What a wonderful experience I had with Dr. iris. I am so happy to have her on my team. The way she described my issues, how my pain management is working, she very gentle and sensitive during the examination. She gave me a good action plan not follow for the next few weeks and then I’ll see her in August.
I feel so happy to have added her to my medical team.

Endometriosis has been a battle for me since my very early teenage years. I was one of the lucky ones who was diagnosed early so I knew what I was battling. Despite that, with all the twists and turns my body threw at me I often found it difficult to be optimistic. I was at the end of my rope emotionally and had lost faith in doctors being able to help me when Dr. Orbuch was recommended to me.
I walked into her office, unable to keep from crying from sheer exhaustion of decades long battles with my own body.
I found a comforting doctor who listens, speaks clearly, offers hope with words, plans and actions. She’s treated me medicinally, surgically and with diet recommendations. She’s methodical, careful, and brilliant. With continued progress in my health, optimism from Dr. Orbuch and her incredibly helpful, kind team and unending support from all of them, my hope and health is returning. My quality of life is markedly improved and continually improving.
Don’t give up! I recommend 100% continuing the struggle against endometriosis with Dr Orbuch and her team by your side. I wouldn’t do it any other way.

Working with Dr Iris Orbuch was a wonderful experience. I have endometriosis with bladder and bowel involvement, interstitial cystitis, and adhesions. I had had three previous surgeries and was feeling like nothing was helping. After seeing Dr Orbuch, I finally felt that I had found a doctor who not only listened closely to my concerns, but was also patient and gentle with me. She took the time to explain how my body works, and how the endometriosis and IC were affecting me. Dr Orbuch carefully helped me plan the procedures that would take place during my surgery, and took a great amount of time to help me figure out which choices were best for my case. She was incredibly thorough before, during, and after the operation. Before they put me under she went over everything with me again to make sure she was doing everything I wanted and that I was comfortable with our plan. She even held my hand before they put me out so I was calm, and knew that I was in good hands. My pain has finally decreased, and I was able to keep my job. Dr Orbuch is not only an incredibly skilled excision specialist, but a warm and caring person who puts her patients first. I highly recommend her to any patient seeking the best possible care for endometriosis and pelvic pain.

I am writing this a little more than a year after my recovery. I was hesitant to write this review but wanted to be objective for those seeking help with endometriosis. After my recovery I had tried to contact Dr Orbuch multiple times in the span of a couple of months and received no call back. I was experiencing more pain than before the surgery and felt discouraged. I went to an Endometriosis Conference and heard that if I was experiencing all the symptoms that I was currently experiencing I should consider a second surgery because the first surgery was not done well. I was really shocked to hear that because that is a very bold statement. I would never say anything bad about Dr Orbuch because she was the first provider who acknowledged my pain and diagnosed me with endometriosis. I had robotic surgery and my recovery took about 4 months. The doctor that I am currently seeing is saying that robotic surgery makes for a longer recovery and is unable to aggressively take out all the endometriosis adhesions vs regular laparoscopy (big machine vs human hands). I dont regret doing the first surgery with her but she is very hard to contact after the surgery. I know that I was asked to write my review right after my surgery because someone had written a horrible review about Dr Orbuch, at the time I didnt understand who would do that. I now understand that it could be because she is not reachable once she is done doing your surgery. She is wonderful and attentive prior to surgery and post operation, but sadly hard to have a continuous relationship with afterwards. I was forced to find another endometriosis surgeon to help me with my continuing/​worsening pain.

