The service was friendly and fast since it was just before rush hour. As a New Yorker I am used to spicy onion sauce but opted for the next best thing on the menu, which was caramelized onions. To my mind these go better on cheeseburgers. But the dog itself was fine, if pricey. You know you are going to pay more in Grand Central for everything. I would simply add the red spicy onion sauce to their menu to compete in a zone far from Payaya King and Gray’s papaya. If the dogs, service, and toppings are done right, it’s hard to go wrong.

It’s probably a good job I’m not someone who commutes in and out of New York through Grand Central. Because if I did, then I’d eat far too many of these hot dogs. They’ve got a good snap, texture and flavour — I’m certain there are far better hot dogs out there, but these meet the expectation and sometimes that is all that you’re looking for. Queue speed was fine on this occasion, though after reading previous reviews that may have been mainly because we only had one person in front and didn’t order anything complicated. But I’d been wanting to try a proper New York hotdog(and felt like I might be poisoned if I ordered something off a street vendor) so this was a great compromise which turned out exactly as I expected.

We hadn’t had a NY hot dog and thought we’d give Frankie’s a go — and we were glad we did! We just got a naked dog to share(I just wanted to taste hot dog, not toppings). The service was friendly and prompt, the hot dog was an appropriate temperature, and the bun was soft and tasty. The dog itself was juicy and tasty, if a bit on the small side. However, it totally hit the spot, and wasn’t so greasy that I felt a bit icky afterwards(like I often do with hot dogs!). I’m glad we stopped!

Let me start off by saying that I used to work at frankies for about 4 months the Co workers are rude some of them ghetto and just plain disrespectful their customer service skills needs to be improved most of the time they spend their time joking not even paying attention to customers management let’s the workers get away with a lot of things instead of firing and hiring new people the food it’s not great I’ve had better hot dogs from the street I even threw up by eating one of the hot dogs once the prices are too high even for grand central my opinion if you’re ever in grand central station go someplace else for food worst experience I’ve ever had

I’m not a huge fan of hot dogs, and I’m definitely not a fan of paying $ 30 for a couple of hot dogs and some bottled beverages. But New York really is a scary place when it comes to such things. I guess I can’t complain. it’s convenient, line wasn’t long at all compared to every other establishment in Grand Central. We got our order immediately. The guys that work there are pretty rude though, if you’ve got the time. it’s worth eating elsewhere. but if not. Frankie’s really will get you on the go in a timely manner.

Until about six months ago, this stand was a regular go-to for me, decent dog served hot with generous toppings by nice guys trying to get me to my train. It’s the memory of that hot dog stand that gets my second star. Of late, sadly, the service runs from indifferent to rude, not to mention glacial; the dogs are often under-cooked, and the toppings miserly. Their drink selection rarely matches their display. Go elsewhere.

Dogs: Average. Good snap, not particularly distinctive, and usually served on the cold side. Service: AWFUL. This is Grand Central Station. Super-Busy. Time-dependent commuters. The servers appear to be unaware of this, and have zero urgency. It takes four to five minutes to get a hot dog from this stand. UNACCEPTABLE Personal opinion: go elsewhere in GCT. Cheaper, better, and in/out in under a minute.

Great for a quick bite to eat. Friendly staff. Usually very personable. If you’re a Hot Dog fan, they put so many twists on the classic hot dog. My go to is the Frankie’s Bad Dog: BBQ Sauce, Bacon Bits & Shredded Cheese. Good prices for location and the specialty/novalty.

I’ve only ever ordered the Chicago dog here, and am always satisfied. Fresh(i think) ingredients and a nice potato bun. Solid. I think it’s a bit on the pricey end, but that’s just the NYC /Grand Central premium.

First let me say, when this place first opened, it was a delight — good service, etc. Now, the employees are mostly rude, joke around and don’t pay attention and sorry to say, dress like bums. I love to get a hot dog before I get on my train and last night was the last straw. Not only were the three on duty joking and not paying attention to customers rushing to get their trains, i had to tell them my order 3x and when he finally got it, he plopped it on the counter without a box or napkins like they used to. LIsten, I’m no prima donna. I eat hot dogs for christ sake and am a true native new yorker. I eat hot dogs from the vendors on the street, too. But these hot dogs are like 5 bucks a pop and i expect a little better customer service. Even though they have gloves on, the kid who served me kept pulling his sagging pants up and fidgeted with his nuts after he did it before he got my dog. I was like, «No way man, not with that hand.» I’m disgusted with this place now.

Totally agree with Michelle G.‘s review. If you want a quick bite of a real NY hot dog and you’re in Grand Central, this is a really great choice. Being in NYC, I didn’t opt for the Chicago-style and got the classic sauerkraut, onions, and hot mustard. Worth a stop if you are in GCS and craving this American classic. Open till midnight, I think!

Decent toppings but the dogs are cooked on rollers. They just were plain, no crunch, not crisp. Seems geared towards tourist. Expensive and average at best. Like they say in Texas, El Paso.

If you want a quick and tasty hot dog while traveling through Grand Central Station, then this is the spot. I was craving hot dogs and luckily Frankies was there to save the day. They had so many different types of hot dogs with so many different toppings that I was torn between several. I ended up getting The New Yorker, fitting since we were in New York. The hot dog came with Sauerkraut, onions, and hot mustard. It was simple and satisfying. The combo came with chips and a drink all for about $ 7. The best part is that when I was done eating, I wasn’t super full so I could grab a quick dessert at Magnolia Bakery. The portion was perfect! Good job Frankies. Hot diggity dog! ha ha!

Way overpriced $ 7 for 2, hot dogs were undercooked and the lady serving them was a real bitch.

Frankie’s is awesome because it’s one of the few options available in the dining concourse late into the evening. Their menu says 11pm but I was told that they are open until midnight. This was on a Sunday, so those might be weekend hours. The food is solid as well. The hot dogs are fantastic, whether you have them naked or loaded with toppings. I’d give them four stars, but the bacon option is bacon bits(kind of disappointing) and the shredded cheese they put on the dogs is freezing cold, bringing down the temperature of the entire dish. I understand it has to be refrigerated, but nothing is worse than biting into any sort of bread + meat + toppings combo and getting a mouthful of different temperatures. Also, a tad bit pricey for dogs that aren’t Crif Dogs or Soul Dogs but it’s Grand Central, what was I expecting?

The variety is ridiculous! Found it on a fluke, but so glad I did. They have every kind of topping you could possibly want. Delicious and juicy can’t begin to describe it. You definitely can’t eat just one.

New spot for dawgs in GCT. The dogs themselves are good. Not great, good. Do yourself a favor, don’t just get a naked dog, it may be a disappointment. On the other hand the toppings is where this place shines. I tried two dogs and both were very good. The Frankie’s Hot is covered in hot sauce and bacon. It’s more like bacon bits, but it’s still really good. It’s not too hot though, so don’t be afraid. The Italian dog is also really good. It has diced fresh tomatoes and mozzarella. The tomatoes went really well with the dog and all in all it was quite good. They have a pretty solid menu and also do egg creams which I may have to grab next time.

Frankie’s dogs is a new culinary kiosk in GCT. Yes, these franks are culinary. Frankie’s operates out of a beautiful kiosk in the lower level of the terminal. Their dog selection runs the gamut from a classic new yorker, to a vegetarian hack at the classic weiner. Bratwurst on demand as well. Anybody can find a dog here to satisfy any palate. The staff are kind and work quick. There is a good selection of beverages, including an old new york classic: the egg cream. I say hit them up for a quick nosh to hold you down until you get home, or buy 2 dogs to fill your belly. Prices are decent for the location.
