I bought a salad, mango cup and drink for $ 17.00. I don’t mind paying for good food but my mango cup had a dead beetle in it which I only discovered half way through. I brought it back to show them. The manager wouldn’t even talk to me, he offed me on a worker who didn’t care. I told him after I found the bug I wasn’t going to eat my salad. I would like a refund for my lunch. He argued with me saying he can’t refund anything other then the mango salad. That’s such poor service. Very disappointed with the customer service and cleanliness of this establishment.

Why do they call it free? I paid nearly $ 9 for a veggie juice. It was very tasty — kale, spinach, lemon, ginger, cucumber. Refreshing and delicious! Stopped in just before 8 and was a little disconcerting to see a bunch of dirty, flattened boxes in the main dining area as a gentleman stocked the cooler in back. Didn’t look very nice.

I’ve been there in the morning when produce is delivered. I’ve seen them take conventionally grown berries and put them into cups marked organic. Their service and counter people are rude also. Does it make sense to have a customer who’s only order a smoothie go stand in back of another line and wait an additional 10 minutes. How about just take their money, let the customer get out the door and keep the crowded store and lines as short as possible. Wouldn’t that be a better idea than the confusing cluster F**k it is?

Terrible service; rude management. I used to be a devoted customer of this shop(corporate user — frequency 1 – 4 times a week), until today I called to ask about the missing spread in my wrap, and the person on the phone insisted that«I watched the person make your wrap — I trust my eyes — you can say there was no spread but I watched the person putting it in your wrap»… I don’t know how I can make it up that the wrap is missing the spread. I eat it every single week and am very familiar with the way it comes. I feel like the person just refused to acknowledge any mistakes. Note that I didn’t ask for a replacement — if I order 20 of the same wrap and 1 is missing the spread, I can understand — mistake happens — but the rude dismissal was completely unnecessary. How hard is it to make sure your customer gets what she/he pays for and in the event of a small mistake, just make up for it? I concur with the some of the fellow reviewers that the management team mistreats its customers. There are many people in this thread who give detailed examples about how their food was mishandled and were denied an apology or a make-up delivery. Btw, I’ve dealt with at least four delivery guys from the place and they’re all quite nice and polite people.

FreeFoods is one of my go-to options for a well rounded salad on a lunch delivery order to the office. I always opt for the Yakuza Salmon salad, which comes with a decently sized sesame-crusted salmon piece. Love the combination of the avocado, soy glazed shitake mushrooms, and edamame. Could personally do without the orange wedge most of the time. What makes this salad is miso dressing, which I apply generously over my salad. However, these salads are typically pricier and come out to ~$ 18 after delivery and tip. Would question ordering this salad at that price, unless it’s an expensable meal! Overall, solid healthy lunch option in mid-Manhattan.

The service is terrible but the tempeh buffalo wrap and green collar smoothie are amazing and keep me coming back.

Thieves and aholes. I have ordered from this place 1 – 3 times a week for many months and I will never do so again. Today I convinced my coworker to order with me and he ordered 1 lb of the Tuscan Farro and I ordered two ½ lb containers of different quinoa salads. Our delivery arrived with three ½ lb containers, so I called and asked them to bring the rest of the 1 lb salad. After two hours nothing had arrived and I called back and the person who answered the phone said the owner had packed it himself and he was sure that he packed the 1lb container. I told them that I could show them the 3 boxes and they said I should write an email to the owner because he didn’t believe me. You guys are real aholes and I hope you go out of business.

For 17 $ I expect more in a salad. Horribly disappointed by the size. The few bits I was able to take were pretty good, but not filling. They lost me as a customer. #stillhungry #whereisthesalad

I decided to give this place a shot at my salad 3 days in a row now and it’s a RIPOFF. Pictured is a poor excuse for a salad that costs $ 15.79!!! The bottom left, yes, that’s «egg» — or some yolk crumble?! Oh — the egg is $ 2.75 if you want more than 4 ingredients and they can’t even give you ½ an egg? We get it, it’s organic, but this is straight up highway robbery.

