So sad to find out that ISE is closed. Anyone has idea whether it’s permanently closed or moved to other place? From a real fan of ISE

It’s looks like it’s closing or has already closed its doors . Hopefully we’ll get something new soon in there especially now that another luxury residential mega building is opening next door to it.

It was my first time here and my experience did not go well. Got there at 12pm and most of the lunch specials were sold out. Ordered the udon set and it was definitely not worth 17⁄18 $. And the service was terrible, the waiter spilled hot soup on me today and didn’t even apologize. My friend waited over half an hour for his order and it was mostly raw food. In general, the waiters barely stopped by to refill tea or check on us.

I have had a lot of sushi in my day. The good quality kind that melts in your mouth… and the fillers… that does not sit well with you all day. This is the high quality kind of sushi here. They don’t mess up the rolls with loads of sauces and fried stuff. It’s all fresh! My only complaint would be that my spicy yellowtail roll should have jalapenos and NOT spicy mayo… spicy mayo is not what I want with my sushi. The salmon sashimi they give you here is a huge chunk… I also got mackerel which was also wonderful. You pay for the quality of food here. yes it’s expensive, they don’t have any lunch specials like those 2 for $$ sushi rolls… but you get the good stuff here. This will be my go to for sushi for now… I may try out other spots in the area just to compare but I highly recommend this place!

Just too many people from the surrounding office buildings, but it is a reliable lunch Japanese serving the staples of the trade without surprises or problems. Reliable and decent. Price and value combo is acceptable. Not good for quiet conversation.

3.5−4 stars. The lunch specials here are incredible. We ordered a set that came with a steaming hot bowl of udon as well as a full set of sashimi. All of this for only $ 18. It was definitely way too much food-kinda like having two mini meals, but not complaining. Service was quick and friendly. They serve the hot Japanese green tea which I love. Overall quality of food was solid but not particularly special. I felt like the sashimi and udon both tasted pretty generic. So overall great value but definitely not anything that I would crave. Great way to fill up on a very generous lunch though!

This place knows how to make you feel like you are invisible. Order was not put in until half an hour later. No servers were available when I raised my hand up. After 40 minutes my udon came out but was very salty. Could not even flag the waitress to refill my water or tea.

I come here all the time with coworkers for Lunch and occasionally for dinner. The customer service is fantastic as always. Very polite, competent, fast and knowledgable staff. I ordered the Saba Mirin Bosi lunch set. It contains the Dried Mackarel with Mirin Sauce, fried chicken(Kara-Age) and fried Tofu cake(Ganmodoki). Everything tasted exactly like back home in Japan. Be sure to go before 12, or else you will miss the lunch special set. The lunch set price was also very reasonable at almost $ 15. My friends and I will keep going. Definitely try them out.

Ise is good value for a good price! I didn’t expect such fresh sushi from a restaurant in FiDi. If you can make it for lunch, Ise’s lunch specials are SUCH.A.STEAL. Literally a sashimi set of around 17 pieces of sashimi with uni+salmon roe rice and miso soup with claims for $ 17. The only caveats are that you have to dine-in, so perhaps not so convenient when you’re in a rush, and there are a limited number of orders per lunch special, so get here as early as possible! If you can’t make it for lunch, the best deal in my opinion is the sushi and sashimi combo for $ 26, includes 3 pieces of a California roll, 3 pieces of a spicy tuna roll, 1 piece of tobiko roe sushi, 4 different pieces of nigiri, and 11 pieces of sashimi. I don’t know if you’ve lost count yet, but all that fish for only $ 26?! AMAZING! I’ve also tried the chirashi special — combination of rice with roe and uni and 11 pieces of sashimi for $ 27. The rice is also out of this world delicious. I would probably be satisfied just eating the rice alone. To satisfy my more Westernized sushi cravings, I’ve also had the salmon and avocado roll and the eel and avocado roll, both of which were delicious, as well as the salmon skin roll, which was a bit too salty for my liking. Each roll was around $ 6. There were six pieces per roll, but just know that the pieces are pretty small, so 2 – 3 rolls are good for a light lunch, but don’t expect them to fill you up if you’re really hungry! Can’t wait to try more things off the menu, especially from the lunch special menu!

The best place for true Japanese cocking in the financial district. From sushi to ramen… And serious glass of beer(32oz)

I would give them a zero. PLEASE boycott ISE Sushi from now on. My conversation with them today: Me: «Hi, I’d like to make a reservation for 12 at 12:45PM today.» ISE: «Sorry, we don’t take reservations after 12PM» Me: «So, do you think we’d find a table for 12 at 12:45PM?» ISE: «No.» Me: «Do you want our business?» ISE: «No.» Enough said.

