So, this place by no means is a gourmet haven. You aren’t going to be receiving a delicious egg sandwich on amazing bread with a perfect blend of spices and bacon. No, you are going to get a delicious low cal and low fat egg sammy that fills you up and won’t make you fat. Done. I really enjoy the egg sandwich here. Five egg whites, turkey bacon and low fat cheese on a whole grain english muffin all for a little less than 300 calories and all for about $ 4. The bodega down where I used to work on Wall St. would charge like $ 6 for this monster of a sandwich. I have never really messed with anything but their breakfast sandwich so I can’t really tell you many details but, when I work out and I’m in this hood this is a great and low cal breakfast to keep me going through the day. I can’t really ask for more than that now can I?

I’m actually a bit surprised that this place has as good of an average as it does… I like the concept(500 calories or less), and I can definitely see its appeal to people(especially to New York’s mass of highly body conscious 30-somethings), but I just don’t think Energy Kitchen is all that special. I had a salad. I don’t remember the name but it had strawberries, feta, and chicken. Wasn’t terrible, wasn’t inedible. But limp, boring, bland. Is it possible for a salad to be processed? That’s how it seemed. This is coming from a person who has been known on occasion to eat an entire box of saltines for dinner. Eh, I’d rather spend my money and daily calorie intake on less bland food. Not necessarily a criticism. but I’d take the box of saltines over Energy Kitchen.

Had the Cali wrap for lunch today, it’s definitely is filling. The woman behind the counter was kind of rude, ignored me for a few minutes, even though I was standing 2 feet away from her, and then kind of just had an attitude during the whole transaction. 3 stars for food, 2 stars for service.

Eh its there and for what it is it is adequate. I also popped in here to escape the overly aggressive greenpeace people trying to enroll me.

ordered takeout from here for our office and it was the coldest, driest turkey burger I have ever had. The flavor was awful, the cheese was rubbery, and to top it all off they forgot my avocado. Rather than refunding me, the had it delivered an hour later, after I had already thrown out the burger… Hands down the worst lunch I have ever had in this city. I will never return! STAYAWAY!

Pretty good if you’re watching your weight but have cravings for fast food it’s the perfect alternative. The baked fries aren’t bad, a bit rubbery but I didn’t have high expectations for non-fried fries anyway! Also, a little bit of a wait, not as quick as other places.

Thank Science for Energy Kitchen. The calorie-counts really help esp. if you’re trying to be mindful about how much you consume. While their fare is not the most delicious food that I’ve ever had, for low-fat cuisine, it’s pretty good. I am in love with the cajun salmon, creamed spinach & edamame-corn salad. Their Thai Chicken wrap is also quite good. I tend to order lunch delivery to my office and they never take longer than 40 mins. Energy Kitchen wins my vote for low-cal and yummy food!

I rarely eat healthy. I love greasy fatty meats and cheeses, but I also love to live so every now and then I try to eat healthy. Enter Energy Kitchen. I’ve heard people rave about how their food is healthy AND delicious! I beg to differ. I’ve actually tried this place several times and eaten the meatloaf, veggie burger, grilled chicken, and turkey burger. I was slightly disappointed with each meal, but I guess that is expected of «healthy» meals. I would only resort to eating at this place on a more regular basis if my doctor told me that if I don’t eat healthier I would die. The food is bland and you pay a slight premium for eating healthy. All-in-all not horrible, just mediocre.

After a booty kicking boot camp class, I thought I’d better go the healthy route and try Energy Kitchen. They were advertising $ 5 burgers for April so I went for the Turkey burger w/o cheese. The patty itself was tasty and sizable while the wheat Kaiser roll was soft and nutty. But, I thought they slathered on too much bbq sauce which it made the burger soggy. Some lettuce and tomatoes would have been nice too.(Hint, hint.) This place in my mind was alright. I’m glad I tried it. Is it enough to bring me back again? Negative.

