Ask to deal with John, the owner, and you’ll have a good experience. He’s fourth generation in a very fine men’s fabric business — with quite a bit of unisex and some women’s, too. When John was not in the shop, I found the assistants to be very difficult to deal with; their use of English was extremely poor and they did not seem to know how to sell a piece of goods. I walked out, and was advised later in another fabric store, «Talk to John». Went back; John was there; it made all the difference in the world. I would shop there any time, as long as I saw John at the front desk.

Their ‘bespoke’ tailoring is not worth the money. I tried to have my wedding suit made there, but they screwed up the pants beyond repair. Now — less than two weeks before my wedding — I have to scramble to buy something off the rack. Not an easy feat, because my body does not fit standard sizes (the reason why I went for custom made in the first place). I spent about two whole days in there chasing pants that were made with an obviously wrong pattern. They gave me a refund for my first payment, but what good is that if I can’t get a replacement elsewhere? Also the cut they used on my jacket was very unflattering. Avoid at all cost — there are much better places out there for bespoke tailoring! The fabrics they sell are good, but that’s all they should be selling.

Worst customer service ever! Quoted one price when I was choosing fabric, tried to charge much more when I placed the order. Surly attitude. Delivery was 5 weeks past promised date. Each time I inquired about when the order would be ready, someone promised to call back and never did. When I finally picked up the cushions they reupholstered, I requested the managers name and the woman refused to give it to me, was defensive and rude.

Otherwise known as, Beckenstein’s Fabric, THE place to go for men’s fabric, or any suiting & shirting needs. Excellent quality. The only thing I found sketchy was when my brother bought fabric here, the clerk asked him to pay outside in cash.
