on a Saturday evening like we did, you might receive frequent hints to leave(as we did). Meh.

This girl is on fiiiiiiiireeeeee.(As close to literally as you can get.) You have no idea how many times I have went to a thai place, asked for something spicy, and rolled my eyes when my dish came out. NOTHERE. I warn you now, the spice level is so real here. We all were sweating, sniffing, and huffing throughout our whole meal… and that was on medium. We actually changed our last order to mild to balance everything out. We got the papaya salad, tom yum puk, pad thai, and black pepper garlic beef. It was more than enough food for four people. The pad thai was the last dish that we got and I’m pretty sure that our taste buds were burned off by the time it got there. Everything was pretty good but my favorite was the tom yum puk. The soup was presented in a cool bundt like structure, very lime-y, and the high spice level was perfect. The black pepper garlic beef was standard and the papaya salad needed a better balance of ingredients. The service was good when we went — but it was also late on a Wednesday night and there was maybe three or four more tables in the whole place. Overall, I enjoyed coming here. It’s my favorite thai place in New York so far. probably because they know how to make things actually spicy.

1st time I tried was last summer. It was phenomena although they gave me a wrong item(take out). 2nd time, cooked a wrong dish but still tasted good. 3rd time, just ok. Yesterday was so horrible! The green curry was salty and thick. They added flour! No curry should add flour. I visited Thailand for numerous of time in different cities plus I have tons of Thai friends too. The lunch portion was so small although I’m a petite person but I still considered small. They opened new location so they might send the head chef to the new location. However, the quality of food should maintain. Would not be back. Food was awful Ambience is good Restroom smelled like dead rat! Deserved 1 star for ambience

Soooo I just had my favorite thai dish I ever had(in the USA) so I figured I would review. The whole snapper with the special sauce is one of the most flavorful things I have ever eaten(see my dapper snapper pic). Neccisito to get this with some sticky icky icky rice. $ 32 for the dish and so worth it. I also tried the drunken man noodles and bbq squid. Both were okay. But I have had both dishes better elsewhere. Be very careful when ordering spicy dishes. Light spice is actually medium, medium is actually spicy, and spicy is actually set you mouth on fire. The menu here is wonderful and you should feel compelled to leave your pad thai /drunken noodle comfort zone. Definitely my east side go to thai spot.