I’ll start with the fact that I do not write reviews however I felt my story needed to said after all I went through…
After over three years of living with debilitating pain, I was referred to this doctor from one of my specialists that I was seeing. First off, I had a procedure done in 2012 for an ovarian teratoma; months after that the pain started up again. I thought it was another mass, no. After being scanned and poked and prodded and basically a medical Guinea pig, undergoing nerve block and steroid injections, pumped full of all kinds of medications, even physical therapy for all of this chronic pain, nothing helped. My local gyn had the nerve to say I was too young for Endometriosis. I diagnosed myself a long time ago. Finally I officially was by Dr. Orbuch a few months ago. She was very confident in her findings but also seemed like she was running through things like a car salesman.
My consult alone cost me over $ 500 each, which is ridiculous, no billing just flat on the spot. They knew my situation and knew I was not working some glamorous job to be paying such high out of network costs… and I have seen plenty of Out of network doctors who helped me to get the treatments or scans I needed regardless. It is nice when SOME doctors go by the hypocritical oath. So after everything, surgery was inevitable. I underwent an ultrasound that came up clear, however not asked to do an MRI of the pelvis when things definitely pointed there. Fast forward, I was set to have surgery in May right before my birthday but I didn’t care because I figured it would be the best gift one could want — to start getting my life back pain free.
Barely two weeks before I got a call from their billing saying that a $ 7500 COPAY was to be paid prior. The notice was so late, and the person claimed to have called me over a week before they called me which was near the end of April. I laughed at how unprofessional and insensitive these people were about the whole matter. I am not made out of money. All I wanted was to stop suffering. The woman in a very cold manner said well it’s that or the surgery will be cancelled. I tried to buy myself time to see what I could do but with such short notice what was I to do? No means could be met at the point. I went to the pre surgical consult and both Dr. Orbuch and her assistants were just useless. I didn’t care for sympathy, I wanted a solution even if it was alternative, I knew I was sick and needed surgery. Dr. Orbuch made it clear in the consult with her dismissive approach when I tried to get words in on the matter. No one helped me. I was simply turned away and no one from the office has even bothered to follow up. It’s appalling and devastating to come so close after all this time, just under 30 years old to be living in such pain and think that doctors want to help you.
So I went back to the drawing board and researched for a new doctor and I found a WONDERFUL compassionate, talented doctor… with way more experience and basically the go-​to man the second you look up Endometriosis. I inquired right away and got an appointment immediately. After my initial exam he indicated that the Endo was severe; but wanted a pelvic MRI done. The MRI reveled Diffuse Adenomyosis, which is very rare found along Endometriosis but also complicates things. He presented to me my options as now with the Adenomyosis, the cure would be a hysterectomy. When I came back for my decision to have it done rather than do one procedure and eventually come back for the inevitable, his concern was actually refreshing. To see such compassion from a doctor after seeing so many overly dismissive and cold ones, it touched my heart. And to know that everything was found and there were no longer any surprises was a tremendous relief.
So surgery was scheduled for the beginning of July… I am currently recovering after a very extensive procedure. The Endometriosis was so invasive that nothing on the reproductive side could be preserved so I underwent a total hysterectomy as well as a bladder repair due to the infiltrating Endo. I am two weeks today Post-​op and things are healing okay, incisions are good to go and the catheter the was placed was just removed. I am taking things very slow as with all that was done I find it best to not rush the recovery process. I am so incredibly grateful to him and his team. Having learned that Dr. Orbuch was trained by him, it makes me wonder what happened because as human beings, she lacks everything that really counts towards patient care. Bedside manner is a big deal, and turning away patients without even any alternative help is not how you handle things. She needs to go back and learn some more. Hell, many doctors do. I am just glad to finally be on my way to getting my quality of life back, no thanks to her.

I searched for a doctor after going to MANY doctors for what was diagnosed the year before as endometriosis. I found Dr. Orbuch and made an appt with Yvette her office manager — who is the BEST! She is super sweet and will help you with anything you need and even gives me a hug when I returned for my 2^nd appt. Dr. Orbuch is a warm and compassionate doctor who took over an hour and a half at our first appt together. She did not rush me at all and after my exam we discussed my endo extensively and came up with a game plan. I have been in SEVERE pain for the past 5 years and heavy bleeding, where I have had to cut back my hours at work because I couldn’t work anymore. My surgery was on Oct 27^th and I chose to have surgery at Beth Israel. My experience there was AMAZING and above and beyond anything I ever expected. I met with Dr. Orbuch before the surgery and she assured me everything would be fine and it was! Her surgical team is excellent and makes you feel at ease. I am 4 weeks post op on monday and I have to say I am ultimately pain free!!! For the first time in 5 years!!! It’s unbelievable!!! Dr. Orbuch returned EVERY one of my phone calls after surgery promptly. I had some bleeding week 2 and was freaked out and she met me at the hospital to make sure everything was healing properly and told me to call her at ANY time. If you are suffering from endometriosis I suggest you not walk but RUN to this doctors office. The care that I have received here has gone above and beyond any expectation I could of ever had!!!

