I love the east village location so i wandered up to this midtown spot, which has a wider menu, probably owing to the fact that ma peche is underneath. If uve been to either of these places, then you know the vibe is underwhelming. Its not as put together and the crowd is mostly suits. If you look past that the sweet and spicy chicken strips are really good here. A nice blend of spices, thick pieces of meat, cooked well. It doesnt even need the ssam sauce, its good as is. Usually chicken needs dipping sauces but this doesnt. Im pretty sure they dont have this kind of chicken strips at the dt location.

3.5 stars. The food here wasn’t super great, at least for me growing up in a Chinese family, many of they flavors were familiar, and just put into a different vehicle. We actuLly came here because or experience at his chicken shop in east village was pretty spectacular and were craving that sandwich. Unfortunately the sandwich was a disappointment, the meat was dry and the chicken was soggy… What happened? We also got the mission Chinese chicken tenders — flavor was on point for Sichuan food, but was a little salty. If it was over like a bed of rice that would have been great. Or can you imagine if that was made into a fried rice? Delicious. The only savior of the meal were the fries… Well seasoned and crispy throughout the meal. Probably wouldn’t come back again unless there are new items on the menu

the food was tasty/ok, service very nice, and space was cool to hang out. you are actually sitting in the balcony alcove to the restaurant below and the noise does carry up. while i agree its a nice experience, the serving size and pricing really doesn’t justify the $ 3 fries that could have been from anywhere else…

I’ve been here two times. The first time I went, I had the juicy luicy, which is no longer on the menu :’(. It is basically a really delicious burger with cheese in the middle. My friend had the crispy chicken sandwich, which was everything a fried chicken sandwich should be. This is definitely a cute little place that is tucked behind a hotel on 56th street. On both occasions, it was not busy.

Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, nachos(split), and a drink and came out to $ 19.60 each. The spicy chicken sandwich is literally a bun with chicken and some pickles in it. No lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, or any topics on them, so a little underwhelming. The chicken itself was pretty good(thick and meaty), unlike other sandwiches you might find where the chicken is thin and the bread is really thick. On the otherhand, the nachos was just not that great, period. Maybe it’s because we got takeout but all the toppings weren’t dispersed throughout the nachos. There was a lot of sauce on it and it made it really hard to taste the meat that was on it. The chips were pretty oily too(not my personal preference).

David Chang does it again! Fuku+ is a solid addition to the Momofuku brand. I was pleasantly surprised how delicious the Spicy Chicken Sandwich was. The sandwich was well seasoned and a bit spicy; however, it paired well with the Ssam sauce. Honestly, I think could’ve taken a little more heat from the sandwich. Another awesome part of the meal was that between the sandwich and the fries, it would only cost you around $ 12.

MEH. It’s a thin piece of chicken, heavily battered, fried, and then put in between a bun. Nothing I would ever crave, the chicken itself is nothing special. Combined with other mediocre ingredients, you get a pretty lackluster meal. Oh yeah you’re paying 8+ dollars for this thing. Cash only. There are better friend chicken sandos on this island.

A long overdue visit since the fuku chicken sandwich first debut! This location is great as you can get ma peche, fuku and the milk bar all at once! But it’s great bc you can eat at fuku and avoid the lines at the milk bar and be served the same desserts! To get to fuku, you must walk past the milk bar and avoid heading downstairs to ma peche. You can seat yourself and a waiter will come service you. Our party of 3 arrived around 8pm on a Sunday and there were plenty of seats. We each ordered a spicy chicken sandwich($ 8), and shared the tater tots($ 3) and the spicy loaded nachos($ 16). The spicy chicken sandwich was large, fried to a nice crisp, and flavored well. But the name was deceiving because there was no spice. The tangy ketchup and the honey condiments were great complements to the sandwich. The tater tots and nachos were standard. The tots were fried well and reminiscent of lunches in grade school. The nachos were a bit too oily and just your typical ma chose loaded with cheese, jalapeños, sour cream and minced beef. You can really screw up these fried foods, so they tasted great. The nachos really weren’t worth the hefty $ 16 price tag. I enjoyed the food and the ambience. I will be back to try the mission chinese fuku fingers!

