I was looking for a quick, flavorful and healthy bite that was reasonably priced. I knew I couldn’t go wrong with a nice, warm cup of comfort food… This was my first experience eating at this establishment. They offer salads, that can loaded with plenty of fixings, beautiful-looking sandwiches and many varieties of soups & heartier«one pot» meals over pasta or grains. The service in this particular restaurant was excellent! The young man at the counter was very pleasant and informative. I wasn’t aware that you can try/taste the soups before you decide on what to order. He also let me know about the«rewards» app, once downloaded, I could save $ 2 on my first order. I decided on a soup and half-sandwich combo. I had the Chicken and Sweet Italian sausage soup. The soup was tasty, I liked the fact that the chicken was shredded and not the typical freeze dried chunks you would find in canned soups, and I even got bites of sausage in every spoonful. I paired my soup with the Mozzarella & avocado w/lemon aioli with arugula and tomatoes on whole grain. Delicious! I wished I ordered just the sandwich! No complaints and I will definitely eat here again.

I attempted to order the crab bisique after trying it. I liked it. I tasted the crab… The soup scooper guy then poured me a large serving as he was about to scoop to top off my container I asked him to make sure his ladle was going all the way to the bottom to scoops some crab. He said well it all broth… And for 10 dollars and told him to pour his shit back and walked out.

Hale & Hearty is your typical lunch spot. They have a large variety of soups and sandwiches, a full salad bar, and basic pre-made soups and salads ready at your convenience. The place is always packed during it’s busy hours between 12−2pm, filled with impatient workers on their lunch break. The line gets long, but at least it goes fairly quickly. I really like their large selection of soups and ready-made sandwiches. The real downfall is that you pay nearly $ 10 for a tiny soup and a half a sandwich. Their stuff is alright, just nothing to jump up-and-down for that price.

NOTRECOMMENDED. This used to be a good place to get a salad. But now the ingredients were terrible. Bland, soggy. Made me so nauseous! It looked good, but was terrible. The staff were very nice and courteous though. Shame it’s gone downhill. I will not have a salad there again.

I was a litter reluctant to go there but a friend convinced me to go and she was right when she said I’d love the sandwichs. I got the turkey breast with smoked gouda and it was out of this world. She had the turkey breast with avocado and that wasn’t as good as mine but good. My only complain would be the choice in drinks but then again it’s not biggie

This location will not deliver a few blocks over to First Avenue. Bad customer service.

How the holy hell I manage to spend $ 8 on a tiny cup of soup is completely beyond me. My office is near this location, so I come here out of convenience, but I time my lunch breaks around their insane lunch rush. Too many people hold up the line sampling a million soups before deciding what they want. Potato leek soup is extremely onion-y, so be sure to pack mints if you order that. Broccoli cheddar with mashed potato soup is good, if you can get over the extremely thick texture. I once had a weird spicy vegetable pasta soup that I will never have again – too salty. If they were half the price they charge, I could be more on board. This is my worst case lunch scenario go-to. At least the people who work there are nice enough.

It’s a hale and hearty. Nice that it’s relatively new in the area. What else more can be said? If you haven’t tried it, you might give it a shot. If you have and work in the area, you know it’s just another spot that gets thrown into the rotation of «what should I have for lunch today» because it’s there.

$ 7.50 for 6 ounces of soup? Which is average at best by the way. Give me a break. This broth better be made with unicorn tears and water from the fountain of youth. Update: I believe this soup was made with ocean water from the city of Atlantis because I am THIRSTY after eating this soup. No wonder it’s so expensive.

I enjoy Hale & Hearty, and especially this new H&H location. Part of the culture of NYC. Soups are the center of attention, of course, or you can also get ½ sandwich for the soup-sandwich combo option. Something new every day, and something for everyone. As part of my new régime to change my diet, I’m eating here regularly. Alert: prices are higher versus competition… but consistently good quality. Tip: Remember your soup loyalty card for an effective 10% discount… buy 10 and get 1 free. Tip: Ask for free sample. Given in cup the size of children’s medicine dispenser. Enough to decide. Limited seating also available Service is quick because I come after 1:30.

If you work in the area, then this spot is ok to grab a sandwich. I would never recommend this spot to a tourist.

Brand new Hale & Hearty that just opened up close to my office. A nice place to grab a quick bite for lunch. A large selection of soups — their everyday choices of 10 to 15 varieties, and daily specials are pretty tasty. I like the pea soup and three lentil chili. Usually get a soup with a tuna salad on 7 grain roll when I hit up these joints. Damn, those soup crakers are addicting. A bit on the pricey side for what it is, but it’s nice to have close by for a change of pace over the deli’s in the area. They also make tossed to order salads here along with a selection of sandwiches, snacks, and refrigerated goods. A decent amount of tables and chairs here, new and clean. Another good thing is that they have pitchers of free ice water with cups, so you don’t have to buy a drink if sitting there to eat. On both occasions I have been here so far the staff has been very friendly and helpful. Don’t forget to pick up a loyalty card as you get a free cup of soup after you buy ten of them.
