Came here for brunch this past Sunday on a triple date. Not a huge place so I would recommend making a reservation. The staff was VERY friendly! They also offer boozy brunch BUT they have RUMPUNCH and Mimosa. I love that they offer another drink besides the traditional Mimosa. The food was GREAT! I had the chicken and waffles and I licked my plate clean. I love that it was chicken strips instead of the traditional wings. This way I was just able to cut it and stick it right in my mouth along with the waffle and syrup! They also make their own butter. Will be going back!

Very cozy venue. We had a get together there. Drinks had a personal touch Food was prepared by Hyacinth herself. Staff were wonderful. Kudos to Joey, William and Kimani who were all friendly and attentive. I wish staff like them worked in all the restaurants I visited. Next time I visit will be for Brunch. I hear the Chicken and waffles are awesome. I loved the tribute to Strivers Row which was part of the Harlem Renaissance. You definitely feel the spirit in there.

I love exploring Harlem and finding out about hidden good places to brunch or dine. I highly recommend Hyacinth’s Haven! I had brunch here with my boyfriend last week Sunday. It was our first time brunching there. It’s owned by a beautiful, really nice Jamaican woman, Hyacinth who also happened to be our esteemed waitress. The place has been open for about a year and I hope it stays open for many years to come. The service was superb and the food was great. As someone who supports black and small businesses I plan to be a loyal customer. You will understand when you try their rum punch. There’s nothing like brunching or dining in a place where they value your patronage and make you feel right at home. The ambiance was very intimate and cozy. There’s no rush to finish your food. The background house music was very relaxing. You feel a sense of calmness when you’re here. I highly recommend the Jamaican rum punch with a one-two. It’s bottomless and you get your money’s worth! My boyfriend and I have been to Hyacinth’s Haven many times now since my last review. On two of these visits, I ordered the French toast and Ackee Saltfish(Jamaica’s traditional meal, recommended by our waiter), and my boyfriend ordered the Kale salad and buttermilk fried chicken and Belgian waffles. I really enjoyed all meals I’ve had here so far. The service has remained impeccable. Good, relaxing music still plays in the background. Ambiance is always cozy and chill. The owner, Hyacinth is always cheerful and warmly greets every patron that walks in. Our waiter aka bartender(Kimani) is always good to us. This is no doubt one of the best spots in Harlem.

Really cozy, tucked away bar with a great atmosphere & great drinks. The owner is super sweet and sociable, and the bartenders are super funny and interesting. Would definitely recommend coming for brunch as well– the food is great.

Completely mind-blown. Amazing food. Great service. Wonderful drinks made by Kimani, the bartender. Officially, my new favorite restaurant. Got the Jerk Burger(with adding of Turkey bacon on it) and fries(substitute for Cajun fries, instead of regular) … So, darn good. Like, literally had one of the best burgers ever and I’ve had so many, from all over. Also, the fries, particularly the Cajun fries are amazing. Slightly hidden, but this place should be packed all the time, at different hours throughout the day. «Everything Taste Great». I can’t wait to try literally«Everything» from their menu. I had a slight taste of their cheddar cheese grits(shrimp, bacon, and grits dish) … So, good also. I have to come, at least, once or twice a week now, but every week(nuff said).

I’ve only had the famous rum punch here… it lived up to the hype. We were going to order food, but it was such a ghost town in there, and there aren’t any windows in the dining room(I think the restaurant is on the basement level of the building) so no sunlight or otherwise… wasn’t feeling that ambience at all. I’d go back just for the punch, maybe I’ll try the jerk wings while at the bar.

On a cool rainy evening I was all alone for dinner and I decided to grab a meal at hyacinth’s. Glad I did because Not only did I run into an old friend, I left with three new friends. Hyacinth’s Haven has been able to create an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming. It’s a really great place to meet people if you’re willing to put your iphone down! Aside from having a great atmosphere, the food was Legit with a capital L. I enjoyed the Thai chili wings, the bacon Mac and cheese, and the jerk chicken that I’ve heard so much about. The great words that I’ve heard from people in the neighborhood about Hyacinth’s(and also the good reviews here on Unilocal) have been totally validated for me. Go give Hyacinth’s Haven a try!

This place is a little diamond in the rough. The food is delicious, drinks are great and it provides a cozy, intimate atmosphere where you can relax in. The brunch special was $ 14.95 and the bottomless drinks(mimosa, sangria or Bloody Mary) were also $ 14.95 for 90 minutes. Great deal in Harlem.

