If you’re looking for fine dinning, this is the place. Exquisite food and their wine selection is superb. The manager Daniele Mazzella is a top sommelier from Italy and greets every one with such an welcoming smile.

Eolo is one a of a kind restaurant, a true italian cuisine that will bring back memories starting right from your mother kitchen, an authentic taste of south italy. The spaghetti with shrimp i had was just perfect, service fast And accurate, And The athmosphere And music was right in point

Food is alright. Patio is nice. Service is terrible. I am writing this review as I’ve finished eating 25 minutes ago. 5 minutes ago they finally took my plate and I’ve asked for the check. Still waiting. I’m 1 of 4 total people here.

don’t waste your time at the bar. bartender completely lied to us saying that happy hour drinks were $ 10 each until we left and say the sign outside said $ 8 each. he also had no clue how to make the drink and had to check the menu for the ingredients… if you’re trying to make an extra $ 1 or 2 maybe just improve your service.

I’ve decided that very few people on Unilocal actually know what good food is. Eolo’s food was so delicious that we actually ordered dessert, which never happens. Arancini was the appetizer(the eggplant and ragu were incredible tasting. The seafood ball was delicious too, but the other two were better). I had a special pasta dish with crab sauce that was absolutely… MWAHH. My boyfriend had the pork sausage pasta which I tasted and was oh, oh, oh so good. We had the donuts for dessert and they were yummy too. I can’t wait to try some more items on this menu. The portions were also really good, so I don’t know what people are complaining about. Everything was great. Highly recommended.

Best kept secret in Chelsea! Just amazingly delicious and satisfying food and wine and cozy environment. I’ve had nearly everything on the menu so far, never disappointed. They have a very knowledgable sommelier working there, always give me solid paring recommendations. The chard octopus, scallop crudo and bruschetta were my favorite appetizers. All of their pastas are in-house handmade so you can’t make a bad choice. If you see a pasta special, try that one. Always a nice surprise. Lamb and seafood are among my favorite things to eat at Eolo. Dessert — you can’t miss dessert. Sfinci — Sicilian Ricotta donuts are to die for. Also every once in a while they host special Sicilian/Italian food event, very unique experience.

On my stroll home after church, i stopped in to see if they had gluten free options. They do! I ate at the bar. Pasta was incredible and very large. Pasta was perfectly cooked and impressive as gluten free noodles can be tricky to get the timing right.(if slightly over cooked it turns to mush) They were very accommodating to being gluten free and it was well done … but they do charge a fee for the GF option. Wine was good. Great dinner.

Three stars for being able to accommodate our large group of 14 fairly well after a show, with a reservation of course. Eolo is a decent option if you’re trying to walk a bit after taking in a show before dinner. We headed down 7th and were seated promptly upon arrival. It was Restaurant Week and to their credit they had a nice selection of options for a three course meal. Our server didn’t have much personality, but the service was attentive. The food was not particularly memorable or inspired but was tasty all the same. I enjoyed the seared scallops over risotto as a starter. The scallops were fresh and the risotto was perfectly cooked. There was quite a lag — over 30 minutes — between our appetizers and the mains, but thankfully we were in no rush and had no problem enjoying our wine in the meantime. For my main course, I had a salmon filet with roasted potatoes with a mustard glaze. A simple dish but very flavorful and properly cooked. The main issue was how tightly the tables were packed into this place. I know it’s New York but jeez, we had the sides of a row of two-top tables right up against the backs of our chairs on one side of our long table. Luckily for us(though probably not for the establishment), the restaurant was only about 20% full by the end of our meal, and so it didn’t feel overly oppressive. No plans to return, but a satisfactory experience.

Great food! Love the scallop with risotto! The squid ink pasta with lobster was so delicious except the pasta was a little under cooked in my opinion. Over all experience was great, however the restaurant itself was a little cramped.

Been here a few times since I live in the neighborhood and my mom is from Sicilian. This place is awful. Food is bland and overpriced. Décor is painful and music is beyond distasteful.

I would like to start off by saying the servers were super sweet and welcoming. That being said everything else was bad/decent. We went for restaurant week. For an app I got the octopus which was good kinda bland but it was decent. My friends got the meatballs and mash potatoes for an app and it came out cold and with only one meatball… For the entrée I went with the chicken wrapped in prosciutto and mash potatoes, was amazing I have nothing but good things to say about that. For dessert I went with the tiramisu which was okay its wasn’t anything to really rave about. Also the playlist was a little odd for where we were; Arctic monkeys, Ellie Goulding, the neighborhood, Florence and the machine. Not that I had a problem with it, just didn’t really fit with the atmosphere. I wouldn’t go back for lunch but I might go back to try dinner.

