The Financier in Grand Central Station has the finest pastries I’ve ever tasted in my 62 years. And I’ve tried a lot. The Napoleon and Florentine are to die for. The short bread tort with berries is amazing. They ain’t cheap, but they couldn’t get such a fine product if they skimped… so they don’t. They also make a great cup of coffee and the people working there are fantastic.

Five star review for their giant ass macarons haha!!! i have this addiction to macarons because they are just sooo delightful and the point that they are French makes them even better. Honestly I wasn’t even expecting much from this place because I’ve never heard of it before and no one was here when I came. However their bigggg macarons are cheap, only$ 3 I think and it’s GOOOD I didn’t eat it right away, in fact I put it in the refrigerator for like two days, so I really thought it was going to be bad, but it was amazing! Perfect crust, not empty(huge thing to look for in macarons) and perfect filling. COMEHEREFORMACARONSRIGHTNOW!

I love macarons, I just do. They are my favorite cookie. I shared a chocolate carmel macaroon and it was very dry. Like it had been sitting in the case for a while.

Pros: great pastry selection, coffee accompanied with a piece of small cookie. Cons: absolutely nowhere to sit inside. Didn’t order any coffee, so cannot speak of that; but I liked my green tea(perfect temperature, as lots of place the temperature of water was super high). Wish they could expand a bit…

I have only had one item from here but their scrumpdelicious black & white cake gets 5 stars. I picked it up on my lunch hour in a pinch for my boss’s birthday. I had no idea this place existed but after googling bakeries in the west midtown area I ran over and snatched it up. Keep your eyes open b/c it’s tucked away in a breezeway but once you step in it looks and feels very European and everything looks so amazing. Even the packaging is gorgeous. I will definitely be going back again because the cake got rave reviews from everyone in the office and it was all gone within minutes.

I’ve been to other Financiers and they are much much better!!! These guys try, but not hard at all. Out of maybe 10 small soy lattes I have ordered, about three were decent, the rest were either too burnt, too bitter, not small and a couple were not soy. Pastries: they are good. I, however, made a mistake(twice) of taking several to go. I’m guessing that it was in a noble effort to preserve the environment they were jammed in one box. It’s a good thing, those pastries were bought for consumption by folks that care about taste and not the appearance, as they have totally lost the appeal from being all squashed together. I thought about getting lunch there as I used enjoy Financier quiches very much, but thought it might be another fiasco and desired against it. I’m glad Zibetto just opened up in my building — I hear they have good coffee.

Don’t ask for 2% milk! They mix Half and Half with fat free milk. Gross! That’s not 2%!! Just say you don’t have it.

Small hot chocolate with whip cream, medium latte, and 3 macaroons. Hot chocolate didn’t come with whip cream(they forgot), latte was about 50% foam and no where near filled to the top, macaroons were delicious. If going for a macaroon I’d definitely try the raspberry!

The selection of pastry’s is excellent. They are significantly better than what is available at Starbucks. A thumbs up to the macarons. The selection of coffee and chai is also reasonable. The prices are comparable to Starbucks, so definitely worth giving it a try.

Very cool little snack shop. Sandwiches to pastry and drinks. Out door seating with roof over alley between 2 streets. Prices are average. Theaters right down the block. Great before or after a show

I have bought many cakes here for friends’ birthdays and they all taste scrumptious. I LOVE their black & white cake. It might be a little hard to find this place as it is in a passageway going through 48th to 47th street. The cakes all look so beautiful and there are also these little sampler cakes that are SOCUTE. They also have big macarons! The staff here are also very pleasant. I sometimes order cakes very last minute for pick up, but they never gave me a problem. However, if you want the cake to be personalized with someone’s name, you will have to give them 24hr advanced notice. There is also an outdoor seating area if you would like to sit there and enjoy your coffee and a pastry before running off to work.

Excellent Mille Feuille, Napoleon, Éclairs, macaroons, crême de cassis cakes and the most delicious pecan pie during the holidays. They have few locations though this was the nearest to my job, my favorite was the east 52 street because of the inventory while the least is the east 58 street.

