I must say that this is one of the most delightful restaurants I have been to. The staff is extremely amicable and approachable. staff is well mannered and adequate. The food is excellent. Lomo salteado, chicken, fried shrimp and the nut cracker, fish ceviche yummmmmmm… the best I have enjoyed!!!

Flor de Mayo … or Mayflower, is a pretty solid 7.25÷10. I’m not very familiar with the convergence of Chinese & Peruvian food. But after a little research,(a quick search on the internet), it turns out there’s been a Chinese community in Latin America for quite some time. So I guess it’s no wonder the food culture is interspersed. The restaurant was super busy and crowded on a Friday at about 10pm. There was barely any room to stand while we waited for a table. Luckily, we only had to wait a few minutes. There is a cute little bar by the dar that seats about half a dozen people in a pinch. Food was good. The atmosphere was… indescribable. You have to be there to know what I’m talking about. It is definitely loud. I could clearly hear some colorful and entertaining conversations. Nutcracker($ 11) — very sweet cocktail. To my indiscernible tongue, it tastes like an AMF with grenadine. The other drinks looked pretty festive too. Lomo Saltado($ 15) — sliced steak sauteed with potatoes, tomato, & onion over rice: The steak was a little tough. I could taste a hint of soy sauce in the soy sauce. I liked the sauteed potato strips. They were thinly sliced and just cooked through and covered in whatever sauce the steak was cooked in. Definitely not crunchy though. The yellow rice is okay, but I couldn’t detect much flavor out of the rice. Is it supposed to be saffron rice? Pollo a la Brasa($ 12.25) — Half Chicken with Fried Rice: This is quite a large plate. Some pieces of chicken were dry. The legs were cooked perfectly. Even though I ate them last, they were still juicy. I didn’t care for the small ramekin of sauce. The fried rice was not bad. I don’t know what the pile of iceberg lettuce was for. It seemed like a waste of space. Otherwise, the food was pretty decent. I’d give it about a 3.5.

We(bf and I) have been here twice. The first time we had lomo saltado since we read so many reviews about it and it was just as good as people described it ! Such a combination of flavors! My favorite is the fried rice. The first time we also got the half chicken, it was moist but needed more flavor in my opinion. Drinks are fun but very sugary. The second time we came we brought a friend. He is not a big fan of onions so was hesitant to get the lomo Saltado, as we suggested. The staff was very accommodating and brought his plate without onions. Boyfriend got chop suey and the meat was hard– I guess just stick to what they are known for. Service was fast too. Definitely coming back soon

I love Peruvian style chicken and I love quality fried rice, so finding this place on Unilocal was my biggest win last week. I don’t know whose idea it was fuse these two cuisines together but God bless you. The food is flavorful, delivery is extremely fast and what tops it off is its pretty inexpensive. This place is now a new favorite.

My review may not be the most helpful for the more adventurous diners, but hear me out: consistency is key! I’ve been craving/demolishing the roasted chicken on and off for the better part of eight years. I will always come back for a whole bird, rice and beans. I’ve tried other Peruvian spots and nothing compares.

Flor is quite the unique spot; if you’re in the mood for Chinese, Spanish… or Peruvian(seriously) they have you covered. I’d actually never heard of this place before we went, but apparently it’s known to everyone but yours truly(I do love a good surprise). There was a bit of a wait to get a seat around 7 last Sunday night, so that tells you something about how solid this place is; we stuck it out… because Chinese-Peruvian sounded temptingly weird. Now I’ve had Tex-Mex that was made Chinese style, and while it was some of the best deep fried goodness I can remember there was nothing(read: 0%) authentically Chinese about it(save the guys cooking it, and I’m pretty sure that doesn’t count). This place is different; their claim as a multicultural cuisine-erie is about as valid as it gets considering what they are throwing down. I saw plates of mofongo, half and whole rotisserie chicken, and lo mein being served all at the same time. All that goodness made me hungry, so I quickly ordered up a Tsing Tao(personal nostalgic favorite of mine) and got down to work perusing the menu. Our table of three went with two orders of mofongo, a side of garlic broccoli, and an order of sweet and sour fried chicken. Our drinks came sometime later(the zombie was pretty well made, but at 11 $ I expect just a bit more… I’m not ready to say the drinks here are subpar, but my first experience was nothing phenomenal), followed by just the broccoli… which was fantastic. Now if only the rest of the dishes were prepped as good as this broccoli was, man I’d be here all the time. But they weren’t. the mofongo was dry, and the chicken was just OK. I guess when you try to make all these different types of foods you become the best at none(I think I read that on a fortune cookie or something). I definitely want to come back to try something else, as the menu is so expansive, and some of the stuff we tried really was amazing(I’ve never raved about veggies in my life, that really does tell you something about how good our appetizer was). All in all this is a solid spot; a bit on the pricey side for the quality in my opinion, but absolutely worth checking out… even if only for a plate of the broccoli.

