Gotham City Improv

These guys and gals are absolutely hysterical.
I recently came here for «Off the Top of Our Heads». This particular show of Gotham City Improv is when each Friday at 10 PM, a new cast comes on and has no idea what skits they’re going to have to act out. This makes for a hilarious show.
The Friday night shows are also BYOB, so feel free to stop at the bodega and bring something to drink.
Off the Top of Our Heads is only $ 6 to get in. The space is small but cozy and you’re guaranteed to have a good time.

Its small and personalized. You wouldn’t know its and Improv theater and School from the outside of the building because it sits in a non descrip office building. When you get upstairs you are brought into a 70 person proffesional theater used by Stone Street Studios during the day. Changing to Gotham City Improv in the Evening a Personalized Improv School and Performance Theater. The classes are kept small purposely so no one gets left behind. Marc Adam Smith who runs Gotham makes sure he teaches level one personally, not a group of different teachers as you see in other improv schools. They Offer levels 1 – 4 and are also expanding to sketch and musical, cost is competitive for this type of training.
Now for the Fun and games Gotham City Improv offers low cost shows including teams Off The top of our Heads which has won and been nominated for best Short Form Improv team in NYC. Unicorns of the Feast Long From Improv Team who have performed in other Venues including Parkside Lounge, Triple Crown and Boston Improv and include the Uni-​Form Style of Improv in the Dark. Master Debaters of the Colorado Improv Festival a unique version of Improv in a Debate Style, and Wet Pajamas Gothams Newest Improv team.

BTW I learned at Gotham City Improv and had Zero Experience. After taking their classes I bring Improv to my Professional Work Career and now bring Improv to the stage ebing part of two of the House Teams.

Gotham City has a quaint charm going for it. It’s not as polished as the larger improv performance spaces such as the PIT, Magnet, or UCB, but it is a nice space to see improv. It’s small, so get there early or you may be sitting on the stairs. Entrance is in the $ 5 neighborhood.
TIP: Gotham doesn’t have a liquor license, so bring your booze… they are totally cool with you pounding 40’s… if that’s how you roll.
