It’s a bad sign when most places have an hour’s wait for Sunday brunch and this place had one table occupied. I can see why. My poached eggs(which the waitress tried to insist were the same things as eggs Benedict) were completely uncooked, the whites spreading in a clear, viscous pool into my stone cold potatoes. I ate part of the English muffin after attempting to spread the equally cold butter from the foil packets on the side. Fortunately, I didn’t need to go through the embarrassment of sending them back since the waitress never returned. When we finally got her away from her conversation at the bar she made no comment on my untouched food and gave us the bill, which she hadn’t bothered to total. First time I haven’t tipped in my life.

Great atmosphere and helpful staff. Our waitress was hilarious and answered all our questions. Had chicken with mushroom and artichoke. It was very good. My wife had French onion soup which was even better. Great place to stop by and grab a bit. All those bad reviews, actually read them. Those people usually liked it, then gave it 3 stars? Well worth the visit.

Stopped in for dinner after a movie. Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was welcoming! Fried artichokes were delicious and a great start to the meal. Tea selection was also impressive. The risotto was delicious, but the pork chop fell short. Was more of a cutlet and not what we were expecting, and was a bit over seasoned. Will try again though!

Very quiet on a Saturday morning. I stopped for breakfast — eggs, sausage, hash browns, toast; $ 9.00 plus tax and tip. Food came out of the kitchen fast. Waitress was OK. Maybe a dozen taps — all craft beers. I had a Prohibition Ale which was fine. Décor is a bit dated. I don’t recall any background music. Convenient,
If I could leave zero stars I would! This place had horrible service. DON’T GO! We were a big group of 8 all interested in drinking and eating, but the waitress came to our table once in two hours, then the owner came over and said we hadn’t eaten/drank enough to stay at the restaurant so we had to leave. Absolutely ridiculous. We all had empty glasses and we’re ready to order more, but after the horrible treatment, we just paid and left.

Really great place! Brunch and Lunch selections are amazing!!! Brought my boyfriend, his guide dog, and his friends with their guide dogs and they seemed accommodating enough. The friendly waitress was just a little bit shocked but it seems this place worked out. I am fully sighted but it can be difficult at times to be turned away but there was no issue here. Highly recommended for their Eggs Borgianon(not sure if I spelled it correctly), Eggs Benedict, delicious homemade potato chips, and ½ lb Bistro Burger. Really great place!!!

I’m writing this in the ten minutes I’m waiting at the bar after I waited ten minutes outside for someone to ask if I’d like something. A bartender even walked out twice to give drinks to the table next to us and didn’t even say hello. It’s like they are trying to set a record for horrible service. It’s actually so bad you may want to come just to experience it.

Absolutely awful. They served me a WARM caesar salad. Not only was it disgusting to the point of being inedible; it was probably dangerous. It’s incredible that they can pay their rent. The board of health needs to get over there immediately. People are going to get sick. WHAT A DUMP.

Food was fantastic! Small menu but full of flavor! We went there with a party of 9; 5 of them being children. The staff was very patient with the kids indecisiveness. We will definitely be back again.

Went with 5 children! The service was fantastic and the wait staff displayed so much patience. They had no problem cutting up their meat into small pieces in the kitchen and the waiter brought us unlimited extra pickles! All of the food was excellent — the salmon was fantastic and the hangar steak was so tender, you barely needed a knife. The kids loved the Mac & cheese with grilled chicken. Overall a fantastic experience and I look forward to coming back! Truffle fries were delicious!!!

Hip joint with some of the friendliest people you will encounter in the Village(and contrary to preconceived notions and stereotypes, New Yorkers are very cool). Mussels were excellent, and the atmosphere and hospitality even better. Will definitely return.

This place is so quant and lovely! The service is pretty fast and I’m amazed they’re not more packed. It’s so affordable for the food they provide and the location! I ordered the mussels with fries and ended up paying only $ 16 after tax and tip. The sauce for the muscles was perfect and savory. There were bacon bits inside and it wasn’t too salty or garlic-y like a lot of broths with muscles. The fries also came with a tangy aioli dip. My friend got the risotto of the day which included chicken and mushrooms. I tried some and I would highly recommend it too!

