This is my favorite«real food» Korean restaurant. There are more expensive ones(it isn’t cheap, though) that have fancier accoutrements but if you want a REAL Korean food experience, good portions and decent service, try this one. Thinking about all of the dishes I’ve had, there aren’t many I wouldn’t recommend. Both the hot and cold bibimbap were excellent, the jap chae outstanding and the galbi jim out of this world. I wasn’t impressed with the galbi tang, it was way too bland for my taste. The menu is large with a full spectrum of Korean specialties and unless you don’t like this kind of food, everyone should be able to find something they like.

This place is really excellent. If you live in SF and compare any top Unilocal-rated Korean restaurants to this place, this place deserves 5 stars. I got the seafood bibimbop, and it was actually full of seafood in every bite! You go to any SF Korean restaurant(and I had the misfortune of going to a popular one in LA too), what you would get is a big bowl of rice with a few pieces of seafood sprinkled on top. Not this place. This place gives you a bowl full of seafood! Taste is great and the portion was ample. They can give more variety and tastier stuff in their small plates. But not a big deal. And I would agree the service isn’t great. They didn’t come back to fill my water, but I don’t expect much at lower-priced restaurants. Service is fast. Best of all, they’re open 24 hours which is great being that there are so many hotels around full of jet lagged travelers or late nighters.

Definitely not the best Korean food I’ve ever had. Actually quite the opposite to be honest. The prices are average and the food was not very good. My friend and I got the Seafood Bibimbap and SoonDooBu. Seafood Bibimbap was not appetizing at all and the Soon Doo Bu was bland. The only good thing I would say is the service, but I’m not going to come back to a restaurant for the cute old Korean lady waitresses. Considering K-Town is close, I would skip HanBat unless you really don’t feel like walking a couple blocks.

Restaurant plenty of Korean people, so if Koreans go, there will be a good reason to try it! I had a Bibimbap to go and it was very tasty and side dishes wonderful, but unfortunately and it was maybe my fault, too cold when I ate it at home and the sunnyside egg was overcooked. Need to come back and eat at the restaurant!

It’s very rare that a restaurant performs so poorly that I am inclined to post a review of it immediately after I leave it;s establishment. Food — I ordered a seafood noodle soup. Looked unappetizing. Soup consistency was near like a thick paste with liquid added into it. Seafood portions were stingy and the clams/mussels nearly inedible due to sand and puny sizes; they also fall apart upon the shells being opened. Overall just a tasteless glop of things mushed together. Service — Throughout my dining time at the table, I was within reaching distance of a service person twice. Once when I was sat down, and the second time when the food was brought out. Oh, there is a third time. When my glass was refilled with water after I had consumed the tea that was originally in it, more than 5 minutes after it’s been sitting empty at the edge of the table. While the glass has been empty, I noticed that a service person walked by, looked over in my direction, and continued on. Also, two service persons had been sitting to the side watching a rerun of a Knicks game playing on an overhead television monitor. As I finished my meal, I walked up to the register to pay while one service person was using his smartphone by the television screen. Worst thing of the experience was that as I was leaving, one of the service person thought that I left no tip, acting bewildered and entitled to something at the same time. I had already left $ 2 for an $ 11 bowl of noodle soup, which I ought to mention was charged $ 13 for, and didn’t bother to notify them of the probably error. What I should’ve done when he asked why I had left no tip, was to walk back to the table and pick up the $ 2 and leave the establishment. If you are the owner/manager of this restaurant, I suggest you go to the camera tapes and see if what I wrote is accurate.

$ 22 for half a bowl of bulgogi and a pint of brown rice. Disgusting prices. I’m livid. The amount of beef can fit in my palm. Never again.

Was really hungry walking around NYC so we came across this place looking at their Unilocal rating. We got seated right away and started looking at the menu. I was with two other people and one of my friend’s went to the bathroom while our server came to take our order. My friend who stayed at the table and I ordered one order of bibimbap and one order of spicy tofu soup. Our waitress looked at us and asked how many people we had and I said«three» and that we’d be sharing the two entrée’s with each other. Then our waitress just glares at us for a good minute and leaves saying something under her breath. We got our entrée’s and started eating it and splitting it up. Our waitress NEVER came back to our table to check up on us even when I tried getting her attention. NEVER gave us refill’s on water either. I guess she was upset that we only ordered two dishes for three people? ALL three of us ended up being really full from the meal even though we split it. Food: okay Service: horrible Will find other Korean restaurants to go to in the area with better service.

I’m really not impressed. It’s cold and all you want is comfort food so should you go to HanBat? You can but it’s not the top of my list. The food was overwhelming average for me. We got a clear broth rice cake and dumpling soup and sauteed kim chi. The soup was really bland. It wanted to be comforting and delicious but there was something missing. A saving point was the wide variety on the menu and the fact that the sides are great quality. However, there is a good portion size. With two dishes between two people, there was plenty to take home. The service is okay, pretty standard for a Korean spot. If you want good Korean food around this price, I’d say wander around a bit or hit up BCD.