Love David Chang, so I’m almost embarrassed that it took me so long to come here and eat at Fuku+. Located above Ma Peche and behind The Milk Bar, the location is pretty easy to find. If not, the employees are happy to point you in the right direction. The space in Fuku+ is a little small, but there were a good amount of tables on a Wednesday night after work around 6:30pm. You seat yourself and someone will quickly come over and bring you water and menus. We just opted to sit at the bar. The menu is fairly small, but has a lot of great choices. We came specifically for the spicy fried chicken sandwich and Mission Fuku Fingers. We also shared a side of tots. So disappointed they didn’t have the wedges that many people posted about. Pass on the tots and get more protein! The spicy fried chicken sandwich was not spicy at all. It was crispy, moist and flavorful but I felt like it was lacking something. The bun was soft and fluffy and it was topped with pickles. I added the Ssam sauce myself and it got better. But was still not satisfied. My absolute favorite was the Fuku Fingers, so I’m definitely getting that in a sandwich next time. The fingers were aromatic and spicy. Loved all the flavors when I tried it. It was crispy, yet retained it’s moisture. Service was great and the bartender was entertaining. Didn’t drink but the alcoholic bevvys looked delicious as the bartender was cranking them out. I liked the idea of having honey as a condiment. It paired well with the spicy, Fuku fingers.

Overall the food was fine but there were too many issues to give anything above 3 stars. Fuku+ is located behind the milk bar and to the right of Ma Peche and other than the writing on a blackboard there is no sign until you are already in the restaurant. It’s unclear where you order or if you seat yourself. We ordered at the bar. We took a place at a standing table in the middle of the very small room as no seats were available. When we noticed there were chairs in the corner we moved them to our standing table only to be told this was no allowed. The group after us tried to use these same chairs at the bar only to be told as well that it wasn’t allowed. By the time the fourth group tried to use the chairs the staff finally relented and let us use them as well to sit. So weird. The chicken finger sandwich was good but not worth the $ 9 cost. Given it was small I need something else. Wanting to spend under $ 15 for my lunch I went with the tater tots for $ 3, which were ok as well. The portion size was fairly sizeable but they were too greasy overall to eat the entire bag.

Dunno why this place doesn’t have higher rating it’s seriously good! It’s a cool place and the food, well, the minime chicken is dry and a little mediocre but everything else is absolutely delicious, and I’m not gonna penalise them for one menu item that’s silly. It’s way better than a lot of places around the area that are overpriced and ok tasting. I’m only here for two weeks and have been there three times already, contemplating the fourth at the moment.

Before I had ever set foot in the environs of Fuku+, I had read a few Unilocal reviews that I now wish I had never read. I think I may now be scarred for life, and may never quite recover from the trust issues that continue to plague me. You see, these reviews, which were written by some pretty well respected folks around here, said that the Mission Chinese food Fuku Fingers were not very spicy at all. I am not a wimp when it comes to spice; I grew up in South Asia, and practically lived on spicy foods during my formative years. Yet, these fookin’ Fuku fingers had me sweating so profusely that the diners at my neighboring tables thought I was about to die of a heart attack. By tomorrow morning, I’m sure my insides will be well on their way to the ocean to feed the fish and other marine life. I will spare you the details. Suffice it to say that this dish is not a great lunch option if you have to go back to work after the meal. The Fuku Bites, which come with an interesting sauce, are perfectly tasty. The JD sauce is a great balance of sweet and savory. The Minime chicken sandwich is the reason I continue to come to Fuku+, because I will never stand in line for a Chick Fil-A sandwich in New York City. I’ve seen some other reviews mention this sandwich as a less controversial alternative to Chick Fil-A, and I think that is a pretty accurate description. Of course, it is slightly smaller and slightly more expensive than the Chick Fil-A sandwich, but then, we’re in New York City. The Juicy Lucy tastes like a cheeseburger because, well, it is one. That’s not a bad thing. I love that the cheese is stuffed inside the hamburger patty, which makes it deliciously messy. Fuku+ will continue to be my lunch spot during the week, but I will probably stay away from the Fuku Fingers. Fool me once, shame on my Unilocal friends!

