Pharmacist Iryna(sorry, I don’t remember her last name), is great. Not only she’s very organized and makes it super fast when I decide to wait for my prescription/pickup to be ready, but also she seems to have a nice personality(which is rare in NYC pharmacies), and it’s easy to talk to her and/or ask for her med.advice.

First off let me just say that I worked in customer service at a gym for a few yrs and every day I was challenged by people with really nasty attitudes HOWEVER I always kept a smile on my face and acknowledged them while speaking in a pleasant tone. I was always aware that there was a chance we would get secret shopped and just because I was unhappy with my job at that point in my life I didn’t make the customers pay for it by being rude. That brings me to today when I stopped in this Duane Reade just before 9am and asked an African American woman working the floor wearing all black about verifying the price of a blow dryer. I had a mini blowdryer and an ultra-mini blowdryer, by the same brand-both costing 24.99 which I felt was an error. I asked the woman about the price, and her response was«I don’t know» to which she proceeded to continue talking to her coworker as if I was invisible. I put both the blowdryers back on the shelf and walked out. I will not be returning.

The pharmacists here are amazing! I’ve never had pharmacist go out of their way for you. I could pay less with my insurance mail-in plan but I keep my scripts here because of the pharmacist. They take the time to explain things and make sure you have what you need.

This Duane Reade has a really nice older gentleman that is super sweet and professional. But the store itself is not well kept and their inventory mgt is in the toilet. I witnessed A lady with bad curly weave decline selling liquor to a Mexican man who was clearly over 40 because his Drivers license was worn out. I felt bad for the guy because you could tell he was a manual labor and he probably kept his license in his back pocket… I would have bought the beer for him but I didn’t have my wallet on me. The staff is a bit rough around the edges… but if you see and an elderly black man at the register, show him kindness because he serves you with dignity and also allow preserve yours. I went in their one day when I had a hard day and I felt like he was sensitive enough to do his job and not frustrate me while i was emotionally charged yet silent.

I just went in here and in addition to my purchase got $ 20 cash back. Walking out the door I realized that the cashier forgot to give me the cash so went back. She immediately realized she hadn’t given it to me and did so. The manager then says to her, «are you sure you didn’t give it to her?» — essentially accusing me of stealing! The cashier responds, ‘yes, i remember just shutting the register and giving her her receipt”. The manager proceeds to stare at me all the way out the door. Rude manager!

First, I don’t even know why there is a DR at this location, with 4 or 5 good DR stores in the immediate neighborhood. This place is just dingy and tight, and that’s apparently making the workers b!+chy. As though that weren’t enough, it’s pretty much always closed unless you go between 9 and 5 p.m. What’s up? I just go to the one on William or their mega store at Fulton/Water. They are much better, and the workers are much, much nicer.

This location is somewhat small and customer service is non-existent with nasty, bitter and rude staff to intimidate clients away from patronizing this location. I agree with the stinky hours of operation as well as lack thereof handicapped assessibility. Blah!

This Duane Reade sucks and here are the reasons why: 1. First of all, all duane reades suck and are a complete rip off. 2. This one closes at about 6 or 7pm daily, as well as closed completely on Saturdays and Sundays. Lovely. The lazy disinterested half-assed staff must love their nights and weekends off. 3. Their pharmacy is completely incompetent(more so than most other DRs). The pharmacist was a total retard, did not speak english, had no fucking clue about anything behind the plastic shield, was lazy and quite a fucking bitch. 4. This Duane Reade is a very new Duane Reade, so why the fuck does it look like it was built in 1976? Updating the décor would be a nice idea. Why are there ceiling pieces falling in and chunks of tile missing? 5. Staff is completely unhelpful and lazy, except for one old man who tends be very nice and pleasant to interact with. 6. Also, why do they all wear gloves when working? I understand hygiene and cleanliness but come on, touching dollar bills and sodas is not that repulsive. That said, this DR sucks just as much as all the others do, but I run into this one moreso than others, since its my local one thus hate this one more.

Well, if you’ve been to Duane Reade, you know what you’re going to find here. That said, a few things of note. The doors to enter and exit aren’t handicapped accessible. I almost feel like I’m going through some kind of security system – you open a door, enter a vestibule, and then go through another door to get in or out. And sometimes, that door which allows you into the store or onto the street is locked – FUN! I find this location to be dim and dingy. I’ve blown dust off a number of items so I’m gathering the turnover isn’t high here; most likely due to the fact that there’s another DR around the corner and up the hill which is two floors – this one is one floor. I’ve found certain products at this Duane Reade that I haven’t found around the corner at the other location. Beverages are ALLTHEWAY in the back of the store and they never seem to have sparkling Poland Spring refrigerated. There is typically a line, but hey, it’s Duane Reade! There’s supposed to be!