After a surprise visit from a relative, we decided to go eat out at a new restaurant. We arrived here to find it packed with a few parties waiting, which is always a good sign. We were seated within 10 minutes and began to pour over the unique menu. This is an asian/peruvian restaurant leaning more toward asian cuisine(many more options). Since this was an interesting mix, I opted for mofongo with chicken. My boyfriend grabbed his usual order of sweet and sour chicken. We also had some rice and beans with a side order of broccoli with garlic. All three were very good. You could tell that it had asian influence since all of the sauces had the slightly thicker consistency that you find with flour or cornstarch being used. It helped stick to the food, giving it more flavor than with sauces that might drip off quickly. The chicken and mofongo was exactly as expected. The chicken seemed to be flash fried and had a deep color with crunchy exterior while the inside was still juicy. The sauce helped add the right amount of moisture to the mofongo. I was pretty stuffed after eating. The sweet and sour chicken was slightly different than what we are use to. It seemed like there were spices in the outer batter and it was not as thick as usual. I found that very enjoyable and it felt like it was less fatty because of it. The broccoli was nicely cooked with some crunch to it still. The garlic was thick cut and added a nice flavor to the veggies. They also offer some beer and cocktails. I had a zombie which is normally pretty good in asian restaurants but mine just tasted like grenadine so I don’t suggest splurging on them. Just order a beer instead. Other than that, I enjoyed my meal greatly and can see myself returning to try some other entrees.

Few places in New York can claim to serve Peruvian/Chinese cuisine, but Flor De Mayo can, and oh boy, is it good! Easily one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. I ordered the Peruvian Chicken with authentic fried rice on the side. The chicken melted in my mouth and the fried rice was the perfect combination of vegetables and meat. To put it simply, this place could take hunger, and smash it into oblivion. You know when food is so good that you eat way too fast and get digestive hick ups? This place is that place! Décor is simple but stylish, service is outstanding and you won’t be left waiting for anything. My beer was ¾ empty and a fresh one magically appeared to replace it. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. If you find yourself in NYC and looking for a place to eat, do yourself a favor and curb your hunger with quite possibly one of the best restaurants in NYC.

Favorite dish is Lomo Saltado, and it’s perfect I NEVER get anything else but i have had friends consume other dishes and they weren’t disappointed. Drinks are pretty good, if you’re looking for a drink to get your night started definitely get the nutcracker!

The half chicken was really moist tonight and the fried rice was well prepared. The bistec de pallomia wasn’t bad either. Good meal for the price. Nothing was really greasy or salty. Tonight everything was seasoned right. Only thing was my dish was done by the time my friend’s arrived. I guess at least I know why the chicken was still moist.

You can’t come here and not try the originators of the Nutcracker, am eating ½ a chicken with fried rice and shrimp with ham, it’s located in 101 and Broadway so you don’t need to drive

This place is fine, but nothing really stands out. Got their lunch special chicken and fried rice, which was good. Regular menu is a little pricey. Service wasn’t very friendly.

On a Sunday it’s not as busy as you’d assume. Parking available right out front. I walked in and there were a few people waiting to be seated. I checked in, went to the restroom. I entered right after this lady came out. Not a good idea… it smelled. I assumed she must’ve just finished eating. So I washed my hands went back to the front and the Host told me my table is ready. I went to sit down and they sat me next to the person that made the restroom smelly. Any way I paid her no mind and watched 20⁄20 as I waited for my food. The food came out within 10 minutes. My chicken taste very good, it was well seasoned and the trick is to squeeze the lemon on the chicken. Shout outs to my Dominican people who introduced me to this meal! I order this every time I come here. The beans are fresh and the plantains were made when I placed my order. The movie theater is a few streets away in case you want to see a movie prior to eating. Love it uptown

Since moving out of the neighborhood, I haven’t had the time to come back. But it’s good to be back for their best pork chops, squid fried rice and seafood soup. The place is still the same, long wait and services is always great. Always great to come back, and grab some take out a as well.