3.5 Yet another addition to David Chang’s formidable empire. Fuku+ is located at the bar of Ma Peche in what is a bit of an annoyingly inefficient layout that I feel is only accepted because it’s David Chang and he can. At Fuku+, you can order a mini version of the growingly popular Chicken Sandwich along with other chicken dishes and sides. Think of it as the chicken leg of Chang’s business(pun not intended but I don’t hate it). Doors open at 12pm for lunch and there was a healthy line by the time I got there at 1:30pm. Since I was a single diner and willing to stand at the bar, I was seated immediately. Basically, you are taken to the bar where you can order to-go or dine in. There is very minimal seating in the tiny space and, frankly, vying so hard for such uncomfortable real estate does not appeal to me in the slightest. Quick and dirty at the bar suits me just fine, thanks. Got the Mini-Me Chicken Sandwich along with the Juicy Lucy slider, and washed it all down with a Dreamsicle slushie. I was in the mood for something refreshing and the orange creamsicle slushie hit the spot nicely. At first glance, the Mini-Me sandwich looks like a sad little presentation of fried chicken, pickles, and mayo. To be honest, that isn’t far off the mark because that’s quite literally all it is, but the flavors are there. The fried chicken packs a lot of flavor with its spices and the pickles add a welcome bite of acidity — solid little chicken sandwich. I recommend eating it with ketchup instead of the ssam sauce, as the ssam sauce makes it overly salty. My favorite part of the meal was definitely the Juicy Lucy. A glorified stuffed patty melt, this little slider literally oozes cheddar at first bite. Again, this burger is super simple, but every element adds and doesn’t detract from the final product– house-made thousand island and grilled onions both add a sweetness that seals the deal when paired with the super juicy beef patty. There’s something so satisfying about watching cheese explode out of your patty and watching it continue to cascade until the end — like a lava stream you can’t take your eyes off of. Overall, the service and the dining environment aren’t great and I have a hard time believing that Fuku+ would enjoy any success under another owner; but alas, David Chang waved his magic wand, made it hip, and fast-forwarded to you cramming yourself into a weird space to eat bare-bones chicken sandwiches and patty melts. C’est la vie.

I’m very happy with my visit here, and love that they are using this location as a bit of a test kitchen with an expanded menu relative to the original Fuku in the East Village. I know I was initially disappointed Fuku+ doesn’t serve the same chicken sandwich as Fuku(they only serve a smaller version called the«mini-me»), but if you support sustainable dining then you’ll hopefully be satisfied with the reason it is this way. Fuku /Fuku+ don’t only buy the enormous chickens from their source, they buy the smaller ones too so as not to waste, which gives the restaurants the opportunity to serve their«mini-me» chicken sandwich at Fuku+ while also serving the full-size version at the East Village location. I love Mission Chinese and was very pleased with the Mission Chinese chicken fingers at Fuku+. It had that authentic Szechuan taste and spice(actually, they probably should warn people that it’s a very spicy dish as a few of my colleagues underestimated the heat). The solution to the spice was, of course, a michelada, which Fuku+ makes my dressing up a Tecate beer with worcestershire sauce, Ssam sauce, and the usual spices. I also tried the Fuku bites which are basically chicken nuggets, and they were great too(the sweet honey, ginger, and jalapeño dipping sauce is out of this world). The Mission Chinese chicken fingers were pricey at $ 16(although there was a good portion), but the rest of the menu is relatively cheap. The«mini-me,» Fuku bites, and michelada are all $ 6 each. I would come back to Fuku+ in a heart beat to fill my greasy chicken sandwich needs, but I’m also excited to go back and give the sichuan pork flatbread a go.

