You should try their Beef with Garlic Sauce. Fantastic.

Came home one day and saw their paper menu slipped under the door(and I live in a doorman apartment). This is not a proper way to advertise one’s business… definitely a red flag. Two star because I haven’t tried their food just yet(don’t think I ever will).

Found a ghetto-feel type of Chinese joint in midtown. I like it a lot. Very good prices, good food. Not a boring franchise type of restaurant at all. FYI: don’t order delivery. Food tastes better at the spot or if you take out. Delivery won’t be fresh because it takes a while. Be reasonable people

I ordered the D14 Sha Cha Shrimp over fried rice with hot & sour soup & today ordered D8 Pepper steak over fried rice with hot & sour soup today. Both times, delicious. The crowd is a varied mix of locals(more often, found calling in their orders), area construction workers(the huge Hudson Yards facility is nearby), normal lay folks(lots of tourists on W 34th St) & normal office workers. I went at 1:30p both days & while busy, wasn’t overwhelmed either in traffic or speed. I waited under 5 minutes for both orders which had no advance notice. The staff is very understanding & nice from the interactions I saw. The 1st items ordered were great, it’s just the sha cha shrimp which are super big & plump cooked neither too much nor too little, with the pleasing treatment of ham bits for the fried rice. The hot & sour soup is the take-out standard, but very fully flavored here as to make me wonder how they get the spicy part in. Overall, very solid Chinese take-out.

Never will I purchase ANY selections from this place or any other chinese restaurant. After Prosperity Dumpling closed down due to the atrocious and unhealthy way they were cooking(in a alley) I was a bit grossed out with Chinese restaurants. So I went to Golden City on 11⁄4 to pick up some eats for myself after work. I ordered General Tso’s chicken special combination platter with a shrimp roll. I got home and began to grub. When I bit into my shrimp roll and looked at it, I noticed a piece of shrimp that was bitten with the shrimp waste inside, you know, that long black string, that’s actually the shrimps feces. I was disgusted and immediately called the restaurant to speak with someone who can actually interact in a dialogue in the English Language. No one was apologetic and no one came up with a solution other than a store credit. Store credit? i will never return so why offer me store credit. I will NEVEREVEREATCHINESEFOODAGAIN

I have to give this place five stars. We come here every time we come to the city. The food is cheap, good, and plentiful! Always busy but service moves along at a fast pace. Had prawns and broccoli yesterday,(yes we’re here again tonight), huge prawns, broccoli well cooked but crisp. Yum I highly recommend to anyone looking for good food and value.

So happy that after the owners decided to change, the food for the most part remained the same. The staff is still nice and the only difference I noticed other than the name change was the lobster tank is now empty. Although I must admit I only ordered lobster there twice, I did enjoy knowing it was at least fresh from the tank and not frozen. If you order any of their lobster dishes now, I’m assuming that the meat will be the frozen kind. I always order #13 from the specials menu, broiled shrimps and PFR.

Good enough for a to go meal when between trains at Penn Station. Just 1 long block away, and for the price– $ 6.00 plus change for an entrée and soda you can’t complain. No it’s not Buddakan, but I got a decent and quick chicken with garlic sauce, brown rice and a lemonade. Food was pretty fresh. Lady who took my order was friendly, and my food was ready in 10 minutes. Would stop in again when I’m in town.

I come from the 5th ave at least once a week. The food is awesome considering the price. Boneless spared ribs are my go to and they never disappoint.

Lady taking orders on the phone is just terrible. Just wanted me to get off the phone as soon as possible, before I could tell her what I wanted. Last time I’m ordering.

There are 2 Chinese restaurants on the same block on 9th Ave, this place and Ming’s. They are very similar, but after a few visits I’ve found Ming’s better. The food here is bland, the portions are smaller too. So, overall, Ming’s has the tastier food and is the better deal.

The food is great! Cheap as hell too! Reminds me of local Brooklyn neighborhood Chinese joints. The place is in a hole in the wall off 34th street and probably looked the same since the late 90’s. If you’re going to order delivery, then you should order early as they are CRAZY busy and I heard the lady tell someone on the phone that I’ll take an hour. This review is solely on the food not cleanliness as there is a B at the door.

Golden City I really wanted to like you, I really did. You left love letters(menus) all over my doorstep for a week straight, and so I finally caved in and gave you a call. A Chinese place that serves lunch for less than $ 6 sounded like heaven, and so I ordered the beef lo mein with a spring roll, and the spicy diced chicken with a hot & sour soup. I waited an hour for you, so I called you again just to make sure that I hadn’t been stood up on our date. You assured me you were coming, and so I waited some more. Just when I had lost all hope, and contemplated calling another Chinese place, you arrived at my front door step, all apologetic and friendly. And so I thought you deserved a clean slate, a second chance. I would give you the benefit of the doubt. I ripped open the bag and shoveled a forkful of Lo Mein into my mouth. There was only the slightest hint of warmth. I opened the spicy chicken and it was ever colder. The spring roll was bland, and seeing as though you only gave me two packets of soy sauce for my entire order, I had to ration it carefully. We could have had something special GC, but you disappointed me. No more love letters please.

Great inexpensive freshly prepared food. Friendly owners who are willing to adjust a dish if you ask. Conveniently located around the corner from my apartment and in front of the M11 Bus. I am a very regular patron of this place.

I came in here Thursday during the mid-afternoon, taking a brief break from volunteering to get something to eat to go. I ordered the cold sesame noodles since I just recently had some and you don’t see it everywhere. The food was given to me in maybe 2 – 3 minutes but I was a little disappointed. The sauce was all clumped up together on top and difficult to mix in with the noodles since it was so thick. There were some bean sprouts and sesame seeds on top but other than that it was just noodles and the thick sauce.

Got a vegetable Lo Mein on my way to the bus stop. The entrée was hot and nice size. Nice vegetables, mushrooms, celery, cabbage, etc. They are very prompt and efficient.
