The atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice, unfortunately it is incredibly pricey and not good. A small plate with a few thin slices of cheese is 11 $. As for the entrees, the fish we got was 16 $(lowest price, can go up to 22 $), fried instead of grilled, uncooked and warmed up in the microwave. Having a beer at the counter can be nice but I would definetely not go back as I felt ripped of.

Every menu in the restaurant is in Spanish. However, I felt uncomfortable not so much — thanks to Google in my iPhone. The appetizer, bread and butter was horrible. I hate hard, cold bread. Beef and habichuelas(bean soup) were good. It costs about 10 dollars.(for lunch set) Expensive. There are many restaurants in washington heights which can serve similar quality of food less expensive. I don’t think I will visit again.

Feels like sitting down at a friend’s parent’s house in Spain. To be clear, this is Spanish food, not Mexican. Expect Paella, Anchovies, Mussels, Fish, and Chorizo. Main meals are large enough to split or make a family-style sharing portion out of. I ordered the Spanish Chicken and received two large chicken breasts with a tomato chorizo sauce and a few veggies. Tasty– no complaints at all. The complimentary bread was a bit hard and came with butter rather than olive oil– but I that’s what more Americans expect anyway. A solid option in this area and a huge meal that may actually end up being two meals if you can take it to go.

The food is so delicious — I recommend them to the max. This time I ordered a Bacalao salad — so good and on point. I ordered a small order of rice to accompany the salad. All smiles from my face — however, they aw on the pricey side but well worth it.

Went here after a show at the Palace Theater for a quick eat. We should of just grabbed a slice of pizza down the block instead. We sat down, ordered 3 appetizers thinking it would be quick but took almost an hour. Sorry Galicia but 4 crocketts, grilled chorizo and a tortilla española doesn’t take an hour to make! Unacceptable. Food finally came out just when we were about to pay for our drinks and call it quits. The cod crocketts where good, the chorizo was ok but not as good as others from comparable Spanish restaurants. The worst was the tortilla, they should be ashamed calling it «Tortilla Española»! It was basically a big, round and think western omelet! Barely any potatoes which is the whole point of Spanish Tortilla. Finally, the service is laughable and worse, they serve other foods specially Dominican at a place that should be focusing on great authentic Spanish and Galician food. If I want Dominican food, I have a million other better options in the neighborhood. Service was poor and the place is claustrophobic. Overall, a sad place to experience authentic Galician/Spanish food… This place has seen better days. Want to experience REAL Spanish food and tapas? Visit«La Nacional» on 14th St., «100 Montaditos» in the village or make a trip to the Ironbound section of Newark for«Casa Vasca» «Fornos’s of Spain» and«Spanish Tavern».

I can’t believe this restaurant exist in our neighborhood since they waste people’s time to take the order, make us repeat and then at the end tell us that they don’t deliver after 161 and we are on 159th st… The owner and the delivery people are really mean and selfish for doing this customers repeatedly. I wish people start recognizing their insanity and their business is impacted for them to understand not to harass the customers. VERYDISAPPOINTED

Only did delivery, but both of us fell in obsession with their sopa de gallega. In Disney’s terms, it’s an Indescribable Feeling HAHA — it’s enough to say YOUHAVETOTRYIT! Now my 2nd favorite soup in NYC which still rates it an A+(behind sopa de lentejas at a place in Jackson Heights…). I know for Unilocalers it’s crazy to rate a place based on 1 dish and 1 experience, but I will re-review for that 5th star(hopefully not less) and for legitimacy if I go for dine-in, but as a delivery and first impression this was a great moment in my life; the woman who answered was very polite in English and Spanish, helpful, and quick, and the delivery was fast.

Hidden gem… Galicia serves up the best sancocho in the city… Actually the best I’ve had outside of my family’s! Their food is speedy, service is quick, and their lunch specials are great. You can eat a heaping bowl of sancocho with rice and avocado for under $ 6 for lunch. AWESOME

Three of the six people in our party became quite ill after eating the octopus. I would not recommend it.

Great soups and entrees. Fun to sit at at counter and enjoy super cold beers and jamon Serrano. A must try if hungry in the area.

The place doesn’t look like much when you walk in. However, the food’s really good and plentiful. Everything is made to order so fair warning, it may take some time. The waitress was also really friendly and polite.

The staff speaks Spanish. The food is homemade. When my heart strays to the paths of Galicia, this is where I go.

I have been living in Washington Heights all my life and all my life have I been to Galicia! The staff knows my family and myself and the environment they give off is amazing and make you feel at home. Things to try: –Their coffee! BEST in Washington heights.(Go in the morning though) –Chicharon de Pollo!(I have been eating chicharon de pollo since I can remember!) –Filete de pescado. I currently am living in NJ but I still make my travels to New York to eat with my family.

Highly recommended Spanish(sorry Galician) place. You’ll find much of Dominican dishes but in addition also pulpo alla gallega, very nice pollo and lots of seafood If you want food from Spain that is not tapas in a warm and unpretentious place where the owner speaks the real Galician way it’s probably the best place in Manhattan. Tint bit more expensive than other places around and(as expected) very affordable compared to other Spanish options in the city.