Following this fried chicken sandwich trend that probably started with the advent of the Fuku spicy chicken sandwich, Fuku and Fuku+ were a must visit. I did try Fuku, which in comparison, is a bit more hole in the wall and smaller, and their menu is slightly different. In terms of the venue space and with the wait service, I would say Fuku+ is the better of the two locations. The menu is also better, featuring specials like the Mission Chinese Fuku Fingers(though I’d say skip this one.) and the Juicy Lucy. And that is why we came here, for the special items — Juicy Lucy and Mission Chinese Fuku Fingers. While the chicken sandwich is a great option, we wanted to try the Juicy Lucy, which is exclusive to the Fuku+ location. It was a pretty tasty yet standard burger, but with the addition of melted cheese inside the meat patty. Had this medium rare. It was a good burger, but it wasn’t particularly special or much different than any regular cheeseburger. The cheese oozes out with each bite, which does add a nice juicier texture and flavor. I would say it is a little messy though. The potato bun was nice and soft. As for Mission Chinese Fuku Fingers, we thought this was a major miss. Again, much too salty and overseasoned. Like the fries, all season and can’t really taste the chicken. Could also use a lot more spice considering it is from Mission Chinese and labeled as very spicy. If you are hesitant because of the heat level, I wouldn’t worry at all. Overall, Fuku+ is better compared to Fuku as there is actual seating and wait service. It’s a nice bonus. I would give a slightly lower rating, but I base this on comparison to other chicken sandwich spots, and this still remains my favorite(and I am guessing their chicken sandwich here is the same as at Fuku). The food is more or less the same at Fuku and Fuku+, minus the special menu items. I would return for the chicken sandwich or maybe a Juicy Lucy, but unless they fix their fries, I would definitely skip. Mission Chinese Fuku Fingers as well perhaps.

Fuku+ is the fourth one I’ve visited for momofuku series and it continued to impress me. Unlike Ko which serves high end and noodle bar which serves a particular type, I would say fuku+ is definitely leaning towards the general public, where you can get fried chicken or burgers. Among its not-so-large menu set, I especially liked their Sichuan pork flatbread(four slices in total) and minime(indeed mini in size, yet chicken was tender and crispy). Line was ridiculously long during lunch hours and this place did not take reservation. Fortunately I work so close to here that I literally counted down minutes before stepping outside my building. They did have standing tables and turnover rate was actually not low. Will for sure pay a visit to the real fuku place and try the real chicken sandwich!

Quick, the buzz hasn’t picked up yet. We were able to walk in at lunch time. You may be reading about the need for a reservation to pre-order the XL meal. Not necessary just yet. We had the MCF chicken fingers, the major collaboration dish about which Grub Street races. They look spicier than they are. The mini me chicken sandwich is so juicy and crisp, but not flashy, topped with only pickles. The juicy lucy is very gooey with cheese both inside the patty and on top; you need to like that texture. Since the food is on the fiery side, the dreamsicle slushy was a huge relief and allowed me to get through the whole meal safely.

I’m so tired of every awesome new restaurant being below 14th street. I mean I get why, but if you live uptown it’s kind of rough. So when fuku+ popped open like a spicy little jack in the box out of Má Pêche I was fairly excited. I’d already been to Fuku, which I gave 4 stars, so I was kind of expecting a similar deal here, if not a bit worse. Well, honestly if you go to one and then the other you will see that Chang learned a lot from his first Fuku, thought stuff over, and then opened this place. The Mission Chinese Fuku Fingers are worth the trip as much as the fuku sandwich(I still like the normal pickle more than the secret menu daikon on the sandwich btw) but woah The Mission Chinese Fuku Fingers are actually fuku chicken fingers covered in the seasonings and sauces of Mission Chinese’s fairly famous Chonqing Chicken Wings. So, they are basically Chonqing Chicken Wing Fingers and they are just as mind blowingly tingly and flavorful as the original, plus they are made with white meat, unlike the thigh in the sandwich and the fuku bites. I am glad they made the namesake sandwich smaller because the other stuff you can order is pretty absurd. The Juicy Lucy burger, salt and pepper fried shrimp, a much better salad than the weird grain one at Fuku, Sichuan Flat bread, etc. But best of all you guys, there is a Milk Bar right outside and currently you can get one of the best ice cream varieties they have ever served: a chocolate chip passionfruit soft serve. Btw everyone puts the fancy ssam and jd sauce on on the fuku bites but I recommend dipping them in ketchup and just pretending you are having the sickest elementary school lunch ever.