First off, the Amsterdam location is CLOSED, due to the fact that people were still writing on their Unilocal page saying they had just been there a few days ago I thought it was open. Well it’s closed, I picked this location to meet my friend and when I got off the train she called to say stay put because that location was no more. I called the number they have up on Unilocal for that location and it was answered by this location. Thankfully the broadway location is not that far and it was a nice night so we walked. When we arrived there were people waiting outside. It was smaller than I thought it would be and there is no lobby or real waiting area. You walk inside and you are completely inside. We gave my name and went back outside to wait with the rest of the parties. This is where my friend saw that they received a B and she couldn’t believe I had brought her to an establishment that did not have an A rating. The wait was twenty minutes as the lady said and the time went by quickly. Sitting down at a table that was half booth half chair I felt like I was dining in a regular Chinese restaurant, but with a glass of water given to me and a waiter I didn’t know exactly what to order so I ended up getting the half Peruvian chicken with a side of shrimp fried rice and plantains. My friend ordered chicken lo mein. I also ordered a nut cracker while she ordered a margarita. The chicken was interesting looking at first I felt it needed to be cooked longer, but later decided that was just the texture of the chicken and how it was made, the shrimp with fried rice was basic nothing special it did have a different taste than I was used to. My friend enjoyed her lo mein and we both enjoyed the plantains. At the time I felt the food was nothing too special, but when I took the chicken and plantains home and had it the next day for lunch, idk if it was hunger, but everything tasted delicious. Now finally that nutcracker was strong, I mean STRONG. I wasn’t amazed by my visit, but something about that place intrigued me and I told my friend just the other day that we have to go back again to try the sangria. Hopefully they will have an A by then.

Am I the only one that didn’t know about this restaurant? A friend took me there Friday evening — OMG I love this place! The only downside is that it isn’t that big and it fills up fast so go early if you don’t want to wait in line. I had the roasted chicken with shrimp fried rice and salad — it was absolutely delicious! I’ve read a couple of reviews that said you get large portions — I can’t say that my portion was«large» but I left there full and with a doggy bag. I also heard their drinks are good too — I have to try it the next time I’m there. There are waiters and busboys everywhere so you don’t have to flag someone down to get a refill of water or whatever else you may need and the price is right. I can’t wait to go back again and try something different!

Long overdue review! Flor de Mayo! O you’re so yummy!!! Squid ink fried rice is a must! Roast chicken, AMAZING… Pretty much anything and everything off that menu is to die for. The service is excellent, friendly staff, food comes out in big portions. It gets very busy and the wait is out the door sometimes, but it’s totally worth it. Take out is just as good too!!! I was able to bring back some yummy food to Philly due to the kindness of my great friend who knows how in love i am with their squid ink fried rice =)

Always amazing food. Very inexpensive yet great quality. We skipped the infamous nutcracker this visit but we had the half chicken lunch special with the special rice(rice with egg shrimp and pork) ! Yummy in my tummy. Service is okay. The servers will explain anything take your order and her you your food no special touches at all. Had no problem finding a park right in front(was on a Saturday afternoon). Great place will for sure return for good no hassle food !

While visiting New York, we decided to try Flor de Mayo based on the positive reviews. From beginning to end, we were not disappointed. Started with a strawberry daiquiri and a zombie. Perfect balance of alcohol with fresh ingredients(fresh whole strawberries in the daiquiri). My husband and I both ordered the half chicken(was the recommended item), he got plantains and I got fried rice. We ordered an avocado salad on the side. The chicken was perfectly seasoned rotisserie style, juicy and flavorful. The fried rice was really good, I got the vegetable fried rice but you can get any kind of meat added to it as well. We were a bit skeptical when the avocado salad came out,(it was just a whole sliced avocado) but it balanced perfectly with the rest of the meal. We had a great experience and a wonderful meal. Next time we are in NYC, we will be making another stop here.

Been going here since I was a kid many years ago. Solid offerings. I recommend the #10 Pepper Steak Special with fried rice, Chicharonnes sin Hueso, Ropa Vieja, Fried Wontons, and the Lomo Saltado with Green Rice. Always consistent. Chino-latino at its finest on the UWS. However, I’ll get my Peruvian chicken further uptown though, if we’re being totally honest. ;-)