I ordered a custom made salad from here and was underwhelmed. You get four free toppings with the salad but I had trouble identifying where these toppings were. When I finally found them, they lasted me one bite and then I was sad to see the bottom of my bowl. It’s also expensive.

The food is good but the staff is horrible. I asked for extra salsa and they would not give it to me even if I paid for it. It does not make sense. They said it was already on the sandwich, I said I could not even taste it and they said they could not give me any even though it was right there. Also the salad bar is over priced $ 15 a pound. STAYAWAY!!!

This place is amazing! The quality gets it a 5 but knock half a star off for the price tag! What I love about this place is the freshness and variety of salad sides! If you’re a salad lover, this is the place to go. Seriously the custom made salad is amazing. My favorite combo has got to be arugula, shiitake mushroom, sliced avocado, cayenne almonds and mangoes with shrimp or tuna. It turns out to be 12.75 ish pretax. This is a lot, but considering that they count avocado as a side and not protein, the price is justified. They have the salad in a huge rectangular container. Doesn’t make too much sense, it’s way too big for the portion of food.(But it does make it easier to toss if you order delivery). They also have amazing freshly made juice! Best green juice ever — the 7 greens does not even taste like it’s all veggies. So amazing!

I LOVEFREEFOODS. Regrettably, the food does not cost zero dollars, as you may ascertain from the restaurant’s name. It is, in fact, quite pricey for lunch, but very, very worth it. So we order from here all the time. ALL. THE. TIME. I personally love the Free-Range Chicken Margarita Sandwich(Lemon roasted free range chicken breast with mozzarella cheese, fresh arugula, basil and sun dried tomato tapenade on grilled ciabatta.) with the bread always fresh and crispy, the arugula always fresh, the chicken well cooked and flavorful. I also love the Fajita Famosa Wrap(Naturally raised spice rubbed skirt steak with roasted peppers and onions, pico de gallo, white cheddar, avocado and jalapeño tomatillo salsa on a whole wheat wrap) which is perfectly spicy and very filling without making you want to die! The Yakuza Salmon Salad(Sesame Crusted Salmon with Avocado, Edamame with Lime Zest, Shaved Carrots, Orange Wedge, Soy Glazed Shiitake with Carrot Ginger Miso Dressing over Mixed Greens) and it’s DELISH. So fresh, so good, the salmon is perfectly charred. The soups are good, the rest of the sandwiches are good, the smoothies are awesome! I haven’t had one bad thing from here. Not one. The people are nice and friendly, readily make most substitutions, and prepare your order relatively fast. Definitely a solid spot to get lunch in Midtown without needing a nap or feeling mostly bad about yourself after consumption.

Don’t even deserve one star. I ordered Tuscan Farro with Sautéed shrimp for $ 15 thorough seamless. Order arrived in reasonable time. But what do I get for that princely sum — Farro, some spinach leaves and cherry tomatoes. Oh I ordered it with shrimp, almost forgot, I guess the kitchen did as well. That’s ok, mistakes happen. But the guy on the phone was clueless and totally unhelpful. Response after calling 2nd time — «I don’t know, no one in the kitchen and manager is not here». Come on at least give me the shrimps I paid for, or refund the money. This is as horrible as it gets.