Surprise! fuku+, the new outpost of the original fuku in East Village has made its way into the Midtown Lunch scene! All rejoice! Located behind milk bar and ma peche on 56, this tiny itty bitty space used to be ma peche’s bar area. It’s now a kind-of sit-down mostly stand-up type of seating area for fuku+. Space is tight and the wait is about 30 – 45 min when the line ISN’T out the front door — beware. The standing up and being squished in between patrons isn’t the best eating environment by far, but it’s doable. Nowhere to hang your purse either, so it goes on the floor. The menu is very limited here and is not quite friendly towards vegetarians. I ordered a mini me spicy fried chicken sandwich and shared a Szechuan pork flatbread. The chicken sandwich is dark meat, fried, spicy, wedged in between two buns that were actually quite tasty for just being regular buns. Somewhat comparable to a Chickfila sandwich, but not really. I wouldn’t say the chicken was juicy, but it was tender since it was dark meat. Spice level was good. The ssam sauce was the bomb — coworkers loved it. The Szechuan pork flatbread was where fuku+ lost points with me. The flatbread was cold, the entire thing hardly even lukewarm. The spicy pork was mediocre and it was so incredibly greasy that the grease soaked through the flatbread and made the whole thing a soggy, oily, mess. Definitely pass on this if you think about getting it. The chicken fingers looked like a better option, thought that might be a bit of a chicken overload. Yes to the sandwich, no to the flatbread. Was it worth the wait? Maybe, just to try it at least once and say you’ve had it. Would I come back if the wait continues to be like this? Probably not. PS: they’ve introduced the confetti cookie into the milk bar location here and it’s amazing. It tastes like the cake truffles, but in cookie form. So good!

Same awesome Fried Chicken Sandwich from the tiny original location, plus tons more great menu items in a slightly less tiny location above Ma Peche(and more importantly, adjacent to Momofuku Milk Bar). In addition to just the great fried chicken sandwich and the mediocre French Fries($ 3) from the original location(which were actually much better here than the ones I had downtown), there are a lot more great things to eat: — Fuku Bites with JD Sauce($ 6) These tiny little nuggets were a little spicy and very delicious. They were actually mostly breading, which I didn’t mind since the breading was so good. The spicy green JD Sauce is also a must for dipping. — Sichuan Pork Flatbread($ 15) This was awesome, super cheesy and porky and pretty spicy like most everything else here. — Salt & Pepper Shrimp($ 12) I didn’t try this since I have a shellfish allergy, but it looked good enough that I was once again really annoyed at my shellfish allergy. In addition to these items, which are available on the Walk-in menu, there are some more things on the«Fuku XL» and«Fuku XXL» menus that you can only try with a reservation. We had a reservation for Fuku XL, which is $ 25 per person and consists of the following: — Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich — Fuku+ Salad — Daikon Slaw — French Fries — Biscuits — Milk Bar Confetti Cookies This gets you some daikon so you can make yourself a Koreano(the«off-menu» item from the original location) as well as some decent biscuits. The Fuku+ Salad is pretty plain, and is honestly just a distraction when you have all that other incredible stuff on the table. They bring out everything at once and serve it family style, so if they brought out the salad first as an appetizer or something, I might have eaten it, but there was too much other great food going on to bother. The rest of the stuff is available on the walk-in menu, but a reservation is the smart way to go not only so you don’t have to wait on the line, which seemed to be about a 30 – 45 minute wait on our way out at around 8, but also because it’s the only way to get a table right now, vs. the standing room only that is available for walk-in guests. If you can get 4 – 8 people together, the XXL looks awesome because you also get some Slow Roasted Pork Butt, Fried Short Ribs, Sichuan Pork Bread Balls, Salt & Pepper Shrimp, and all of the stuff from XL menu. But that one goes for a flat fee of $ 400. No matter which way you come though, here’s the best tip: ask for the currently off-menu Juicy Lucy. This is that burger that’s filled with cheese that oozes out once you bite into it, and is as awesome as it sounds. You get to finish the meal with a Confetti Cookie with the reservation options, but it’s also a good idea to go get some soft serve from the Milk Bar location that is right there on your way out of the building too. I’ll definitely be back soon, especially if those chicken tenders show up like we know they eventually will.