A bit of a crapshoot. We walked in here after abysmal, non-existent service across the street at Harlem Nights. We were not acknowledged here when we walked in, although they all saw us walk in and sit down at an empty table. After about five minutes, we asked if we could be served or if we have to go to the bar. Suddenly, ALLTHREE servers were at our table ready to be on call. It was a bit odd. However, we walked over to the bar when we saw the menu they brought us was only for food and not for the drinks. The drinks menu is on a chalkboard. But it’s only a list of the drinks. There are no descriptions. So you have no idea what you want because the names are not descriptive. And they do not have any«fruity», but not sweet drinks. Drinks with the following ingredients are not available here: mint, passion fruit, watermelon, etc. So — why the four stars? Because, the service was very attentive. The bartender asked us questions as to the type of flavors we like and he would make us a drink. Neither of us liked the taste of the first drink, so he happily made us a second one. My second drink was very good; my friend thought hers was good, but not great. Overall, if they can have a descriptive menu of their drinks, it would be much easier to order a drink — not to mention, cut down on the wasted alcohol that is tossed. It was a nice chill vibe in here and I liked that coolness factor.

I’ve done Sunday brunch(including Mother’s Day, I brought the whole fam out) here a few times. It is a very elegant establishment with a great menu personalized by the owner who always has a charming conversation when I drop in. The bar has about a 30 signature cocktails meny to choose from and if none of those suit your fancy, Hyacinth has a delicious homemade rum punch that’ll put a bull on its backside. As for the food, I am very very fond of the glazed wings and burger but the waffles, as well as the cheesy eggs grits n shrimp are game changers! Only a short walk off the 3, I make it my business to stop in whenever I’m in Harlem even if it’s just for some good convo after an hour in the tubes.

The bartender definitely drinks from the fountain of youth. We played the age game and he surprised me with his answer. The gin drink I had was not necessarily to my taste, but the lobster mac and cheese certainly was, even though it took a super long time to come out.

It was a bit of a trek getting there in the pouring rain, but it was for a good cause. Reason, a friends surprise birthday get together. Nice low key, quaint little place with a very pleasant owner, and equally pleasant staff. I had for the first time, jalapeño poppers, and they were delish! Would I visit again? Absolutely!

Visited for the first time last week for a birthday dinner. We sat outside which was nice. The lamp would not stay on though so you had to get up and wave your hands every now and then. The nicest, charming wait staff. What I was not impressed with though was the food. I was starving and I ate it, but I am afraid I can’t say it was good. It was just ok, nothing special. If anything I would probably come back here for a cocktail only, not for dinner if I had the choice. Worth giving a shot, however with so many new places popping up in Harlem, I would advise them to look at their menu, food quality and maybe make some revisions there. All and all we had a fun night.

Came here on a random Monday night and absolutely LOVED the vibe! It is a very laid back place with an outdoor terrace and the ambiance is great. I’d recommend it for the 25+ crowd who wants to have afterwork HH cocktails, a nice date night, or a random night out with the girls/guys. They are known for the rum punch which is AMAZINGGGGGG. Also Jason is the BEST bartender everrrrrr! I’m def gonna try out their brunch — the jerk chicken and buttermilk biscuits look amazinggg… oh and they have unlimited cocktails during brunch for $ 14.95 that lasts 90 minutes :)

Came here for dinner and drinks on a random Tuesday night at 9pm. The place itself is small, bar was packed with patrons sipping on colorful drinks(maybe rum punch), so we sat at a table. Selections were just about 4 or 5 entrees, and maybe 7 bar apps, but drinks list seem to be extensive(written on a wall instead of a menu). After debating what kind of drink I should have I followed a recommendation by the bartender and got the«Last Word» with gin, my friend got the«Stormy» cocktail. We also got the Haven Burgers. Cocktails were extremely strong(def no complaints there), the burgers(came with fries) were pretty big and juicy, a little on the bland side but still good. The cook came out personally to ask how everything was, and the two gentleman behind the bar were very attentive and seem to know many of the patrons. Overall a great local bar, great staff, strong drinks(def kudos to the bartender), and decent food. If I’m in the area I’ll come back.

What an experience. Was a little skeptical of this cozy, unassuming space. Had a negroni and thé last Word at thé bartender’s recommendation. They were delicious and thé barkeep keeps thé vibe flowing. The space is tiny and I didnt use thé restroom so I cannot comment on that. However, what you do see is a very well ordered space that has a lot of potential. I was quite surprised at this little Harlem gem. Not much in this area but be aware that these cocktails are priced at downtown ratés. Kitchen closed at 11-ish. I would recommend for a small group or informal date.

New fav bar!!! My husband had told me about this bar. I decided to give it a go. It is kind of tucked away and sometimes easy to miss. I stopped in on a Friday night. The entire staff was warm and welcoming. I wasn’t extremely hungry but I wanted to try some of bar food. JERKMEATBALLSWEREOUTOFSIGHT. The bartender was awesome and provided great conversation. This is a new bar for Harlem but I see it becoming a popular bar in Harlem. It has a very cozy and inviting atmosphere. The bartender is beyond amazing and when it comes to his knowledge of his bar and liquors HEISONPOINT. I can’t wait to go back. This is definitely going to become a neighborhood fav. No need to go all the way past 125th for a great bar. They also have a full menu and do brunch as well.
