Dr. Brown and her team are wonderful. The front desk staff is so helpful and I highly recommend the practice. I have an almost two year old dog, and they’ve been so helpful every step of the way. They always squeeze me in if something is urgent, and are so loving and kind to my dog. Skip other area practices and use Gotham.

I have had my Felix who was a cocker spaniel he lived until 15 years old. Two years ago he was diagnosed with congestive heart disease. Dr Bonnie Brown was his vet. I cannot express the gratitude for their care and professionalism. I will be forever grateful to the staff for giving Felix the best possible care. Thank you Gotham Vetinary for helping my baby to have the best care.

Wow, my fiancée took my dachshund to Gotham to have a dental consultation with Patricia. The result was that the rough idea is that she wanted to potentially remove 6 teeth. Needless to say I was shocked, my poor little buddy is only 5 years old (he IS a dachshund and does have a big overbite) but I was still shocked. Patricia emailed me and my fiancée a 7 page PDF with pictures and a very personal email with details, follow up, and a full diagnostic of what her and my fiancée discussed. I responded to that with some questions and expressed my anxiety of having my little buddy’s teeth removed. She emailed me back at 9:15 pm asking if she could call me, I said of course.
She called me on her COMMUTE HOME! We spoke for 25 minutes about the process, the pros and cons, insurance, the evolution of the industry… I was amazed that she was ready willing and able to discuss something very concerning to me on her commute home at the end of her day. Wow.
Note: I have NOT yet had any procedure done but if their care and attention and love for my best friend pre surgery is ANY indication of the kind of care and attention that they (specifically, Patricia) will treat him with, than I can rest very comfortable my buddy is in good hands.
I was absolutely amazed with the level of care and genuine client concern that Patricia showed. You don’t see that kind of genuine nature any more.
This place is not a run of the mill vet, they really do genuinely care about you and your pet — and it shows.

I walked in around 930am (our first visit to the Vet since we moved to NYC a week or so ago) and requested to see if a doctor was around, they were completely booked for the day but accepted us as an emergency case upon my request.
My dog was severely dehydrated and was suffering from Giardia (as the tests later indicated), so he needed IV drips and was required to stay overnight.
But I was allowed to hang out with him for as long as I wanted in the back (i’ve never heard of other places doing that — it was amazing!!) It was soothing for my furbaby to have me around and helped with my own separation anxiety! I was there for hours with my little one.
The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were let back in after office hours to spend more time with him.
Unfortunate as the visit was because of why it happened, it was to date one of the best experiences I’ve had at a Vet’s.

Seriously the best Veterinary Center ever. It’s the only place we trust. They took care of our 14.5 year old Westie for years. I cant even begin to explain how thankful we are for all that they have done for us over the years. Dr Brown and the whole staff are wonderful!

Brought my dog here for an infected ear which was severely infected which they gave me the proper medication for. It took about two doses to fully clear. The vet seemed concerned but was very accommodating since my dog was very scared. She was gentle and kind. I’m sorry I forgot her name. Fast forward a few months and I had a consultation with a different woman about his decaying teeth. Even though she was sick and people we re waiting for her after me, she was extremely lovely, funny and knowledgeable. She was upfront and honest with me and not only gave me advice for his teeth, but answered all the health questions i asked her about him to the best of her ability, as she did specialize in teeth. The clients here are lovely as well. Four stars for professionalism, location and service, minus one for the receptionist as he was the only one that was just slightly rude to me. But on top of everything else, this was just a minor pain for me as the other receptionists were very kind. Thankyou gotham veterinary center for all your help. I was recommended here by the owners of my dogs parents and am very satisfied as I have had a very bad experience at a previous vet.

Unilocal can get pretty scary when looking for reviews on pet care. You want nothing but the best, a fair price, and an establishment that really gives a damn about your family member.
I hated searching on here, and asking friends. I am glad I didn’t have to find out the hard way and switch vets after moving to the city. Gotham is what I would want in my vet. Structure, caring, and the little things.
Dr Kwan was very thorough, courteous, and tentative. I could not have asked for more during our first visit. Reception was great, and the structure of the office is well put together. Reception is up to speed on the practice and even various pet care needs over the phone (which is not so great when dealing with a vet/​reception over the phone and they seem a bit clueless as to what is even going on which can be odd). After just moving to nyc, I feel more than comfortable with Gotham being our primary vet healthcare provider. I enjoyed the little things provided throughout the visit and their communication before/​after the visit.