Good food and service, great restaurant week menu choices. Hollow pasta with crispy sardines in red sauce was delicious… as was the saffron arancini. Ricotta cheesecake was good. Decent wine list. Overall, I would recommend this place if you’re in the neighborhood.

Stopped in for dinner for 4 on a Sunday night and had a fantastic dining experience. We were greeted right away. We had a reservation but it wasn’t full, so we were able to choose the corner table next to the window, farthest from the bar. Our server came by soon to greet us and we soon placed our drink and food orders. We all ordered off the restaurant week menu and we had a bottle of wine; I forget the exact one, I didn’t choose it and I’m not a wine expert but it was a nice dry red with hints of honey. Ended up being a great choice! Kudos for the number of items in the restaurant week menu, and the price. It’s $ 38 per, but you get a lot of choices and a good amount of food, and everything I had was delicious! I started with the octopus appetizer. Cooked to perfection, perfect texture and a nice charcoal-grilled flavor. Nice work, whoever came up with this one. For my entrée I had the Rigatoni Norma and I’m glad I did. The pasta was fresh and the sauce was smooth, tomato-y and creamy. I also tried some of everyone else’s dish and everything was great. Throughout my dining experience, the table was pre-bussed and we never had to ask for anything. Sad to say, that’s a rare thing to see in this city. Also, our food runner dropped our food off at the correct seat numbers. Rare to find in this city and tells me a lot about the place’s attention to detail. Nice job, guys. Dessert was the little fried pasties with cream(forget the name), coffee, and Maker’s neat. The coffee came out in the French press and they left the whole thing, and it was damn good. Quite a nice touch! Prompt, professional service, and a stellar menu. Will definitely be back!

Came here recently for dinner and felt it was so so. We started with the rice balls which were a bit dry for my liking. There were 3 per serving and they were normal size. We also ordered the beet salad and the lamb shank. The beet salad was pretty plain. It had a few pieces of unripe avocado, cheese and then radish. There was barely any dressing so it was almost flavorless. The lamb shank was the best part of the meal. It was soft, juicy and had yummy sauce. For dessert, the tiramisu was too rum heavy — almost like it was added at the end because the bottom was watery/running. Overall, I don’t think I would go back but I am still getting to know the neighborhood so it’s good to try new spots.

This place is a hidden gem in Chelsea. I have to say that service has improved a lot since I first came here in early 2015. I think they may have recently acquired a new manager, as I hadn’t seen him around until fall 2015& the staff definitely look a lot more chipper & are very attentive! That aside, on with the food! Eolo has some of the best pasta & seafood around. I had an amazing gnocchi in spicy tomato sauce once & it brought me back to my childhood Sicilian neighbors who babysat me for several years. The«nonna» in the house made amazing tomato sauce from scratch, which this gnocchi arrabiata reminded me of. I also recently went on a fungus binge & loved their tagliatelle ai funghi — not too heavy, al dente pasta, & had a lot of black truffle shavings! The husband also loved the fact that the manager himself came to personally filet his Bronzino table side! It was great! They also got some excellent grilled octopus! They somehow get it just right where it’s not too rubbery or too soft & with just the right amount of char where it’s not burnt but slight crunchy & smokey on the outside. This isn’t the cheapest place around but definitely a spot we like to go to about once a month. It’s a great dinner date spot, as it’s not noisy & the lights are slightly dimmed setting«the mood» just right. Will also have to try brunch sometime too.

Amazing meal transporting you from Chelsea to Sicily! My husband and I were treated beautifully at this restaurant. We started off with fried olives, I didn’t know this would be so yummy! Tangy from the olives, and warm and crisp from the fried, yum. Also go to try the eggplant salad with pine nuts: fantastic! We shared the fried rice balls stuffed with lobster, beef and veggies, absolutely delicious and the fresh beet salad with authentic burrata! Oh, the walk down yum field! As first courses, we tried the homemade twisted spaghettis with fried sardines. Never ate anything like it and I enjoyed the change of flavors and textures. In addition, we shared the(I am sorry, I can’t remember the name!) meat stuffed inside thick bacon with a tomato and potato stew! The flavors were exceptional, the portions extremely filling and the creativity top notch! Our desserts consisted of a cone cannelloni and Scinfi(which are fried ricotta balls). And yes, we ate all of it. The sweet ending to our fabulous feast put us to bed! We really enjoyed our dinning experience at Eolo, the place is beautiful, the food is a trip of flavors and creativity, the staff is very professional and if you are lucky to be around when Daniello is, he will be able to passionately tell you all about the food, the wines to accompany it with — and his sexy accent will take you directly to Sicily! See you soon, Eolo!