I was referred to Dr. Iris Orbuch by a friend when I was looking for a great gyno for regular annual appointments after relocating to New York. I did not realize at the time that she would be the one that would give me my quality of life back. During my annual physical exam I experienced the usual pain I always do. Dr Iris asked me if I have any other pain on a regular basis. I went on to explain that since high school (I am 28) I have experienced intermittent debilitating pain and that I was at the point where it was almost constant. I was seeing yet another gastroenterologist at this time since some of my symptoms seemed to be digestive related. I had been told that I had PCOS by my last gyno and that could be one source of the pain so I had stayed on birth control for the last few years. Dr Orbuch explained the type of pain I had would not be caused by PCOS and she felt she might know what is going on.
After a couple appointments where she asked me a whole series of questions and reviewing my medical history, Dr Orbuch explained she was convinced I had been suffering from Endometriosis this whole time. Fast forward many months and appointments and we made the decision that since I was at the point where I was in constant pain, it made sense to move forward with the advanced laproscopic procedure that she performs to diagnose and excise the endo. She spent a whole appointment pre-​op going over my priorities and expectations for surgery which also made me more comfortable to be taking a step like this. The surgery was a huge success and she was able to remove almost all of the Endo lesions (there was a lot) while completely preserving my ovaries and uterus in hopes that I will be able to bear my children. I am 10 weeks post op and almost completely pain free already. I know that Endometriosis is a life long disease but I have complete trust in Dr Iris Orbuch and that she will help me manage it. Thank you for taking away my pain and frustration of the unknown and giving me back my quality of life. I am just happy I got lucky finding her, the more I read about Endo the more sad I am that so many women are given wrong information and have many exploratory surgeries with doctors that are not as educated or passionate about helping women manage Endometriosis as Dr Irish Orbuch is.
She is also extremely kind and upbeat. She is very down to earth and speaks to her patients with respect and concern for their input.

Dr. Iris Orbuch is a true expert in her field and a very meticulous, professional, kind and caring physician. I am a physician myself and was referred for laparoscopy due to suspected endometriosis. Her fellowship training qualifies her as one of the few surgeons in this field that understand the subtleties of this disease, plus she is a warm and genuine person. I understand and appreciate how rare it is to find someone like her that truly takes the time necessary to give the best care to each and every patient. She took over an hour taking my most careful history to date, synthesized my issues and made her recommendations. She took extra time at a separate appointment explaining possible issues that may arise during surgery so she could make the decisions I would want while I was under anesthesia. She prepared me so well for this surgery that I felt little stress going in and found the recovery to go just as expected. I was so thankful to in the hands of a doctor as wonderful as doctor Orbuch. I would not let my friends or family have this procedure with anyone else! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Dr Orbuch, in addition to raising the bar in the OR as a surgical miracle worker, she is the only doctor I ever had that got to know me on a holistic level– as a result, she is always able to recommend the best courses of treatment that will have the least amount impact on my lifestyle. Patient care doesn’t get any better with Dr Orbuch at the helm

Okay so Dr. Iris Orbuch, whose specialty is «Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Surgery» is STILL amazing after all of these years! I say this because I just read an awful review complaining that she recommended surgery to someone who had just had surgery. She is an excision specialist. Much different than laparoscopic laser surgery. I’m confused by why you would be visiting a surgeon if you were not in pain from endometriosis and looking for surgical relief. Anyone with endometriosis knows that a prior surgical report will tell a knowledgeable doctor much MORE about your situation than a physical exam! Endometriosis is all on the inside and can only be seen via surgery!
I’m sorry but I had to respond to that review as it was quite clear that it was written… well, never mind.
My experiences with Dr. Iris Orbuch have been nothing but excellent. She was a blessing to find through an online Endometriosis support group as my case was quite severe. My pain was being treated (by excellent pain management group in NJ) but it still would reach the level of three exposed nerves in my teeth! I wanted nothing more than to die. I am happy to report that many years post surgery I am alive and well. Dr. Orbuch saved my life!
So last week I needed to reach out to her on the behalf of a 16 year old girl (whose regular obgyn wanted to give a complete hysterectomy to). I have not seen her in many, many years and have spoken to her a few times over the phone.
Dr. Orbuch returned my call inside of three hours. She had horrible laryngitis and I had an awful connection. She was happy to listen to the story of this young girl, offer suggestions, gave me optional doctors who may be closer for her to travel to etc.
Dr. Orbuch did not have to do any of this. She wasn’t necessarily going to get a new patient from this… She did it because she is an advocate for Women’s Health… for Women who suffer from the unrelenting pain and misery that comes with endometriosis… She is a true professional and a credit to her field. And by the way, because she is who she is, she most likely WILL get a new patient from this phone call… because of her dedication. Why would you go to anyone else?

Dr. Orbuch is fantastic! She was the first Dr. I have ever met that took the time to speak with me while I still had my street clothes on, and didn’t rush through my medical history. Dr. Orbuch has extensive knowledge and skills to remove endometriosis completely. I had laparoscopic surgery with her in 2008 and have not had a single problem with endometriosis since. She also found other problems that I have never even heard of, but are now managed very well. I never have a problem getting an appointment, and consider the annual visit a gift to myself and my health. This is the doctor that cares about her patients. Dr. Orbuch is truly a partner in my health and well-​being. You might think that you can’t afford to go to Dr. Orbuch because she does not accept all insurance plans, but I feel that I can’t afford not to go to a doctor that I trust and feel comfortable with. The office is very easy to get to by car or mass-​transit, and office staff is very friendly.

