an yan né seo! congratulations! you know, the hardest part of the program is getting in! so cheers to you!
i’m not going to over-​hype new york cause looking at your Unilocal reviews it seems that you’ve had previous visits to NYC, so you can measure how great or small nyc is for yourself. but i will say, when i first moved to NYC i first fell in love with the scene. restaurants, nightclubs, museums, architecture, etc, were a great source of distraction and inspiration for me. now, i LOVE the city because of its most invaluable resource to me, the people. i’ve meet some incredibly talented and inspiring human beings here, that keep my heart beating strong and my pilot light from going out. new yorkers are from EVERYWHERE and land here to push their lives forward and the best folk i’ve met here are constantly trying their best to be better human beings. it keeps me going strong. so no matter where you end up i hope you find that wherever you land cindy.

my background before itp was in studio art, painting, sculpture, and art history. i probably had the same online experience that you have now when i first applied to itp. i dabbled in flash and css/​html as well and had some minimal video, illustrator, and photoshop experience. from there the program imbued me with the spirit and confidence to go from little to no knowledge of the web and web apps/​strategy to landing a well paying job as an an interactive architect at a eHealthcare Marketing Agency located in the Chrysler building. and i humbly state that i bring a lot to the table at this agency, all thanks to the challenges i encountered at itp. thats in respect to my career, but as for my life, itp introduced me to the field of generative art and information visualization which i’ve since incorporated into my painting technique, which continues to be a challenging and exciting day to day exploration for me.
the program is fast and difficult but fun. you’ll meet a lot of very talented people that you’ll spend large amounts of time with on the 4^th floor of the tisch building. but, in a nutshell, the central focus of the program is play. i think this comes through when you look at most of the projects created at itp no matter how technologically light or heavy they may be. so keep that in mind if you decide to come here.
and for now, don’t worry about the orientation of your goals and where you’ll end up after the program. focus on keeping an open mind and feeling confident enough about yourself and your ideas that if you fail at some of them (and you will), you at least tried. because, the most important thing that i learned about creating projects and completing or not completing them is what i learned though the exquisite process of creating. everything from the cutting edge technology to he fun and frustration that comes from working with teams of people, which i found an invaluable preparation for work in a collaborative environment.
let me just say that i came into a the program without a full understanding of what i wanted to get out of program, but i feel that even if i did my decision would have changed a few times over due to all of the new and exciting avenues that reveal themselves while your in the program.
your doing the right thing by asking around about the program before deciding to enter.
i can’t believe no one’s Unilocaled about the program yet! cool i’ll have a worthy «first to review»!
