I came in here a bit after 9pm today. Looks like they were in prep mode to close. There were only 3 soups available. I got a large corn and crab chowder. I had to ask for bread. Now I know it’s Manhattan but that is no excuse for the price. $ 9.72 for a 16 oz portion of soup which I’m pretty sure contained either canned or frozen crab based on the tiny pieces of shredded crab one could see. It’s not like they even have wait staff. It was a soup containing cream but they should have had some sort of indicator about that for those who are lactose intolerant or don’t eat dairy. Never again.

Ordered takeout: salad with dressing on the side. Got home… no dressing. Ordered corn bisque soup… less than 30 minutes later had bad stomach cramps and other bad bodily functions. NEVERAGAIN.

Too expensive for stuff thats not even amazing. I bumped into a staff member on the streets recently and she told me that they only hire people temporarily and purposely get rid of them when it gets warmer, not give them full time hours etc. This chain restaurant is one of the prime examples of whats wrong with America. I would never eat at a place like this already I don’t eat at Mcdonalds, Wendy’s etc.

I rarely crave soup except cold weather times, but when I do Hale and Hearty is where I go! The staff in this location are so friendly and accommodating. Even though it’s fast food, you feel great service here.

Chicken Satay simmer really hit the spot. The salesperson Juliana actually made our experience 100x better by being so friendly and professional. Great customer experience with her.

Hale & Hearty is good if you’re willing to spend like $ 15 on items smaller than what you can get at Panera. But because Manhattan doesn’t seem to have a Panera, this is the next best spot. I used to pass this location every day on my way to work and got tempted once hoping it would be just like Panera. I got a soup and sandwich combo — the soup was filling but the sandwich was less than a half. I wasn’t stuffed, but it wasn’t a bad lunch either. I’m 50⁄50 about this place. It’s good but I can get the same thing elsewhere for a cheaper price. With Chipotle and Smashburger right across the street, I chose that over Hale & Hearty ongoing.

Myself and a friend ordered delivery from this location. I got the Asparagus and Potatoe Leek soup. It was ok and I don’t remember what he got but whatever it was they brought him the wrong soup and then had to bring another. My soup was ok, and the delivery was extremely fast, like 10 minutes.

Weekday late quick lunch 3:30PM Chicken vegetable soup with Orzo It was my first to try Hale and Hearty. Not knowing what to order, I picked the one from the upper listing of the menu on a board behind the counter. Then, I chose sourdough bread over other choices, whole wheat or oyster crackers. I found later, it was a mistake. The bread was dry and hard, by this time of the day. The soup was pretty good, better with black paper. I wished I ordered a large. The menu board says the chicken soup comes with Orzo but the guy taking my order said«pasta» and, indeed, it was pasta but Fusilli instead. Not having Orzo was downhearted since one of the reasons to choose this soup was to have big rice like texture in the soup. The space was not comfortable to eat. The music they played and other noise from street(?), compelled to eat fast and leave but their site has very interesting soups created by Boulud, Batali, Gabrielle Hamilton of Prune and Bloomfield from London from«Chef Series» and 10% proceeding to charities. But if I want to have a relax and quick meal, I head to next door, Pret A Manger.

Eek! not only was my «half» sandwich more like 1/3, but there was a hair attached to it! yikes, hygiene please.

Yummers! Very delicious! Try the Shrimp Bisque or the Chicken and Dumpling Soup! Only issue is that the seating area is very small and its usually busy so be prepared to get food to go.

Great place. They have a ton of healthy soup and sandwich options and its super quick, even when there’s a long line during the lunchtime rush hour. Favorites: chicken noodle soup, tomato basil soup & tomato basil sandwich. Overall, a great experience.

So after I wrote this review I sent a complaint email to Hale and Hearty corporate offices. I got a response today stating that they were very disappointed that I had a bad experience at their location and that they spoke with the general manager of the location and they are offering me a free soup so I probably will take them up on their offer and on my next review I’ll let you know it went… that is if I go.

Came here for lunch with coworkers. Pretty crowded, but we were able to find a table(this was also at 2pm, so I can only imagine at true lunchtime) So many yummy combinations for salads! Great price and the small size was more than enough to satisfy for lunch.

A lunch time staple that offers soups salads and sandwiches at a fairly decent price. They have a wide selection of soups that change daily [and basic soups that are there all the time] and is different for each location. Usually you can check what the store is offering before going online or ask for a free sample while in the store. During the winter they usually have a long line out of the door during lunchtime but the line goes by pretty quick. They have an decent amount of seating area which is outfitted with outlets. It is a nice place if you want to have a quick lunch.

My weakness is their curry shrimp bisque. UGH, so good I wish I could take the entire pot home. All of their bisques are pretty good. You can tell that their soup is made with fresh ingredients. So savory, you can identify everything in the bowl and don’t get me started on the delicious complimentary bread or crackers. They get five starts because they allow taste testing! This particular location is always packed. Busy area in Chelsea.

The air conditioning is off the hook. It’s like a meat locker near the windows. So, I guess that’s one way to get people to not linger. The sandwiches and soups are very good and the lines move quickly.

I’m surprised this Flatiron location is not listed in Unilocal.Soup in hopes to sooth my nausea sickly body was the only substance my stomach can sustain. One small Manhattan red clam at $ 4.59 was mediocre as my favorite New England calm chowder was, disappointingly, unavailable. One small fruit salad at $ 2.59 was extreme difficult to open the plastic container yet healthy. Minimal seating is available with a microscopic dinning-in food tray. Background music is recklessly loud for a soup eatery.

Obviously the food at a Hale and Hearty is good… I mean, it’s the same stuff everywhere. I enjoyed my cream of broccoli and chicken with half a turkey brie sandwich combo. It was tasty, and the store was clean for sitting and eating in. But it took so long to be served! Seriously, no one acknowledged me at first, then it took the soup girl a fortnight to ladle a soup, and then the sandwich/checkout lady wasn’t any faster. And the store was empty! Disappointing, especially when I only have a half hour lunch break.

Had a half day on Wednesday. Went out for some fun and I dropped in here the other day for some lunch before heading over to the nearby gun range for some target practice. It’s a decent place to grab a quick bite for lunch, but can be a bit pricey. I do enjoy their large selection of soups — their everyday choices and daily specials. My favs are the pea soup and three lentil chili. The sandwiches and wraps here are ok and the tuna salad on 7 grain roll is my choice when it’s available. Seems like they run out of certain sandwiches after lunch hours. A decent amount of tables and chairs here, but it is on the small side. Small counter by front window. I like that they have pitchers of free ice water with cups, so you don’t have to buy a drink. Contrary to some other reviewers here I did not have a problem with the staff. It was also empty as it was the day before Thanksgiving so there were no lines. Got my fill and then went to shoot things! Pew Pew Pew!
