I don’t know why but it’s the first place I bought jade at in NYC and I kept coming back because I think I can trust them. Being no Jadeologist I think trust is really needed in that business. The young woman who is there almost alll the time explained to me why which jade was more expensive. I really appreciated that. If you like a stone or something and want it in a necklace, braclet or earring the do it for you on the spot.

There aren’t many stores that make their living selling vases and pots. This store will give you one of the widest selection. It’s in Chinatown, so there is a bent toward Chinese Pots. However, they have a wide selection of colors and varieties. If you’ve been looking for something different and can get over to this location, I would just stop by. Among the Chinese pots there are all types, from the traditional porcelain, to the baked ceramics. The staff is very helpful. My one major qualm is that they don’t always have the underneath tray to match your beautiful pot. I am not sure if these trays just break in shipping or what is going on. But many times I’ve found the perfect pot only to realize i would need to get pretty creative about what sort of plate to put under it. If you’re not annoyingly specific about what you’re hoping to do in your apartment in the way of look, you might still get what you’re looking for here. I have to doc it 1 star for this oversight. Oh, other pointers, bring cash. I think they take credit cards, but I think deep down inside, all Chinatown folks are secretly annoyed by credit cards. Also, if you’ve got lots of bags, you may want to just ask the lady at the front desk if you can put them down. If you break anything you buy it. I think some of the people in the back more directly responsible for cleaning up broken pots will often look at someone with a lot of bags with a certain unhappiness.

looking for pots w/an asian twist? this would be your place! bought a really cute pot here the other day for my money tree. there is not only a wide range of designs, but price as well — fortunately for me, on the low side! hurray! the guys there were super informative, explaining to my poor ABC self what the Chinese proverbs etched onto the pots meant. they also gave me a bag of soil suitable for Bob, yes that’s my plant’s name. if you’re also looking for a jade stamp to carve in your chinese name, you can get it here too.