We loved dining here recently. The staff was on point with exceptional service, and Daniello, the manager, was around with every course to explain what we were eating and some of the dishes needed explainging, as they are very traditional Sicilian style meals. Not your typical Italian food you can find at any Italian restaurant. The pasta was obviously home made pasta(since these were noodles i had NEVER eaten nor seen before) mixed with delicious sardines, who would have thought of combining that? yummy. I usually hate olives and NEVER eat them. but one appetizer had fried olives that were incredible. The atmosphere is comfortable and charming and the food on par with dining somewhere across the Atlantic. Glad we found this place and will be back.

1) I am Italian 2) I import high-end Italian foods 3) I grew up eating like in a serious 5 star restaurant I was shocked to see bad reviews about this place. I ate there 4 times and everything was awesome. Perfect presentation, high quality ingredients, good service. I just move to this area and started to explore Italian restaurants. Been tasting for a year so far and my list of bad is long and the list of good only has 4 restaurants in it and Eolo is one of them. The chef is Italian, the manager and waiter is also. We need more authentic restaurants like this one to put Olive garden out of business.

Went here for restaurant week but ended up ordering from the regular menu. It was pretty good, I recommend the homemade sausage pasta. and the bruschetta was amazing! Good prices. it was 3 apps for 16 $ … Service was okay. I think they threw out our bottle of wine before we were done

I think it’s amazing that so many reviews for Eolo are negative. I’m confounded, actually. Eolo Is a neighborhood place for me, I’d rank it in the top tier of what’s on offer around here, here being from seventh avenue to ninth, from around 19th street up to 25th. There are some fine fine places to eat in this zone. I’ve been to Eolo probably half a dozen times. Always treated well but I suppose that’s because of my extreme stature and good looks, and most regular people won’t have that advantage… Wear a mask = instant respect. Seriously the food is superb, close to gourmet, with creative cookery. Interesting combinations, well sourced. Pastas to die for, meats, small plates, it’s all a delight for the tasting, surprising cookery too. For the price conscious, on Sundays bottles of wine are two for one. Good wines. That’s just crazy. Staff is fine. They’ll even talk to you if you engage them although clueless complaining is not a good way to make friends. Give respect, get respect. You should all be eating here for the fine dining in a bistro vibe. Those negative reviews are from bizarro world. Bottom line: GREATFOOD.

Slow service on Sunday lunch. Expensive for what were served. I usually don’t waste food but the main dishes were so bad I can’t finish. The appetizer meatball and rice all was good

Left full but unsated. Not going to insult the chef and write what I really think about the food but lets leave it at mediocre. Service was not that great, either; had to wait for our food for an hour on a not very busy Sunday evening. Consequently we stuffed ourselves with cold bread and olive oil, since we were starving. When it comes to our waitress, she was nice but brief. The Host was very gracious and apologetic, cannot complain on staff but will not be going back.

This place is literally around the corner of my house. I pass by it everyday and never eat here except for tonight. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed. This place tries to be pretentious and upscale with their menu and prices, but the execution missed the mark big time. They served us cold stale bread and the appetizer was gross too. They put a fancy name for the mozzarella sticks, but I’ve had better from TgI Fridays. They also charged my boyfriend a $ 1.00 for ice in his cocktail. I’ve never seen that in my life even at the fanciest of places… I have no problem paying $ 30.00 for a pasta, but you better wow me. We ordered the mushroom risotto and it was pure mush. The only good part of it was the egg and you can’t really mess that up. We also ordered the paroedelle ragu and it tasted like microwave pasta. Not a fan. My suggestion is too keep walking because you have so many other options

I went for Summer Restaurant Week 2014(another late review) I had the saffron risotto ball. I was disappointed because there was only one risotto ball. Also, I couldn’t taste the saffron at all, but did like the cheesiness of it and enjoyed the beef and pea ragu in the center. Entrée: Seared halibut with roasted potatoes, tomato, mushrooms, capers with olive oil and sauce. The halibut was cooked to perfection, with a bit of crispy skin that tasted so good. I also really enjoyed the potatoes, sauce and everything combined together nicely. Dessert: Warm flour-less chocolate cake with strawberries, pistachio cous cous and pistachio ice cream was well worth the $ 4 additional fee. The chocolate cake was truly delectable: Melt in your mouth, finger licking delicious. It was rich, velvety and tasted of pure chocolate. The pistachio cous cous was underneath the ice cream and tasted light, subtly sweet, luscious.

