George’s is great! The cooks are ok. Even though the menu does not change much it’s a hit or miss. So, why five stars? In one word: service. Waiters are great! They know me and my preferences. The second I sit down, without even asking me they bring me my beverages. Since I generally get the same thing, our conversations generally last under a second, «hi the usual?» «Hi, yeap» I love these guys. Five stars! BTW, their Brunch menu is very good.

Brunch was amazing. SO many options to choose from on their HUGE menu. Got the Huevos Rancheros Benedict. Was perfectly spicy with fresh avocados on the side. My daughter ordered the tutti fruity crepes. And my other daughter who loves loves strawberries ordered the strawberry pancakes. She was in heaven when she cut into them to find that the center was filled with strawberries.

Good for quick tasty food and good service. Wait staff was on it and polite. Lots of singles of all ages. TV’s to keep the unsocial occupied.

Quality New York Diner, the only one around for blocks. Very good coffee, well-executed diner fare, and they seem to be very quick with the orders. I don’t know what else you could want from a neighborhood joint.

Like most Unilocal reviews you have to go with the middle ground. This place seems to be reviewed mostly by tourists and I can understand why. It’s definitely a desert downtown for eateries at breakfast in the wall street area. I’ve lived down here for 35 years. Never went to George’s. It was rebuilt after 9⁄11. Not sure why. They did a nice job. The interior is welcoming. The service though is not entirely welcoming. We got waved to a table. No hello. No good morning. No nothing. The server poured us both decaf coffee when only one of us wanted it. I got the southwest eggs benedict which were good but the potatoes were LOUSY. They looked like they had been sitting around in a pan since yesterday. I noticed a lot of people did not eat theirs either. I always feel service is the easiest thing to improve in a restaurant. What bothers me about this place is that many out-of-towners experience this as their first eating experience in NYC. Try a Danny Meyers restaurant for service. If the potatoes and the service were better I would have given them 3 and a half stars. And my wife never got her ‘shot’ of OJ with her pancakes. It’s an average diner. I really appreciate the owner responding to this review. My wife and I will definitely give George’s another try. Maybe we just happened in on a bad day for your staff. All the best. Owning a restaurant in NYC is a tough business.

Came into NYC for the day, stopped here for breakfast. Food was decent but the service was S L O W. Server never asked if we wanted more coffee or needed anything else. We sat for 20 mins from the time we were done eating until server came again. He brings us the bill and they automatically added 18% tip. The menu says they only add for 4 or more people, or for bills more than $ 75, we had 3 people and a $ 40 bill. When you read the bottom of the bill it says«gratuity not included, please tip» or something to that effect. What started as a good experience ended on a bad note. Will not come back…

Typical NYC diner, small and cramped but decent food and good service. Luckily, I was alone but there is no way I’d come here if I were with more than 2 people. The wait would be years because the place is so small. The eggs with cheese was great but the pancakes were average. The servers were attentive and welcoming. I ate here two days in a row, so that says a lot because of I don’t like a place I don’t go back. All and all it was really good food and a 5 minute walk from the WTC memorial and right across the street from a subway stop.

Food and service is terrible. Ordered oatmeal which didn’t even come with any flavor or fruit. It was just a bowl of flavorless oatmeal. The omelette I ordered ended up costing $ 20 because the server added extra substitution charges such as replacing sausage for turkey sausage and charging me extra for onions when the omelette didn’t even have the onions or me even ordering onions. To make things worse, the egg also had egg shells in it. The waiters seem like the bus boys and the owners needs to figure his place out. If you are not a tourist, don’t bother going into this place. I rather go to McDonalds for breakfast. The server was completely rude and ignored me(as me telling him I didn’t even order onions on the egg and him charging me for it but then completely ignoring me).

Early Sunday morning looking for a meal. The hotel recommended George’s. I ordered the Southwest Eggs Benedict, and a milkshake. They both exceeded my expectations! The staff were friendly, the food arrived quickly, and was very good. George’s is better then most diners!

