This is my local Duane Reade. It’s smaller than most, but I really come here for the pharmacist, Steve. He is unfailingly helpful and goes above and beyond(recent example: dropped off a new rx that was pretty expensive; when he saw what it was(after I had left), he called a drug rep he knew was in the area to ask for coupons for me that would get me a significant discount). Go Steve!

I only come here because it’s close to my apartment. The staff is alarmingly and unsettlingly dreary. I know Hell’s Kitchen can get you down(it’s loud and gross), but gee wiz. Trips here are painful. I dread pharmacy visits in particular.

I came in here looking for a tasty beverage. I wasn’t in the mood for water or soda but something different. Sadly, they only had a small fridge with boring old stuff. I had to go elsewhere for my thirsty needs.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Super friendly, competent staff. Short waits. No pets allowed, thank goodness. Yeah! Some of the other reviews complained about this location being«too small.» What the heck are you all complaining about?! Cry babies! Small is beautiful! Unless something dramatic happens, I will be a customer here for as long as I live in the hood.

This Duane Reade is far too small, and offers very little in the way of helpful products. Since there are are good deal of _much_larger Duane Reade’s in the surrounding vicinity, I can’t really give any good reason as to why you’d go to this one for most purchases. The staff is very friendly and the store is well kept, but the rest of the store is pretty disappointing.

Well… uhm…I mean… it is New York… and small spaces happen… and this is an area with small neighborhood stores… and you can just walk over a few blocks to a much larger, more Manhattan/chain store… and I guess I just didn’t realize what I was walking in to… but this is the kind of Duane Reade I’d expect to walk into while in the 104th and Madison(yup…y’all know them Project Houses of which I speak), not while in one of more expensive real estate areas of the city… as a matter of fact, I’ve been to the Duane Reade in that other area of town… and it’s 4 – 5 times the size, much cleaner, and has much more light. The Duane Reade is really like a bodega and a Duane Reade had an affair… and out popped a little mixed baby store. It’s not the cleanest… it’s rather small… when you walk in you encounter a newspaper rack instead of the circular rack… there are three aisles… minimal choices… and the cashier was more interested in having a conversation with her girl and making sure she got her lotto ticket than attending to the growing line. Mind you, she was very professional — in her way — when she actually wrung up my items. But, I’m sorry. I’ll walk a few more blocks to avoid this one in the future.

Just about the teeniest little Duane Reade you’ve ever walked into. Good for filling out prescriptions, getting the most basic of necessities, and maybe stocking up on some mixers and pouched margaritas. Since it is SOOOO freaking small, it doesn’t boast the variety of the 42nd St DR. But it does the job when you’re on 9th.
