Thank you to Nathan for taking the time to read and respond to my review. I sincerely appreciate that and really wish that I recalled the young Lady’s name as she was super nice! Bumping to 3 Stars for an Owner that cares enough to respond!

This bar is a typical old school pub. I have been in the past with my husband for a basketball game and returned Saturday night for the USA soccer game. Our bartender was the same as last time, and he was truly great. He has tattoos and has an adorable Scottish accent(even my husband agrees). He treated us well and even managed to remember us despite how busy he was. It feels nice to get that sort of service in manhattan and can be very rare. Anyways, we enjoy this bar, the food(the appetizer sampler is my favorite), the sports, and definitely the service! Will be returning soon!

Came here on a Friday night. Loved the bartenders accent and how helpful he was but the place was DEAD. I thought because the music was going that maybe it would be busy but it wasn’t. I wouldn’t come here for happy hour. Maybe it needs another shot?

Ambiance was typical pub feel. Service could have been better(I’ve had way better at pubs) We got our food pretty fast so that was good. Felt rushed when we first got there but apparently there might have been a change of shift because we never saw the waitress again. Would have been nice to have been told we were getting another waitress. Had a Maryland Crab Cake… burger? The crab cake was pretty good! Deep Fried. The Mash was great! The boyfriend had a Grilled Chicken Wrap… Ehh it was pretty bland… but not bad. If the service was better I’d be back but ok food and mediocre service? Probably not.

Food is okay, and the service is okay. From the minute we walked in they seemed to always be in a rush. Please take a chill pill and not make me feel like I have to get the hell out of there the minute I walk in. Food is just like any regular bar food. Nothing special honey.

It’s an OK place to go to. Nothing special. I ordered a burguer, which was ok. The service? Ok too. The place is ok too. Everything is ok here. Nothing to complain about, but also nothing to brag about.

OK place if there is nothing else around once you get out of a concert or sporting event at MSG. Luckily we got there before the rest of the crowds realized that its one of the few places still open and serving food. Unfortunately the only food they were serving were the appetizers, which were decent. Giving our options and that we were hungry and nothing else was open around. Beer was cold and tasty, although they did run out of some of the IPAs and not so mainstream brews. Lucky for me they had Stella and that made be very happy. Overall a good place for drinks and a quick bite especially late night, otherwise there are better venues around. Cheers!

Oh man. If you like greasy and delicious Bar Food, this is where you want to be! I went with my co-workers after work one day. We were supposed to have a table reserved downstairs but the hostess didn’t have our reservation. BUT, they were so so so incredibly kind and accommodating. They ended up putting us upstairs and we basically had half of the floor to ourselves. It was great! And the food, oh my goodness. It was AWESOME. We ordered drinks and appetizers. We had chicken tenders, mozz sticks, calamari, wings, potato skins, and hummus, just to name a few! All apps were INCREDIBLE. I can’t wait to take my boyfriend back because he loves bar food! It’s a great time, and it’s right in midtown, so perfect for an afterwork meal.

My boyfriend is constantly eating here for lunch. He’s obsessed with their Guinness beef pie. When I finally had the time to join him for lunch, I must say it is quite good. I always love a good flakey pastry top as well. I was still a bit full from breakfast that day so I ended up ordering a salad which was really good. I love the fried goat cheese on top which went very well with arugula and pine nuts.

Great vibe in this place, it’s one of those spots you need to go and see when in New York. Bartender was very busy when we were there but was able to give us great service. Bengals and Steelers were playing so got to catch some of the game. Crab Cakes were amazing.

I stopped by here for a beer, before an interview. The place is alright, classic American sports bar, with TV screens and all the types of food you would normally expect. I don’t frequent these types of bars, I prefer small cocktail lounges or bars that are a bit eccentric and classy. Not sure if I would come here again, maybe on a bar hop tour with friends.

I’ve been to my share of Irish Pubs and this place is at the bottom of the list. We ordered the calamari appetizer, which was chewy and dry… led me to believe that it was frozen and not fresh. I ordered the chicken pot pie. It was basically a piece of bread on top of mush. It was super salty as well. My father ordered the chicken curry on top of rice. It was soupy and bland with not even a hint of curry. We sent both back and asked for the check. The manager came over and gave us everything for free which was nice of hm. I would not recommended these three items off menu.

You can’t beat the true IRISH feel. I stumbled upon Jack Dempsey’s and will never be the same. From the minute I walked in — I was welcomed with open arms!!! Mairead and Megan were the waitresses around the bar and just FULLOFLIFE. Jokes and a true NY/Irish feel followed. Sharon was behind the bar and the feisty NY/Irish feel continued!!! Sharon was patient with my beer selections letting me sample different local brews! The«Jack Dempsey Ale» was on point followed by shots of Jameson!!! I tried a few different drafts, «Bass Pale Ale» and«Strongbow» were good but the Jack Dempsey was my go to! I would love to stay at Dempsey’s all night! This was just a Wednesday and all the employees were on their A GAME!!! I can NOT wait to enjoy another draft at Jack Dempseys… Hopefully the sweet and charming Megan, Mairead & Sharon are working! SLAINTE!!! Gaelic for CHEERS!!! :)

the service provided from the bartender(blond, short irish girl) was great. She was friendly and held great conversation. I just thought this place was a bit pricey for a burger and beer… and it was lunch time. the burger was ok, but didnt finish it. For some reason the fries had that thawed taste… the place was filled with contruction guys that were a bit on the creepy, stalker side i would only return for drinks and the great company of the bartender… but i wouldnt go out of my way. only if im in the area