I asked the doorman at our hotel for a local diner. He recommended George’s. I ended up having breakfast there five days in a row. This is a typical New York diner. They serve breakfast all day. I tried the waffles, pancakes, and the egg and bacon sandwich. All were perfect. The coffee is nice and strong. The staff are all very nice and attentive. It feels like a family owned diner. I had the same waiters every day. I cannot comment on the other meals but breakfast is definitely a winner here.

Quick service and a nice looking menu which after a long plane ride and a lot of walking excited me. The food came pretty quickly but it sausages in the omelet were pretty cool, not sure if they weren’t cooked long enough or it sat for a bit but between that, bland jam and the food overall being kind of bland I was disappointed. edit: The owner replied to this review, sadly I was visiting NY so I can’t give it another try. Hopefully this was a random occurrence, the fact that the owner is responding to reviews on Unilocal makes me think that may be the case.

This place was right around the corner from our hotel and we were starving, so we decided to stop in for breakfast. The staff here are all business and teeter on the rude side. The food is rather dreadful and run of the mill. I had the corned beef hash. My significant other had some sort of omelette. Let’s just say that it’s fairly evident that zero finesse and thought go into the preparation of food here. You get what you pay for.

Nothing else to say, hands down one of the best burgers in the downtown area. I order my usual, classic cheeseburger medium, fries, jack, pickles and a ice cold brewski. I was a bit disappointed they did not have blue moon beer so i had to go with Heineken. Overall fast service with a smile.

I know the consensus is three stars but we had a 2−½ star experience, and we’re rounding down. On the plus side, the location is on a corner and it looks like a good diner from the outside with lots of menus etc trying to draw you in. But there were major demerits to the place: 1. Our waiter tried to give my friend strawberry yogurt for the blueberry that was ordered. As it looked like strawberry, we asked and he said they were out. He should have not brought the wrong one in the first place. He didn’t apologize and wasn’t very upfront about it. It was also a tiny amount of yogurt and was a rip-off in my view at about $ 3. 2. I’m also feeling they gave us regular coffee instead of the decaf. He showed the black coffee pot but pointed to a tiny label on it that said«decaf.» It kept me up all night. It was $ 2. 3. The place is small inside. While the front door has an enclosure to help keep the place a little warm, they started using the other door which blows a ton of cold air inside when it opens. After that kept ruining our talk, we paid and left. 4. There are other places around and will try them. Seeing that the owner comments on negative reviews, no we’re not planning to go for lunch!

Enjoyed my breakfast. Huevos Rancheros Benny with OJ and coffee. The potatoes weren’t hot but I couldn’t be bothered to send them back. The eggs Benny were fantastic. The perfect amount of spiciness. Also, maybe it’s a NY thing, but why would you bring milk to the table for coffee instead of cream?

Ordered delivery from here for lunch, the food was good and the delivery was fast. I found they add a little too much onions in my food that is my only complaint. Otherwise a good place to order for lunch when you are looking for something quick.

Steady reliable old school diner. My Dad used to get his lunch here in the 90s when he was working and now I work in FiDi and come here for breakfast. Solid outdoor seating on Greenwich. Plenty of indoor tables and a separate take out counter. Gets busy at lunch but the staff is efficient and professional. They do refill your coffee reliably. They do being the check quickly when it is requested but they don’t breathe down your neck if you are lingering over coffee chatting with your friends during a not too busy hour. This is plain and simple a real nice classic New York diner. Nothing fancy, nothing crazy. Dependable and pleasant for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

If you’re hungover and need a quick delivery of edible food, this is it. Nothing special. NOTHING. It’s any other diner/deli food. It’s just fast, cheap, and they’ll get your order right.

I ordered the french toast via seamless and was so disappointed that it arrived the way it did. For some reason I thought that having such a variety of it on the menu, meant they knew how to make it. The thick, challah bread seemed to have hardly been dipped in the egg mixture because the toast actually felt«toasted» as opposed to the soft, yet firm, texture french toast is known for having. Well what do you do when you’re craving french toast after your restaurant fails to make it? You whip up your own egg mixture and make your own! Twice cooked french toast is DELICIOUS! Oh, and so was the sausage! I hope management speaks to the cooks about this because I would love to continue ordering from them. Love, Nicole