First I want to give an honest review, then I want to tell a story. Review: Healthy, relatively tasty(for healthy food), overpriced lunches. Generally about $ 4 more dollars than I want to pay for a sandwich, but usually pretty good(but a little small). Story: So I walked in today and ordered a sandwich, but wanted a little more so I perused their chips. The were mostly bland looking kale chips(terrible) but there were also tortilla chips. What goes great with tortilla chips? Guacamole. I see that they have guacamole and ask for a side, but the guy tells me it is only for salads. I pushed, «I know you can do an open food item on your POS(point of sale), just charge me $ 3 or something and it will be fine.» His response: «sorry we are not Chipotle». I know because if this was Chipotle, they would fucking let me bathe in the guacamole, but not FreeFoods. I guess the«free» in FreeFoods does not stand for«free-thinking» or «free to make the customer happy». You think it ends there, but it doesn’t. I retired in defeat and waited for my sandwich. When it came I picked up from the sandwich station and low and behold they have sides of guac. sitting out with other orders! I look at the guy, point at this delicious guacamole side and say«ummm, I see a side of guacamole right here.» The next part can’t even be made up, «Sorry those are only for seamless web orders, we don’t do it in store.» At this point my state of dumbfoundedness has reached an all time high. I pushed further(because, you know, I had to for the good of mankind), «so if I went on seamless right now and ordered a side of guac you would give it to me, but as I am standing here in front of you can’t, this is what you’re honestly telling me». «Yes.» Will I ever go back to FreeFoods? «No.»

I decided to give FreeFoods another try. This time, I got the Create Your own Organic Salad. The base price of $ 14.50 includes your choice of greens, one protein, four toppings, and dressing. Each additional protein is $ 5 and topping is $ 2.50. The food tasted good, but again very overpriced. I got the arugula salad with Honey & Lime Glazed Free-Range Chicken Breast(protein) and Quinoa with Fresh Parlsey, Roasted Portobello & Squash, Soy Glazed Shiitake Mushrooms, and Spiced Mango as my toppings. Additionally, I added the Olive Oil Poached Salmon and Citrus Marinated Hearts of Palm for $ 5 and $ 2.50 extra, respectively. The chicken was very tender and juicy, while the salmon had the right amount of fat without being too fatty. I wouldn’t get the quinoa again because it was rather dry. Loved the soy glazed shiitake and the roasted portobello. The mango slices with chili spices weren’t very good. For $ 22, I wouldn’t get this salad out of my own pocket.

This was the most expensive and most underwhelming salad I have had in New York City. This place champions itself on being an organic and fresh salad place but really it’s just overpriced salad that tastes very average. Never had their smoothies but they looked slightly better than the salads.

If working in Midtown is like making a daily trip to the dentist, then the organic-themed fare from FreeFoods is like manna for the worker bees that flee their desks and offices around noon to pay a visit and pay premium prices for healthy food at this well-subscribed joint. FreeFoods rests on the premise that the supply of healthy lunchtime nourishment significantly lags demand. Delis and plain salad bars are easy to come by, but if you are looking for gourmet wraps, salads and juices, then look no further than FreeFoods. I particularly like their mushroom quinoa soup and juices(consuming the potent Ginger Lemon Cayenne(GLC) shot is equal parts motivated by wanting to stay awake and stay cleansed). The supply chain at FreeFoods is a disaster though. As the crowds get thicker, you will see no less than three winding lines forming, some for the food stations and others for the cash register – make sure to know which one you are joining! As long as there is Midtown, and my work brings me to the neighborhood, I will be coming to FreeFoods. However, it remains to be seen if the business is sustainable over time, with the biggest concentration of their clients only coming at lunchtime.

The quality of food here is very, very good. but you don’t get lot for the hefty price tag. If you are vegetarian or vegan, the options are great and I highly recommend the build your own salad bar because it has a lot of very specific and delicious items(rare tuna, manchego, marcona almonds, edamame, fresh chilis, etc) not to mention the healthy and addicting dressings,. The buffet is pretty creative with soba salads and deconstructed raw lasagna and quinoa pizza… but if you don’t like peanut dressings(I don’t then it’s not that great). The soups are like none other in the area. So why only three stars — first off, the customer service is pretty bad. They don’t listen to what you are saying when ordering the salad unless you aren’t too friendly, they aren’t great at the register(i got turned away for having a $ 100 bill) and they often just serve whoever is in front rather than follow the line The food brings me back a few times a year, but it’s not an affordable lunch option. Side note: delivery service really is horrendous and can take over and hour(I’m up the block).