I brought my cat here because my mom had a wonderful experience with Dr. Brown’s care of my dog. The facility is great and we chose this vet because of the loving care they provide. When your pet has to stay overnight or have surgery, they are on the main floor in a comfortable room with cages right outside of the operating room so they constantly see people and are right by the nurses all day. A lot of vets in NYC have caged areas for animals below ground with minimal supervision and I could never leave my pet there.
Long story short, Dr. Brown is harder to get into so I started seeing Dr. Laura Ward who turns out to be a «cat lady». I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Ward. she truly is a gem! She is young and knowledgeable and has great bedside manner. I had a scare with my cat developing multiple bladder stones and Dr. Ward was so helpful every step of the way. She guided me with what to do, she was patient and helped me quickly get a surgery scheduled. They gave me a high end and a low end estimate depending on how long dolce stayed in the hospital and my bill ended up being less than the low end estimate so that was a plus! Dr. Ward was going to allow me to visit dolce after surgery, but I didn’t even feel like I had to because I knew she was in good hands.
Dr. Ward’s communication is A+. She is very busy and when she says she will get back to you. she really does. even if its 9pm. I have never felt like I had to keep on top of things or hound her because I knew she would be in touch with me. She called me to inform me of her test results and explain what they mean, she called me the night before her surgery to check in and go over everything, she called me after her surgery and the next day, she called me with her lab results post surgery, etc. etc. she follows up and sticks to her word! And she takes her time and doesn’t make you feel rushed.
Thank you to Dr. Ward. Before this incident, I did not want to continue commuting up to 96^th street from the Financial District to bring Dolce to the vet, but now after this experience, I cannot go anywhere else!

I just got back from their office. The issue I had was a minor miscommunication with the receptionist. If I could, I would give them TEN stars based on my experience so far.
Not only did Patricia Dominguez call me back, she came in on her day off to see me and my cat. Her visit was BEYOND thorough, she spent over two hours with me going over his history, all of the issues I have had and this is not counting the time she spent trying to get the medical records from the Humane Society. Ahe gave him the most thorough exam I have ever seen and she did not rush me at all, even though it was her day off and everyone else was gone for the day!
She drew blood, urine and when I finally got the medical records faxed to us she spent another hour going over the blood and urine test results. The vet at the Humane Society should not be dealing with live animals, he only mentioned ONE of the issues that actually showed up in the results.
They are willing to work with you on payment and they put the animals first.
I spent a lot of time checking these guys out. The few negative reviews on here were not deserved.
For starters, Elizabeth left a negative review because the vet tried to dissuade her from putting her cat down and suggested placing it with a shelter, but «Elizabeth felts she knew best». Guess what– the vet knows best. I have NEVER heard of a vet that did not recommend euthanasia when it was called for or to agree to do it when treatment was excessive. So if Elizabeth’s comment made you uneasy, don’t let it sway you. They care so much about the animals they treat that they do NOT charge for putting an animal down! But ethically they have an obligation to care for animals and not put down a healthy animal without a good reason.
I have never felt so comfortable with a vet in my life. I wish I could find a human doctor that cared this much as was as dedicated!

Dr. Cristina Carbonell took care of my cat issues today. The receptionists were so so welcoming and amazing, Ayssa welcomed me with a beautiful smile and made me feel comfortable right away. The Doctor was so kind and straight forward. I never imagined i would spend less $$ at a vet on the Upper West side then a Vet in Washington Heights. Very satisfied with my visit.