I ended up coming here because the bar up the road was«at capacity». We walked back to JD’s because it looked good, had plenty of TVs, and there was space to sit. We asked for a table near a TV because we wanted to watch the USA soccer game, the Rangers, and game 4 of the Met’s series. The host instructed us to go up to the THIRDFLOOR(that’s right this place has THREE floors). That was pretty cool so we walked up and their third floor is giant and it’s even more of a sports bar than the other 2 floors. This place is awesome for sports. The Food: Started with buffalo chicken wings and they were fantastic! I would 100% get them again. They came out in less than 10 minutes. They were so hot we had to wait a few minutes to even touch them because they were so hot. They tasted fresh and the sauce was perfect! For our meal I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I rarely order a pulled pork sandwich and I don’t ever recall ordering one from a non BBQ joint. I was impressed with the sandwich and would order it again. I ordered Onion Rings with the pulled pork and we both thought they were awesome too. I could not finish the sandwich or the rings. and I can eat a lot. My friend ordered the chicken fajita wrap. I had a bite of that and I thought that was good also. I will post pictures of everything we ordered so you can decide for yourself if they look good. Our bartender Emmett was great. He was knowable, friendly, and he kept us there drinking for an extra hour because of his great customer service. Next time I am in the area I will definitly stop in.

Great service and awesome food. I traveled the country trying shepherds pie everywhere I go, and by far this is the best shepherds pie I’ve ever had. A great party atmosphere downstairs. Quiet seating on the second and third floor with balconies. A great place to take a date for a romantic dinner.

Typical midtown Manhattan Irish bar, just really nothing special, but definitely a decent bar if in the area. Fair draft selection. Good service but the food is just average. Good pours make up for it. Small L shaped bar on west wall. High tables opposite bar and eating tables beyond bar. Wood bar no rail. Large block foot rest. Great bar back, «aged» whitewash wood with mirrors, arches, and bottle shelves, Tvs in each arch. Nice stone work throughout. Duran Duran played in what was mostly 80’s or pop music. Never made it upstairs. Other patrons are casual, mostly there to converse amongst their group.

Poor service, decent enough food, but tiny portions. Very dark dining, they should really add some lights. Can’t comment on cleanliness because of the environment being so dark. A real letdown for us, the outside signage and all looked great. Our server was one of those who just seems bothered by your merely being there. Poor selection of drafts beers. Some d-bag local sat next to us and apparently wanted everyone in the place to know his business, he was so damn loud when he talked to his pretentious, hyper– high maintenance date who was equally loud. You should have heard these two order, as if the menu did not exist at all and they were telling their personal chef exactly what they wanted, and how to prepare and present it to them.

This is the second time I’ve been to this bar. Bars in midtown may or may not be hell on earth, but I have found myself going to them when there is a Rangers game or when friends are just coming in to Penn Station for a quick visit since it’s an easier trip for them. Anyways, we came here on Tuesday night for the women’s world cup match. Upstairs, there were a ton of people watching the game. We wanted somewhere to sit so we could grab food, so we sat downstairs. This was great for the first half since a ton of people were watching as well. Unfortunately, however, they turned on the basketball game once the first half was over. I generally would totally understand, but seriously no one was there watching sports besides my party. The bartender was a little sassy but whatever. They also only had two beers on tap which was a bit of a letdown. I guess they’re going through construction. The one beer we did get from the tap was essentially water. I know they are going through construction, but I was here back in January as well and had the exact same experience. So I would give this place two stars BUT our waiter was awesome. Honestly we were probably being really annoying but he still provided superb service. They were clearly understaffed but he went to extreme lengths to make sure we were served well and happy, and tried his best to have the bartender play the soccer game. He even covered a round of drinks for us which was unexpected. His name was Emmett(sorry if I just butchered your name).

Jack Dempsey’s NY: Midtown West 7:30pm Saturday 14th September 2014 Three Stars I came to this bar and restaurant named after the famous power puncher Jack Dempsey. We went upstairs to the Celtic Football Club Room which doubles as University of Kentucky Bar. There were plenty blue shirts and shouts of C-A-T-S. I ordered several glasses of Marker’s Mark and the Shepard’s Pie. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and toasted. The filling tasted like Campbell soup but not in a bad way –It was salty and meaty. I tried the Pork Chop Dinner, which tasted like a Frozen TV dinner. I had a few more drinks and then ordered some French fries, which tasted like the ones you get at a bowling alley. Those rectangular pieces of potatoes were delicious but could have used more salt. It was an enjoyable 3.5 hours even if UK lost in triple overtime. The service was a bit spotty with so many people but overall I like this bar.