I come here almost once a week for lunch. It is authentic Japanese food at a very reasonable price. The waiters are always polite and welcoming. Since I come here often, I have the same table in my favouriate spot every time I make a reservation. Thank you!

I was impressed by this place and it was unexpected. From the outside it does not look like much. They have a very interesting menu selection and I was very happy to try the more uncommon things instead of the usual California Roll. Now I know what raw octopus tastes like(served on a lemon slice with a refined wasabi sauce) and have discovered a deep love for mackerel. Their chirashi is the best I’ve had, that’s what I would recommend hands down. It’s really special and the raw fish assortment is incredibly flavorful. Don’t skip dessert! Their black sesame ice cream is great and the red bean and candied chestnut dish was wonderfully light and dreamy. I want it right now. Service is impeccable, so warm and friendly. They made me feel like a guest, not a customer.

I was craving sushi for lunch so I decided to check this place out. It is right by my office so it was easy to get to and had a decent enough rating. Looking over the menu, I feel like they have very decent combos but the ala carte sushi and sashimi is way overpriced. For example, one piece of yellowtail is $ 5! OUCH! As such, I opted to try the«Sanshoku Sashimi» option. The sashimi I got(tuna, yellowtail and salmon) was very fresh and delicious. It practically melted in my mouth. I have to say, it really is some of the finer sashimi I ever had — I will give it that. The main sticking point for me is the pricing issue for ala carte. I was happy that it did at least come with a side of rice. If you are going in for a combo though, it seems worth the price. The«Sushi & Sashimi» combo especially seems like a good offer, however it was just a bit too much food for me for lunchtime(hence I went with my sashimi combo instead).

After going to a really awesome Japanese restaurant I can’t give more stars to it. I went with a friend, we met in Wall Street, so as it’s very close to it we headed to this place. When we entered in a waitress attend us very quick and indicated a table to sit down. We first ordered the drinks, nothing special, we got them soon too. As per my friend suggestion, we ordered a Churashi & Sushi Deluxe. Everything was good, not super duper fresh, but it was quite good, also the wasabi was really good too. The only thing is they were a bit slow when refilling glasses or giving the change back. My conclusion, it’s worth the money if you want to have sushi.

Didn’t get the sushi, but got the assorted seafood platter. Not bad, but nothing great. I feel like everything was overpriced, but I guess for the location you can’t really complain. Fit a big group of us on a weekday night so that’s a plus. Won’t come here again, unless it’s with a big group and we have no where else to go.

Stopped by for dinner with my godsis. Had the most tender melt in your mouth black cod appetizers and crispy decent portion size fried oysters. The main entrees were delicious salmon teriyaki — crispy skin and soft salmon. however not overwhelming pleased with the beef. Nonetheless, I’ve enjoyed dinner more of the lights were slightly brighter.

Recent visit was with a good SINCERE and respectful friend for party of two. We chosen Sushi rolls as a healthy dinner without alcohol. After we finished our respective meals we sat for additional ½ hour talking without the pestering annoyance of staff ushering us out. Service is attentive, courteous and warmly welcoming. Quality of food is fresh. Pricey indeed. This Japanese restaurant music is not ear deafening loud, therefore we were able to hold an in-depth full fledged conversation. Avoid the Yellowtail sushi as it has a awkward taste.

Sometimes, I don’t get it. Ise Japanese Restaurant scores high notes on some dishes, low scores on others, and has confused service all the time. I thought maybe they’re two different restaurants at times. High notes: Monkfish liver was creamy and unctious, served with grated radish, scallions, and ponzu. It melted in my mouth and I was in heaven. Their menu is also dizzying long with small plate dishes, and it’s true to tradition with items like broiled mackerel, aji sashimi, and more. A tempura appetizer was crispy and beautifully fried. Low scores: Chicken karage was served too hot and was more batter than chicken. My sukiyaki entrée was unsightly and ugly, and didn’t taste much better. Confused service: We wanted to order a pitcher of beer. We asked a reasonable question: «How big is the pitcher?» The waiter gave a puzzled look, vanished, and came back with a pitcher to show us(rather than just telling us a number in ounces). If this alone wasn’t odd enough, when the actual pitcher of beer came, it was served in a completely differently sized pitcher.

Pros: Wide selection, pretty amazing feat for Lower Manhattan Good service Relaxing and relatively pleasant ambiance — soft jazz, dim lighting, white tablecloth Cons: Slightly pricey Some items could be fresher — uni smelled a bit off, ankimo(monkfish liver) was very fishy Overall a good addition to the neighborhood, if not quite as good as some of the competition found in midtown.