Gotham has been fantastic! We see Dr. Ward and have been impressed by how caring and dedicated she is. Our dog has several medical conditions which Dr. Ward expertly diagnosed and treated and now our dog is happy and healthy again even though he will need to be on medication long term. Dr. Ward has been extremely good at communicating with us and always takes the time to discuss the issues fully and answer all our questions when she calls to give us results or address any concerns we have about our dog’s health. We are extremely satisfied with Dr. Ward and the staff at Gotham and are thankful we found them.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have brought my dog to this established location. I’m horrible with names but I think her name was Dr. Koch? She was sooooo amazing with my shiba inu and explained to me the things I need to look out for if my dog’s surgery area gets infected. Mind you the surgery was done elsewhere, unfortunately. The staff was great, the administrator was so welcoming and the Vet just as honest as I like them. Don’t hesitate to bring ur turbabies to them. They are AMAZING

They are fantastic. I recently took in my older cats for their first appointment in years and the staff (Dr. Carbonell and Patricia) took excellent care of them. They made a point of following up with any test results, calling me to remind me of appointments, and always remembering to cut the nails of my cats while they were there. I am handicapped and it is hard for me to catch my cats so one of the staff members actually came by my apartment early one morning to pick up my cat for a procedure.
The dental care was excellent– I was provided pictures before and after of my cat’s mouth so I could better see what was done, I was given a print out of her x-​rays too. If I ever move, I can use these pictures to show other vets the status of my cat’s teeth which is a great help.
Just fantastic care.
My only quibble is that it is so expensive to get good veterinary care but maybe that is because it has been a while since I have had to take cats to the vets. So I suffer a little sticker shock!

You lost your practice a customer (with major dental issues and ongoing bowel issues, and therefore some actual cash.) who needed help for a pet with an emergency.
Your lack of interest in caring about my beloved pet, relaying my time-​sensitive issue to a doctor (as you claimed that you would, but never did) put my cat (who was in terrible pain) in danger. So I was forced to go somewhere else. But not before I was left hanging and then had to go to an emergency room, put my pet into a more uncomfortable state and pay a hell of a lot more money, than if you had actually bothered to try to help me.
You have zero compassion and should be ashamed of yourself as a human and a «professional» in a care industry. Nice one, mate.

I had to put my cat down recently and the vet made it very difficult. She suggested she may not be able to do the procedure for me and would I consider putting my 11-​yr old cat in a shelter instead. This was an extremely difficult situation as it was since I loved my cat and I was very sad since she was sick. Having to convince the vet to put her down made it so much worse. I have had many animals in my life and never had to argue with a vet about when I know it’s time for them to go.

I switched to Gotham from a veterinarian much closer to my apt. The front desk services are great compare to many other places. Very patient for my questions and informative. I had two doctors for my cats and both were great! They are both very professional yet very caring. I will keep taking my pets to this hospital.

I have been seeing Dr. Bonnie (Brown) for years. Even before this center opened. She is just about the most caring Vet I have ever known.
She is an excellent diagnostician.
My cats love her. Seeing her, for them is a love session. She doesn’t even hurt them when she injects them.
Dr. Bonnie has been there for my animals repeatedly over the years. She helped one of my cats live to just shy of 22 years.
She never does unnessasary testing and is very fair in her pricing.
I have followed her from place to place and am happy she has settled in to what appears to be a successful practice.
You cannot find anyone better to care for your little loves.

Updating my review, since I’ve now been to Gotham several times, and can happily stand by my five stars.
We took our 13-​year old pug for a check up, and after getting back the blood and urine test results, Dr. Etter told us that her kidney values were elevated and there were a lot of white blood cells and bacteria in the urine. He walked us through options of what we could choose to do next, and we agreed that we wanted to get a sonogram to see what the kidney structure was like. (We also could have put her on antibiotics for the UTI and simply retested, but we chose the sonogram because of her age, just in case it would turn up anything important.)
The sonogram did show decreased kidney size, indicative most likely of chronic kidney disease. It also turned up a spot on her spleen. He was very good about explaining both issues, and gave us all the information we needed to make a decision — special diet for the kidneys, continued urine and blood tests, nothing right now about the spot because it was more likely nothing critical, and abdominal surgery on a 13 year old dog is not something to do lightly.
It’s been a few weeks, and our dog’s kidney values are going in the right direction, and the UTI is completely cleared up.
All of our experiences with Gotham have been excellent. The front staff are very friendly and dependable, and our vet is knowledgeable, professional, and careful about explaining options and making sure we have all the information we need to make informed decisions. The facility is clean, comfortable, and welcoming.
We’re absolutely thrilled that Gotham is our new vet.
