Golden Wok looks like your ordinary, cheap Chinese place from the outside, but their food and service is pretty damn good. My order was ready to pick up in 10 minutes. I ordered two of the«Health Dishes», which are steamed instead of fried in oil and offer the sauce on the side. The beef and broccoli and chicken and broccoli tasted so fresh. They even let me add green peppers to the dishes at no extra cost. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a take out dinner for just $ 12.

I was in the area visiting a friend and ordered some type of fried meat sandwich. It was tasty albeit very oily. The place seemed busy when I went in on that cold, rainy day. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll have to try my signature dish and see how they do with that.

The people on the phone are extremely rude. And I know it’s Chinese food and it’s take out and there’s a certain level of rudeness you expect, but this went beyond that. The food came rather quickly, but it wasn’t that great. I ordered sweet and sour shrimp. The shrimp was in pieces, very small. The sauce was thin and they REALLY skimped on it. They didn’t even give me enough sauce to cover all the shrimp. the egg roll was okay. But overall, not worth it. There’s enough Chinese food in the city.

This is the best of the worst I have found in our area so far. It is quick and fairly consistent. I have always ordered delivery. My main complaint is that the lady taking orders is hard to understand. It can be worked around if they talk a bit slower. The man does much better. I gave the 4 stars mainly on consistency and the dishes I order are pretty good(lo mein, pepper steak, garlic chicken, etc.) Update: I have not ordered from them since the summer and I have to say they have gone down in rating for me. Not because of the food but because of their attitude and rudeness. I ordered and they asked what type of rice… I said steamed white and I got yelled at that all I had to say is white… seriously why would you yell about something like that when it does not really matter. I am definitely looking for a new place. The only reason I did not go to a lower star rating is because the food is still the same. If anyone has a better suggestion for the SugarHill area, please let me know!

Fast and free delivery. Fast food Chinese food at it’s worst and best. It’s worst because it’s fast, free and absurdly fattening and it’s the best for those same reasons. Eh, I’ll take the good with the bad.

Absolutely disappointed in what this restaurant has become. Several members of the community as, well as my self has been loyal and long time customers of this store for more than 15 years. It used to be the best in the area. Recently for a year or a little more new workers mysteriously popped up as if they worked there for years. All the original owners were no where to be found. Now when you order they get upset if you ask that your food be prepared to your liking or tolerance, when you order one thing they fail to follow simple instructions, prices is on the rise, and the short chinese guy who wears a cap is the most rudest dude ever in person and on the phone. He has a very smart mouth and ive seen him treat customers with disrespect so much that ive witnessed several customers furuous on the verge of kicking his butt. I dont know what happened to the original owners but now the food is definately mediocre! If you are ordering i suggest coming in to the store because ordering by phone can be a disappointment

They’re quick, food is piping hot, and good. Quality of the chicken was good, which can normally be sketchy from some Chinese places. Only downside is you have to order old school by calling up.

Five, super enthusiastic stars! I have lived in the neighborhood for five years and this is by far the best Chinese available to me. The food is excellent, the staff are wonderful and the food comes fast. I’m not aware of an online ordering mechanism so I usually have to walk the 700 feet to the store to grab my food(too embarrassed to order delivery so close by). Love them.

If you are an average Chinese food buyer like me who generally cares most about American/Chinese staples like general tao’s, the dumplings, the bean curd and broccoli, etc, this is the place for you. All of that stuff is well-above average, the portions are huge, and the prices are low. Definitely better than Golden Empire, the other Chinese place on 148th, and probably some of the best non-fancy Chinese food I’ve had in NYC.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Stood for 10 minutes while she took orders of people all around me, looked at me and continued to ignore me. Until i finally asked«excuse me can i place my order» and she snapped YEA. I’ll just get takeout somewhere else.

Had better take-out style Chinese in my life, but this may be my new go to in the area. Quick and cheap(no minimum) delivery, food was well priced(and between the General Tso’s and fried cheese wantons I managed to make about 3 – 4 meals). Definitely not my favorite fried cheese wantons, but not bad. The General Tso’s chicken was made with good chicken and sauce. Will definitely order from there again.

We ordered for 7 people so we tried a lot of food! We had spring rolls, vegetable lo mein, pork lo mein, beef and broccoli, beef with snow peas, orange chicken, sweet and sour pork, crab rangoon, pork fried rice, steamed dumplings(2 orders), and fried wontons. We over ordered for the number of people we had because we ordered larges of each and all of the meat entrees came with white rice. You could easily cut back on the amount of food and still be satisfied. We had no complains about the food and thought it was delicious. We would order from here again.

Spring rolls ok. Lo mein not bad. Dumplings HORRIBLE. Find another place. Won’t be back, not even if I’m drunk.

Best Chinese food we’ve had in our neighborhood of over three years. We recommend the ribs, the General Tso’s chicken(actually made with good chicken), the pork fried dumplings, etc. The only negative — a frustrating one — is that they don’t accept credit cards.

I like the food here. They make a good brown sauce and have great vegetarian options. The portions are big, the delivery fast, and it’s cheap!

Delicious food. Just as good as any other Chinese food that I have had. Better yet, they have a respectable variety of vegetarian options. One time, an order got screwed up, and I was consequently delivered the wrong item, they were happy to refund the cost and send another delivery to our apartment, free of charge. Will order again :)

Thee worst take out Ive ever had! Literally felt like I was given slop. My trash can probably felt insulted. I’m praying I don’t get sick. I don’t write reviews but this is unacceptable because they have high reviews

I went to this place after reading that they had a great wonton soup. I thought the residual oil in every spoonful was very unpleasant. The vegetable dumplings were delicious with varied vegetables instead of the basic cabbage that I have experienced at other spots. The sauce that came with the dumplings was a generous portion that I could use in a later recipe. Overall, I wouldn’t get the wonton soup again but the veggie dumplings are great.

«One of my friends called this chinese food too healthy!» Was Uptown visiting my homie. He said to me and another friend lets have chinese and now I dont eat Chinese that much. So I go there and Im like okay. I usually go for like a «healthier meal» but everyone was having the typical chicken wings and fried rice, so I get the same thing. I get back to the crib and this food is so delicious. The fried rice was so hearty; it had actual vegetables in it and alot of it and it was bright yellow. The chicken was delicious. I usually dont like check-in to like the corner store and chinese restaurants but this place right here was on point. I cant wait to go back. Portions are large and food is good prolly out of the 12 chinese restaurants i been to this is part of the top 3 i been too!

I’ve lived in Hamilton Heights for 4 years and this is my go-to Chinese place. Chinese food in Harlem varies in quality wildly. I have gotten some real garbage and I’ve dealt with some super rude delivery guys who refused to get off their bikes. I’ve never had a bad experience with Golden Wok. I love their egg rolls, lo mein, sesame chicken, fried rice, dumplings, chicken and broccoli, etc. I’ve also ordered off menu with great results. The food here is cheap AND fast. Highly recommended.