I’ve been here twice, once during restaurant week and once on a regular evening. I had a great experience both times. Staff is pleasant, and we were always seated without issue. Portion size of the entrees is enough to fill you up with just enough room for dessert, but it is on the pricier side so if you’re looking for a cheaper dinner you should probably go elsewhere. With that said, all the food my friends and I have had here has been absolutely delicious, and we would gladly return!

I’ve been here twice so far and had great food and service each time. It’s a bit on the pricier side with the food portions being on the smaller side but, in my opinion, that’s the beauty of their food. The quality and flavor profiles have been outstanding on everything from the apps to the pasta to dessert. During my last visit, here’s what I tried: Arancine di risu al ragù — The saffron risotto and beef & pea ragu kick these arancini up in flavor. They were the perfect consistency and crunchy on the outside. They only come two to an order but they are a good size for two people. Purpetti cu sugo — These beef and pork meatballs come 3 to a bowl and are not huge. They weren’t bad but I can be picky about meatballs. Tagliateddi cu cunnighiu — Cocoa tagliatelle with rabbit… delicious and savory… everything about this dish was perfect. Mine came with mushrooms which was not listed in the description but really complemented the dish(I suggest asking for them in yours). Sfinci — These ricotta donuts are stuffed with the most delicious orange-vanilla cream. They only come three to an order, so you may not want to share! Cannoli ‘Millefoglie’ — This was an incredibly fresh deconstructed cannoli. Definitely enough for two people to share and just the right amount of sweet. Our service was particularly great on this visit and they were more than willing to refill our bread basket several times. We also took advantage of their Sunday night special: 50% off bottles of wine over $ 50. Seriously, do that.

The prosciutto pizza was so delicious and they don’t skimp on the prosciutto! I am giving only 3 stars though because the service was a bit lacking and rushed when we went though. They have really great all day happy hour specials but only if you sit at the bar,

My boyfriend and friends took me her for my birthday. We were seated soon after I got there. Our waiter was attentive and nice, but seemed a bit new or unfamiliar with the menu. We ordered some small plates while we waited for everyone. Although they are definitely on the small side. They don’t call it small plates for nothing! But, the fried olives were SO good. Ricotta and honey on toast? Drool! My boyfriend and my friend had both called the restaurant to make sure there were vegetarian options for me, and they were both assured most dishes could be done vegetarian. I decided to start with ricotta stuffed zucchini, but I noticed it came with speck, and asked the server if it was possible to make that vegetarian. He immediately said no. But then as I skimmed the menu for a replacement, he said he would check with the kitchen. Now, I understand, some of the dishes are pre-prepared in morning for the day. But, he came back and assured me it could totally be done meat free. Yay! But I was a little confused when my friend got the same dish, although with meat, and it was under the zucchini… hence why I think he was a little unfamiliar with the menu. Either way, I got the eggplant parm for dinner… skin was a little on the crispy side for me, but that’s a matter of opinion. Dessert… Holy cannoli. Or actually… deconstructed. But amazing. My friend got the donuts, Wow. Don’t skip on the drinks either. Amazing. I do think we were charged for a couple of glasses of wine too many… but we didn’t really take a good look at the bill. Didn’t really think about it until after the fact. We were a bit annoyed though that there was a happy hour sign right outside, and when we were sitting at the bar waiting to be seated, we were informed there was no happy hour. If there’s no happy hour, take the sign down. It’s a little on the pricier side of things, in price to food ratio. But it was delicious. I would go back again.

The all day Happy Hour advertised outdoor signage initially lured me to patronize Bar Eolo. After work on a Thursday night at 8pm when most bars cut off Happy Hour, Bar Eolo continues the merriment. Of course one Rosé wine $ 6.00 was my choice which I immediately became tipsy and needed substance to choose the Rice balls $ 10.00, while my second had his standard choice of drink Tequila $ 5.00(if not his standard Vodka) — usually without food. The bar is comfortable with bar stools that has a back support where customer can hang jackets, coats and bags. There are no hooks under the table for women to put bags. Bar Eolo’s serves the typical Italian food: pasta, salads and fish – nothing extraordinary out of the ordinary. Staff are nearly difficult to flag when placing their food or drink order(s). Bar Eolo is just okay.