The Greenwich Village Bistro is true gem. If you want old school meets updated New York, come here, sit a spell, meet some people, have a risotto. Everyone has a story! Carla is a marvel, she has managed and owned this place for many years, she has your back and your drink and your well-being in ways that are rarer and rarer. The Bistro has had a recent renovation, a new chef, and some pretty good new food(yes, the risotto, delicious!). There is a great jazz band on Wednesdays. The staff is altogether marvelous! In an often over-clamorous neighborhood, the Bistro is an oasis — it is a great place to duck into and relax, even a tree in front of the bistro offers serenity! So many stories, so much history, great people! Great place!

Went here for dinner on a Saturday night, and we were able to get right in. I thought the menu was pretty limited– my friend and I looked online beforehand and must have been looking at some items that were lunch-only accidentally so we were surprised when they weren’t on the dinner list. However, we were able to find something to order after we got over our *initial shock* lol. Individual prices were a little higher than I expected for this kinda place, but our bill was reasonable. Regarding food, I highly recommend the mac&cheese — super cheesy but that’s just the way I like it :) and had bread crumbs on it as well. Don’t judge but we totally got the cheese platter as an appetizer for the table(so yes, cheese OVERLOAD: it’s fine). I thought both the cheese platter and the mac&cheese looked so small at first but I was shocked how full I got! Also, they have outdoor seating which I’m a fan of but we sat inside since it was getting a little cooler out by the time we got there. So if I come back, I’ll definitely be taking advantage of that. Right about the time we were leaving, it looked like a guy was getting his guitar set up so I assume they have live music which I appreciate as well. In regards to previous reviews… I see people mention they don’t take credit cards, but I can vouch they do(I doubt we were that special that they only made an exception for us: P). Might be something they recently changed.

Review does not include food as kitchen was closed. Bartender(William) was extraordinarily hospitable — prepared to go well above and beyond in order to accommodate our group. Absolutely anything we asked for — he was more than happy to take care of it. As the kitchen was closed, he suggested I go a few doors down to grab a slice, then bring it back to eat at the bar! A really interesting range of craft beers on tap. All delicious! Espresso from behind the bar tasted far better than I expected — was a very welcome part of the drinks rotation. And the price! We were there for hours, and it was definitely one of the least expensive nights out I have ever had in NYC. Fantastic value. Really can’t say enough about how«at home» William made us all feel. Will definitely return!

This place is a total hidden gem in the West Village. I stumbled upon one night when the place I wanted to go was too crowded, and let me tell you, I am really happy I did! First of all, the bartender was super nice. And they do this special drink thing with beer that I won’t give away, but just tell the bartender that you’re from NYC, and you’ll be in for an amazing surprise :) Second, the food was really really delicious. I had the charcuterie plate, the fried pickles, and the fried goat cheese spinach salad. The charcuterie was typical, but it had a good amount of meat, which I appreciate; the fried pickles were perfectly battered and came with a delicious dipping sauce; and the salad dressing was outstanding. If I had been in the mood, the lamb special with polenta or the salmon with cauliflower purée also sounded delish, though I can’t say I ate them. Finally, the vibe was really really good. There was a guy jammin on his guitar, just chillin, playing all the kind of music you want to hear when you’re sitting at a bar trying to have a relaxed but fun Friday night out(Bob Marley featured prominently), and it was at a good volume too. Also the ambience is just really relaxed and open and fun but still zen. I’m so glad I found it, and I’m definitely coming back here!

Not the best French onion soup I’ve ever had nor are the Buffalo shrimp the most delicious things ever but the service was great and the staff was incredibly nice. I will definitely go back for the cocktails and sit at the bar even if I don’t order food. I might change my review depending on what I order next time. I hope it was just a fluke and that it was late on a Sunday. Business was a little slow so perhaps it wasn’t the best quality for that reason. I hope it’s better next time but you can’t beat the customer service

I am updating my previous review of one star. The reason for that review was being overcharged for soda. Today I received a note from the manager. Ben, extending his apologies for the mistake. Very nice thing for him to. He invited me back and promised it wouldn’t happen again. That’s a good manager ! So — the food was pretty good. I was here with my young son. The waiter graciously came back offer to refill his soda fountain drink. He excitedly said yes twice, for a total of three drinks. I was quite surprised the was charged 6 dollars — for each drink. 18 dollars for three fountain sodas— overflowing with ice. That ain’t right. BEWAREI