My experience here was good but the food was ok. I had the ox knee soup(#3) and it was super tasteless and plain. I added lots of salt and a dish of soya sauce to make it taste ok. The meat inside was meh and pretty tasteless. My friend ordered a seafood stew which was pretty good though.

I went here today for dinner. We ordered two hot stoned bibimbap dishes. It was good although a lot of the rice burnt based on how hot it was. I’ve been to other Korean restaurants and they never burned this much. It was okay since we just put the burnt rice on a separate plate to discard and there was plenty of food for us to eat. The waiter seemed clueless in some things(I wonder if he was new). He gave us a different customer’s check on accident even though we didn’t receive our food yet. We then saw him try to give our bibimbap dishes to several other tables before realizing it was ours. The lady at the end gave us our check and quickly picked up our receipt with the tip on it(so we felt rushed out). Kind of strange since their service overall was really slow. The lady also seemed to give better service to native Korean customers. I could have tried to speak in Korean to get better service(maybe) but I chose not to since my husband is not Korean. Overall, food was good but service was just so so.

Authentic Korean(mostly southern Korean) food. Went there for a quick bite. Courtesy appetizers they served were tasty. I got the pan fried dumpling which had pork and noodles and they were delicious. Will come here for a full meal sometime.

Very bad service. Because of that I gave them a few dollars tip and they were running outside after me saying that 10% tip is required. Waiter never paid attention. Food is bad also.

Sul Lang Tang is great comfort food. Haven’t tried anything else but if you want something simple for your belly, definitely a keeper.

Simple fresh ingredients, put together well, for inexpensive prices, what more could you want? The servers are laid back but responsive and the atmosphere is chill. Even the tea is delicious. The restaurant is close enough to Times Square that you can have an after show dinner but far enough away that you’re not amongst the crowds

When looking for a sushi restaurant we serendipitously found Han Bat during an unseasonal 60 degree mid June rain storm. They were open late, very friendly, clean and quite tasty. It was a perfect choice for soup and quiet. I would highly recommend this Korean restaurant for any looking for a peaceful and delicious dining experience. We started with two soup dishes which completely hit the spot.

Imagine standing in a crowded Korean restaurant on Ktown’s main 32nd street, salivating over the view and fragrance of the dishes that pass. Welcome to Han Bat, which is off Ktown and not far away on 35th street. The lines are short, service is super friendly, and the food is just as good– maybe better. If you’re with a party of 3 – 4(and I mean a party), try any BBQ entrée with sides of rice, pajeon, and sake. If you’re really feeling fancy, get their seafood hot pot with great cuts of lobster, plentiful shrimp, mussels and clams. Expect a bit of a wait before the hot pot arrives at your table and extra time for it to cook at the table.

Is this the best korean food you’ll ever get? Probably not. But is this some of the best korean food you’ll get at 3am on a Tuesday night? Very possibly. I’ve been coming here for years with coworkers after a late night of drinking, and I must say we all universally love the food. They don’t do all korean food perfectly, but they do a lot of things very well(Pajun, Bulgogi, Jeyuk Bokum, Yook Hwe). Their kimchi is also very good, quite spicy.

While the food was good the service at Han Bat was atrocious! I came here with two out of town friends who one of whom is himself Korean. When we went to the front register to pay after our meal the employee there barely looked up from whatever he was writing to briskly ask how much of the bill each of us wanted to pay. When my Korean friend had signed his bill the man looked at it and handed it back saying«No tip is included in the price.» So my friend added some tip and the employee sneered at it saying«tip is 50% or at least 10». Then he had the gall to ask«How long have you been in this country?» I was so shocked at his demeaning behavior towards paying customers that I didn’t know what to respond with. My other friend spoke up saying«Hey that’s very rude how you just spoke to him.» The restaurant employee gave a half hearted non-apology apology. Due to the horrible customer service and degrading treatment that we got I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone else. Go to one of the neighboring Korean restaurants on that street.

Generous portions served in beautifully rustic setting– I had a wonderful cod stew with lots of fresh vegetables; my friend had the tofu veggie bowl. Both came in sizzling hot heavy bowls with a sort of volcanic burnished texture/color, fitting the wood country inn feel. A seasonal array of appetizers comes automatically– intriguingly smoky cauliflower florets, savory tiny potatoes in a rich tomato sauce, several other delicious little bites, including excellent Kim chee. The waitress very nicely checked about my tolerance for spicy food and asked the chef to tone down the heat. Sweet efficient staff; and peaceful, so we could enjoy a quiet conversation. I’ll be back!