There’s a lot of claims on fresh healthy fast-foods; it’s almost an oxymoron if you ask me. You can still order a grilled chicken sandwich and for those that lack the will(like me), can order a side of fries, ice cream, onion rings, and chicken nuggets. Oops, there goes my healthy meal(and heart). And even if I ordered something semi healthy, for the most part, they aren’t the freshest ingredients; most of the meats have either been sitting there or everything eventually gets nuked in the microwave. What I like about Energy Kitchen though, is that they don’t even give you options to choose a unhealthy dish or sides. Yes, I like choices but sometimes I make the wrong ones, especially when it comes to eating healthy. Kudos for putting the calories on the menu. That way, I can count up to my daily intake and eat even more so that it doesn’t go over my calorie intake.(mentally calculating. so if I eat 3 of these dishes, I have X amount of calories left for dinner) But then again, who really is counting all the time? Subconsciously though, it’s cool and makes you feel that you are promoting a healthy eating lifestyle. I tried their turkey burger. For those that complain that there are no sauces and cheese and then dock points for that, shame on you! That’s the whole point of keeping the dishes low on calories; Adding that will negate the purpose. My turkey burger came in a whole wheat bun and had lettuce and tomato. Because it is what I expected, it came out well. Burger was juicy and flavorful, and not bad for lunch. For a side, I ordered the home style«BAKED» potatoes. Obviously, it will not be as good as the fried counterpart. The potatoes were seasoned well with spice. But like I said, if you go there knowing and expecting dishes would be baked, grilled, and cooked lightly with sauces, then the outcome is good. If you expect to eat a greasy saucy meal, this is NOT your place. I will give it 3 stars because while the food is good, it can be bland to be eating occasionally. But once in a while, it’s acceptable. In the end, I did feel good that I ate a low-calorie lunch, which motivated me go to go the gym even more. Success!

This Energy Kitchen is a bit small compared to their other locations. This includes at lunch, which is generally a good thing for me! I had a coupon that was a little confusing, but i ended up being able to get $ 2 off(though I thought I would have gotten more off). I only mention this because I feel like the manager was a bit brush in trying to explain it to me, i.e., fairly not understanding that there could be any confusion with the coupon. My veggie burger was a bit soggy. It just didn’t do it for me once I brought it back to my office. I guess in the future I’d eat it in the Kitchen itself — or get something all together different.

BUFFALOCHICKENBURGER… BOMBBOMBBOMB lovin the specials they have every month. Juicy flavor explosion in your oral cavity. It tastes just like a buffalo wing-not so hot that you’re gonna cry but a nice zing to it. Comes on a whole wheat bun with celery bits and ranch dressing. The hot sauce and the dressing just ooze together. I am gonna be a regular here.

The food here is nothing remarkable, though I will probably continue to order from Energy Kitchen on Seamless in order to offset my multiple Restaurant Week dinners… So far I’ve tried the veggie burger and the kitchen chopped salad. The burger was amazingly bland — frozen Morningstar veggie-burgers are MUCH better flavor-wise — and the salad was forgettable. Eating healthy is all well and good, but I’m pretty sure there are more tasty alternatives that are just as healthy.

Ordered the bison egg white sandwich w 2 sides.(mashed sweet potatoes and creamy spinach). Food took a few mins to get ready which is fine bc i know they’re making it fresh. For $ 10, it was ALOT of food. Held me down for a breakfast and later heated the rest up for lunch. If you wanna eat healthy, i highly recommend this spot.

It was okay. The girl manning the counter seemed to be much more interested in talking with the cooks than taking orders. However, the number of walk-ins they get seem to be really low. Instead of wandering north after my work-out, I wandered south and found the Energy Kitchen on Christopher St. I stuck with what I knew was good: the tex mex wrap. I’d had that at 17th St. location and it was good. What sucks about the Energy Kitchen is consistency. It’s a franchise chain, so the appearance and the menu is the same. However, the tex mex wrap and the other wrap that I ordered at the 17th St location were just made better. They were longer and seemed to be a bit bigger. Beyond that, it tasted the same, so for taste consistency they’re good. I’ve tried three of these spots. Overall, the food is okay. The service is hit or miss. The menu is the same. I’d say the Chelsea/17th St. location is the best. They smile and give you what you pay for. This location, just gave me what I paid for but didn’t seem to care whether I was there or not.

Who, in a city that never sleeps, couldn’t use a bit of legal, good-for-you energy? I suspect for many the lure of healthful selections is the initial draw to Energy Kitchen. On my first visit I was seduced by a Thai chicken wrap. Nothing particularly bad about it. Then again, nothing really fantastic either. Still, I’ll probably give Energy Kitchen another go.

I really, really like this place. It’s the perfect alternative for when you want something fresh, healthy and filling — other than a salad. And let’s be honest, swimsuit season is almost upon us so I have a feeling EK will be seeing a lot more of me. Sooo, in honor of that itty bitty bikini, I fired up Seamless Web and had it delivered easy as pie to our offices(Psst: they offer a 20% discount via this route…) This time around I got the California Veggie Burger platter which comes with your choice of two sides(Total — $ 10 including tip!). I opted for the garden salad and mashed sweet potatoes(which were A-mazing) and all toppings/dressings come on the side so you can add exactly how much you want(or don’t!). Though I’m giving them minus one star because you forgot my ranch dressing(both times!). I can’t wait to try their breakfast, as well as the entrees. Can’t believe Chicken Parmesan can be good for me — and taste good! — but based on everything else I’ve tried, if anyone can do it, you guys can!
