Focus On Third

Read Ben’s review. The same thing happened to me. They SCAMMED me out of $ 150; they looked up my insurance and said they were in-​network. They detailed my insurance plan, showing me how much my insurance would cover. When it came time to pay, I was told I had to pay up-​front and file the claim myself. 3 months later, I find out from my insurance co. that the store has to file the claim and (surprise surprise!), the dr. is out-​of-​network. The dr. claims he’s so busy he can’t talk to me until next week. This place is going down!

I was refunded the $, but not after the dr. tried to tell me they had already taken the insurance out of the amount I paid. Um I was definitely not told this at the time! He called me back and said he had made a mistake and would refund me the $, but still super shady!

I live near by and have been here a few times. My latest will be my last. As Priya noticed, the place is very off. After a moment or two it hits: *sniff sniff* dead rat smell. Gross. Maybe it’s becuase they’re next to the cheese shop, right? It’s gross anyway you slice it.
Anyhow, the salesgirl is really nice, but unfortunately the owner is inept and kind of an asshole. He REFUSES to file ANY INSURANCE. You have to file it all yourself. When my insurance gave me crap and asked him to, he played dumb, asking «What’s in-​network mean?». How can you not know how insurance works??? After a while, he wised up and told me to leave and he would get the forms from the office, wait, oh my, they’re RIGHT HERE! He’s a jerk. Finally I got him to submit it by not leaving and he filled out the paperwork incorrectly.
Sorry for the rant, but this place is so unprofessional it’s astounding. Go elsewhere.
This place isn’t in the healthcare industry, it’s a storeroom for demo frames to get dusty. Not a bad spot to look at frame, but buy them somewhere else or be happy paying full price without insurance.

As a student living in the city on a budget you have to know where to shop to get good value for your money. I don’t buy glasses everyday and it can definitely be a fashion statement so I wanted the perfect pair for a reasonable price. This place had a great selection and great service. I got a really nice pair of designer frames. I highly recommend this place and will be going back in the spring for sunglasses.

First of all, the service is impeccable. The salesgirl picked out a few frames that she thought would fit my face after I told her what I was looking for. She wasn’t too pushy, and gave me space. I ended up with this sick pair of Versace glasses (they were featured in a Versace ad, worn by Jonathan Rhys Meyers)! I love this place — will definitely be coming back again. I saw a bunch of unique styles that no other generic place carried (kill yourself LensCrafters)!

I love Focus on Third! The optometrist was excellent and the salesgirl– Simone helped me pick out the most gorgeous one of a kind european frames. Everyone was patient and nice. My experience at Focus on Third has convinced me to dump my old optometrist!