It’s absolutely terrible that I found Financier by my work. I am now addicted to their large banana caramel macaroon. I need to remind myself not to go when they’re freshly stocked in the morning because I immediately want to buy their cakes — Apple Honey??? Other beautiful cakes whose names I can’t remember right now? I can’t… They also have this mini cake — chocolate, pear, and walnut. It made me almost cry when I saw it. It was so good. The staff is also very nice.(Really, they’re nice. I worked retail and I was refreshed by such genuinely pleasant moods that they exuded). I just wish this place has a frequent buyer system. Buy x macaroons and receive a free macaroon. Spend x dollars and get x credit.

Bought the boxed set of 7 macaroons. Tried two of them and they were light crispy good consistency but overall bland. I didn’t taste the sweetness that a macaroon normally has to the point where I could only recognize one flavor(strawberry) no idea what the other flavors were :/. Next time I’m in GC I’ll try one of their cakes. Macaroons were really disappointing.

The macaron was very good and only $ 3 for a large macaron. Better than $ 2 for a tiny one. One macaron is a good light breakfast. The coffee was OK. I got a cappuccino and it tasted a little watery and flavorless to me. I also enjoy black espresso so it could just be my taste in coffee. The stronger the better! I really enjoyed their outdoor seating area. It was a cool day yesterday and perfect for drinking coffee outdoors. Overall, it is a good price for midtown NYC and I would go back again.

We arrived in Times Square too early for our Broadway show. Financier’s bright lights were a beacon in the night, leading the way to sugar & caffeine. My Americano with hefty splashes of half & half was smooth & had no bitter aftertaste. It tasted even better with the complimentary mini financier(moist almond cake) the cashier threw in my bag. Unfortunately my two sizable macarons, one raspberry, one pistachio, were representative of the mass produced, un-fresh product reputable bakeries would never allow on their shelves. The shell was hard, not chewy & the amount of sugar used was excessive, as if to mask the pastry’s poor quality. Macarons are supposed to be sweet, but they’re also supposed to have complex, distinct flavorings. Seating outside was a lovely place to while away our spare half hour. We were properly stimulated for the rest of the night, but would probably get our sugar fix from a better source next time.

Financier Patisserie has always been the more-accessible(less pricy) alternative to Bouchon Bakery. Decent albeit not superb quality pastries, and always, in my experience, good black coffee. I stopped by a few weeks ago to pick up a few pastries on my way to a friend’s apartment, I noticed prices had increased. Nothing insurmountable by New York standards, but certainly no longer a better price than Bouchon. This really means that I am now more okay with a Bouchon splurge. Especially when it comes to maracons, the quality at Bouchon’s far surpasses the ones here. Where Financier does excel is in their single-serving baked goods. The opera cake is particularly delicious, the larger versions appropriate for a birthday celebration. It’s a rectangular, flat cake, 9 inches across, and easily feeds 8 – 10. Someone described it as the best parts of a tiramisu, with a thin layer of almond jocund, chocolate, and a coffee flavored cream. I still love that they provide teensy, individually packaged financiers to go with your coffee. And, since I’m a particular sucker for linzer tarts, I will absolutely indulge in those once in a while.

Another misleading address by Financier, opting for those Avenue postal addresses with entrances on side streets. Once you find it, hope they have something good left, like the superb florentine(as you’re prepared for the sticky crunch). Transaction Amount $ 2.75 Credit Applied — $ 2.75

Used to be my neighborhood coffee shop and I went everyday for 1.5 years. Needless to say — I love the place. Reasons I like it so much are the coffee. It tastes good and under $ 2 for a small café au lait. You also get a little cookie with every purchase which is a nice way to start the day. The pastries always look great. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth so I didn’t buy them often but do love looking at them. There are these little pastries(choquette) that are available only on Thursdays and Fridays. They are small and light and u can get them in bulk. My coworkers liked them a lot. If you want to try them, you need to get there early because they run out. Good place for cakes. All the office birthday cakes used to come from there. My favorites are the cheese cake and berry tart. For specific cakes we had to either order them in advance or get them early in the morning. This location gets it’s delivery once a day and by noon the good pastries are mostly gone.

So I came here right before seeing«Chicago» and got this strawberry short cake. I wasn’t sure what the exact name was but it consisted of vanilla biscuit at the bottom and mousseline and fresh strawberries. The cream was already semi-solid — again, I’m not sure if that was supposed to be the case — and the biscuit didn’t come off with the rest of the cake =( Customer service wasn’t that great even though I was being friendly. I got a sense that the lady behind the counter was giving me an attitude as I was taking my time browsing. There wasn’t even a line as it was almost 8pm.
