If I can give ZERO stars I would. This is blasphemy. As a Cuban American, I am well aware of Spanish cuisine and thus by far is the worst I have ever tasted. There is no effort behind the food itself. I will never come back here and spend my money at this place.

I realized I didn’t write a review and need to set the record straight here. Erica ’ s is found inside the Farmer’s Market on jamaica Ave. There’s always a line around the corner for the lunch specials here. Fried or baked Fish/Chicken with rice and beans for $ 5. $ 6 if you want a gigantic maduro(sweet plaintain). I will preface this by saying: I DONOTLIKE Dominican food but I LOVEERICA’S. The food is well seasoned and not with Sazon or salt. The Red snapper fish is fresh and crisp. Erica and her daughter are always polite and ready to serve. Empanadas are available as well as pork dishes. The lunch special is a quality meal. Worth every cent.

I work in the area, and Erica’s is my go to for good food at a really low price. If your expecting 5 star cuisine for $ 4, then don’t go to any place to eat out because it doesn’t exist. I’ve had the roasted chicken, roast pork, and beef stew and they were all very good. The food is well seasoned but not salty. The flavors don’t overpower you, but I tend to like my food with less salt. Not like many other places that have you drinking a gallon of water after the first bite. I wish there was more variety but when something is working and with such low prices, who am I to complain. And for those who want to be treated like royalty for $ 4, go somewhere else. Get your food and go. Do you want to eat or chit chat? The service isn’t rude, it’s quick, and the food is filling in a good way.

$ 4 specials are actually rather generous portions. Although the good leans towards the bland side it’s still clean and seemingly freshly prepared. I was tempted to drop a star due to the staff’s overall attitude but considering the cost and the neighborhood I guess I can cut ‘em some slack.

Ok so I give it two stars because the staff were nice and the pork dish was tasty. Done. The pork had no flavor. The rice was crunchy — it just needs to be cooked a little longer. Nothing fancy. Nothing to make me go back. The stewed pork dish w had flavor but nothing that stood out.

At first the owner was very humble and kind, then we she started gaining regulars, she became snooty. The food was never all that good, anyhow so it won’t be missed. Plus, they never have anything new, just the same, old food from yesterday’s lunch. Blah.

I ordered the only fish on the menu and I think I ordered the wrong item. everything else was chicken or pig and it looked a lot tastier. the fish was also most expensive at $ 7. it was filled to the lunch plate top but the fish was very fishy and didn’t have much flavor besides the fishy taste. with the $ 7 it included rice, beans and salad. I would give it another try in the future, nobody order the fish! if you want to save yourself money don’t order it!!!