Although she is an endometriosis specialist and very few people are, I felt she was giving me her hard «pitch» about why I needed laproscopy again. even though I just had the surgery with another DR 5 months before. This was with no physical exam, but she was sure I needed surgery. No talk of lifestyle, eating habits etc. NONE
She was nice and did explain things about surgery BUT felt like I was buying a car. A BMW but still .
Oh and they made me leave the other day because they screwed up my appt and never called to reschedule. They said the next appt traveled v far, would take 90 mins so I should reschedule. GOING to her main competitor uptown.

Dont be fooled by doctor’s Orbuch’s office ambiance and all the friendly staff, they have to be that way, after all you or your insurance will pay a lot of money for even a 10 minute visit with the doctor.
I went to Dr. Orbuch after reading the reviews on Unilocal… just like a lot of other people did. I wanted to find a good clinic in New York City, even if I would have to pay extra money. Comfort and experienced doctor are my major concerns.
I went for a annual and got charged a lot of money for it, which I was fine with, even though I do not have any kind of insurance. Afterwards, she told me to come in and get my results… again, I got charged the same about of money, over $ 200 so that I can get my results which were all negative! I spent about 15 unnecessary minutes with her which cost me sooo much. Usually, doctors tell you to not even bother to come in if everything is alright with the test results.
Then I had to come back to her again because she said I had to get some important tests done… which of course came out negative… again a lot of money spent… but again I didnt mind too much because I would rather be healthy and she is a doctor.
Then time came for my HPV shots… $ 250 per shot plus $ 15 for injection… shot price I understand… but injection, $ 15… seriously, like they do not have enough money from ripping everyone off as it is. Thats when I decided to do my next shots at planned parenthood.
Now the time came for my birth control refill… and she wants me to come in to check my blood pressure for which I will be charged regular appointment fee of $ 160 per 10 minutes! She will not give me a prescription otherwise, whilst she has been giving me this birth control for more than a year now and has checked my blood pressure about half a year ago. I would understand if she asked me to come in for a pep… but she is not… her excuse is blood pressure, that doesnt make any sense since I’ve been checked for blood pressure a couple of times already. Now she is putting me in danger of having no birth control… What kind of doctor would do that? A money-​hungry one apparently…

Like so many before me, apparently, I chose Dr. Orbuch based on Unilocal reviews of doctors who took my insurance. I was not disappointed. This was seriously the quickest, least painful annual I’ve ever had — truly an in-​and-​out procedure, if you will (sorry). And she’s super friendly and seemed to know her stuff. The only reason for not giving her five stars is that I had to wait about half an hour to be seen, but after that I was literally on the table for five minutes — and if I’m going to spend 35 minutes at the gyno, I’d just as soon spend most of it in the waiting room!

I saw Dr. Orbuch after reading reviews on Unilocal.A lot of things about the experience were pretty good. I didn’t have to wait forever to get an appointment; the ambience of the office and the staff were nice; I got in and out on time. The exam was quick and relatively painless — I’ve had better and I’ve had worse.
But — and this is a big but — I felt really uncomfortable with her level of experience and knowledge after seeing her. Our pre-​exam interview was short — she dodged the questions I’d come to ask with stock answers I could’ve found online, and didn’t really ask much about me. After the breast exam she refused to give me a birth control prescription until after I got a mammogram and sonogram, which I didn’t feel was necessary (the staff at the labs for those services were baffled about why she’d sent me and the tests came back totally negative) I couldn’t find the lump she wanted me to get checked out, and I’m way too young to need those tests. I got the impression she was nervous about malpractice and just ordered unnecessary tests to cover herself.
I’m not going back. Maybe after she’s been around for another 10 years.

I actually found Dr. Orbuch through Unilocal and was I happy I did! She’s the best OBGYN that I’ve ever had! She’s kind, friendly, and most importantly easy to talk to!
She’s also knowledgeable and takes the time to make you feel comfortable. And yes when it comes to the exam she knows what she’s doing and she works quickly!

I found Dr. Orbuch randomly by searching for a female OBGYN who took my insurance and was near work, but I totally hit the jackpot! She’s friendly and nice, she listens, and she’s super knowledgeable.
Perhaps most importantly, she’s really fast! Somehow she manages to be super-​thorough but still really quick with the exam, which I totally appreciate (I know I am not alone on that one!!).
And BONUS: She runs on schedule! Not having to wait is such a nice surprise!

Dr. Orbuch is a-​mazing! She is super friendly and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. I didn’t think that was possible at an OBGYN, but I swear it is. She takes the time to get to know you and does a great job at keeping your «table» time short and sweet.
The first time I went in a girl in the waiting room asked me if it was my first time and when I said yes she was like, «You’ll love her! All my friends go to her too!» Ummm… seriously, when does that ever happen?
I highly recommend her.
