A tiny bug just crawled out of my sandwich from here. Great beer selection but overpriced.

Toss Salad Bar review only!
As a popular salad lover among my friends, they always ask me where is my favorite salad spot? I answer, the deli store on Hudson Street in TriBeCa!
I used to work around here so I had the opportunity to try the toss salad they offer here. During lunch time like 12:00 PM to 1:00PM, the salad line is long! Basically, you choose which base greens you would like then they charge you for any ingredients you add. Since I like a lot of things in my salad„ my typical salad lunch always turn out to be around $ 8.50 which is not bad for TriBeCa area!
It is my favorite salad spot because every thing was so fresh, organic, and yet crispy especially the mixed greens lettuce. They will toss and chop the salad for you right there. The guys behind the salad bar really take their time to perfect the salad so be very happy that they do! Another reason why it impressed me so much is that, I tried eating the salad without dressing… and it still tasted amazing! If you can eat salad without the additional dressing, you know it is a salad worth eating and indeed this random deli on Hudson Street won me over! My co-​workers and I have all agreed that this is our favorite salad spot and so far no one have taken its place! No one can guess that this deli can produce such a great salad dish not even myself!!!
Perfect salad was found here for me! :) I look forward to swing by in the near future again!

Not impressed!
I wanted to like because it’s so convenient to my mom’s place but couldn’t. They are overpriced and there are better quality stores in the neighborhood…

I really want to like this place. I really do. But I can’t.
Hudson Gourmet is very over priced. And they, like some NYC deli’s where they know your name, won’t cut you some slack in terms of a little break in price. Just about everything in the place is priced beyond what it should be.
I’ve asked why and was told that their «supplier’s cost» is high so they must price accordingly. Well, yes. That is true in theory. But it certainly doesn’t seem the reality here. Let me ask: why is a pint of half-​and-​half $ 2.50 here? Why is a bottle of Perrier $ 3? Why does the vast majority of beer cost over $ 4 per bottle/​can? (Forget about six-​packs!) And forget about ice cream! Basically, if the price isn’t marked on the package (like chips, for instance) then you are going to pay for it. I find it hard to believe (although, it might be true) that HG’s supplier for much of their inventory is any different than the deli across the street or up the street, et al.
Maybe I’m just buying the wrong items, but I don’t think so. I’ve heard many people complain about the gouging that Hudson Gourmet indulges in that I simply cannot recommend this place to anyone. Much less anyone who lives in the neighborhood.
The guys who work here are nice enough. But don’t even ask for a break. Even if they know you’re a neighbor and have lived here for more time than it takes to open and close a boutique, forget it.
I really want to like this place. But alas….

There is not a no star option, I wish there was, they have 15 dollar six packs which is a crime. I will always tell friends not to go to this establishment. Worst thing in NYC.

So this is my local Deli, and I love the place. If you are there in the mornings you can get a mighty tasty fried egg sandwich (though I thought about knocking off a star because they ONLY make them in the mornings — grr…). To be honest though, the truly wonderful thing about this place (beyond their ²⁴⁄₇ hours) is their beer selection. It is truly mind blowing.
I went in there one day, when I first moved into the neighborhood and went looking through their fridges. I found myself thinking «whoah — Hofbrau? Delirium Tremmens? HOLY CRAP — Delirium Nocturnum!!! You can’t find this ANYWHERE!!!»
I then obviously grabbed a bottle of the DN and went up to pay — and then noticed the HUGE (like 7 feet tall) set of shelves behind the cashier — FULL of high quality beers from all over the world in HUGE bottles.
These days I mostly roll by after a long night of drinking to pick up some water and pita/​hummus — but it is comforting to know I can likely find an excellent beer at any time of night.

I’m watching the NCAA Final game at my friend’s place in the village and he just ordered two six packs of beer from this place (to be delivered) and it literally took 3 minutes to get to his apartment. Granted, he lives right around the corner, but damn that was quick. He may never leave his apartment ever again…
