Now I’m not Guyanese and I won’t say I know their food but this was mmmmmmm alright. This wasn’t the greatest thing but it wasn’t the worst. The place was kind of boring no music no tv no friendly convo nothing but the prices weren’t bad. I would go back if only for the curry duck and salt fish and bake and the fact that I can get things I haven’t seen since Jamaica.

Just had lunch with coworkers here. My friend had a veggie roti, while another had spicy shrimp with the brown rice, I enjoyed an order of white rice and fried fish with a side of mashed pumpkins. Everything was decent. I was told the food was Guyanese cuisine which is a first for me.

I missed my flight and ended up with 6 hours to kill at JFK. Took the free Airtrain to Lefferts Boulevard station and after walking a half-mile north, I had a wonderful goat curry roti with a bottle of Ting — nice.

I love fresh roti with lentils(dal) and I got some at this little storefront restaurant on Lefferts Blvd just when I needed some lunch. .I had a choice of meats to go with it… I had duck curry and stewed beef, cooked Guyanese style by the friendly staff… also a choice of soft drinks including Guyanese soda. I’ve never seen that! …the cream soda was excellent, and the restaurant had a few tables to sit and was very clean. .ill go back when I pass there again..

I went yesterday for the first time and ordered a roti(which is very large) and two veggie dishes(bhaigan choka and same curry) and the total for that was $ 6, which is reasonable. I also bought two orders of cassava balls(2 balls each) for $ 1 per order. The quality of the food was great. It was well seasoned and flavorful and the servings were larger than I’m used to getting at other roti shops. The pepper sauce is very hot! This will be my go to place for West Indian food, as I’ve tried out many of the Liberty Avenue offerings and the veggie food here tastes much better than the others, in my opinion.
