Dig Inn is a nice option if you’re looking for a relatively quick bite to eat and a healthier meal. The food preparation can vary quite a bit though. Sometimes it’s great and other times some of the dishes aren’t seasoned well or the grains can be under cooked. There’s not too much of a difference between the small and large plates, so I’d opt for the smaller size. Seating is also cramped, so unless you’re going at an off peak time I’d plan on taking your food to go. Also, it’d be great if they could bring back their sandwich menu!

I really like Dig Inn and am glad they’re doing well enough to expand. Their commitment to local, seasonal ingredients is really cool, something I wish more eateries would try. But Dig Inn’s not just a good concept; they also serve really good food. This week, I ate here two days in a row for dinner, so the menu was nearly identical both nights. The first time I got a large plate, and on night two, a small. Proportionally, both plates were about the same, and I struggled to finish all that I was served. The sides were good, full of flavor(seasoned with what I assume to be citruses — healthy, tasty, clean), but the real star was the grilled tofu. Tofu tastes like nothing, which is why I’m so impressed by whatever magic Dig Inn performed to get their tofu to taste delicious enough to order two nights in a row. Will definitely be retuning to Dig Inn in the future.

Digg Inn is good if you’re looking for something wholesome and relatively healthy. However, if you’re looking for flavor– skip it. They rarely change their menu so that also gets boring. If that’s not enough, the prices are just too high for comfort. It’s frustrating that to get a healthy meal in NYC or the US in general you have to pay astronomical prices.

I love, LOVE Dig Inn. I’ve never been disappointed by food quality nor portion size. And it’s cute in a farmy way. Packed with CU hipsters but hey, that’s ok, we’re all bonding over the delightful iced tea.

This is my on-and-off lunch place. The large vegetable plate is by far the best value in terms of quantity and quality, as I find that the meat options I’ve tried — while tasty for the most part — each tend to have some nagging issue. The steak tends to be very chewy and sinewy, which makes the otherwise-welcomed medium-rare seem a bit alarming. The chicken comes in pre-sliced bits, and some bits are very dry while others are perfectly cooked. Definitely would recommend the sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, the kale side dish(forgot what’s in it exactly, but it has made a kale fan out of me), and the broccoli-garlic side(haven’t seen this in a while, and hope it comes back). The cost of iced tea here has gone up from about $ 1.75-ish to well over 2 bucks. That’s pretty disappointing, as I’m shelling out more money for an unchanged product that in all likelihood costs Dig Inn the same few cents to make as it did a few months ago when the price was much lower. Also, on my last visit, I saw the employees draining the contents of a tea dispenser into a tub of murky-looking liquid, which made me lose my appetite quite a bit as I was filling my cup right next to the grimy fluid. This kind of clean-up should be saved for closing time, and should not be done in front of customers. That brings me to the reason I can’t give 5 stars as much as I would like to: there are moments of blatant unprofessionalism that have yet to be addressed in my 1+ years of going here. Things like the tea clean-up mentioned above, as well as employee-to-employee communication during peak hours(some employees are terse and even just plain rude to their co-workers if they aren’t moving fast enough). I’ve worked in the service industry for a long time, and there are ways to get across those kinds of messages in a professional way that respects one’s co-workers and the customers as well. Also, when some employees are on their lunch break, they tend to get inappropriately vocal in the dining area(very loud laughing and talking, to the point of it being borderline-obnoxious) and I recall on a recent visit one of the employees was playing music on her phone while eating. I get it, you work there and it’s kind of like«home»…but it’s not your living room. This was off-putting to me and several other customers, and should be addressed by upper-level management in this location. I can’t imagine what makes certain employees think this is acceptable behavior just because they aren’t on the clock — and in Dig Inn uniform, no less. Secondly, some employees are unfamiliar with certain aspects of the menu(especially splitting a side into two half-sides). There is also variation in the quantity of food among different employees, which often tends to lean toward the skimpy side. The quality of the food itself, however, overshadows the staff issues just enough to make me continue considering Dig Inn as a viable lunch spot.

It’s good, but I cannot accept the taste of some of their vegetables…

Dig Inn is consistently on-point for its healthy selection, affordable prices, and tasty choices. It is a favorite of mine in the«fast casual» segment. It is rare to be able to eat delicious and healthy food at this price range. The restaurant focuses on market plates, consisting of a protein(can order vegetarian with tofu or no protein) with two sides and rice(several choices). There is a large size that makes for a very filling meal. The protein options include grilled steak, salmon, chicken, and meatballs. The sides include delicious Mac n cheese, Brussels sprouts, and kale salad, among other choices. Additionally, there is a salad bar option. There are also a wide selection of fresh iced teas, all of which are very delicious. Overall, expect price range for a meal(plate + drink) between $ 12 – 15. Very reasonable given the quality of the options.

For the amount I paid($ 11 for a small plate), I wouldn’t say that this place is reasonably priced. I got the steak, brussel sprouts, and mac and cheese and everything was just ok. They gave me about three bites of mac and cheese; it didn’t even fill the entire slot in the package! The steak was bland and mac and cheese didn’t taste like it had any cheese at all. I was pretty disappointed after hearing so many things about it. I ate it all because I was hungry, but by the end I was already thinking about what I’d be having for dinner…

Awesome food in a quaint space. Some outside dining area. Farm to table foods cooked delightfully for any palate. Don’t come warning a soda… if it’s got chemicals it won’t be here which I . I would eat here everyday if I lived here.

Farm to table meets fast food. I had been recommended this place by a few people so I when I saw it was open at Columbia I had to go check it out. I came on a weekday afternoon around 2pm and there was no line. I feel like I needed directions of how this place worked, but luckily the man behind the counter was super nice and helped me out and explained how it works. Basically you get a grain, a protein, a hot side, and a cold side. The dishes vary by season, week, stock, etc. I got the farro with butternut squash, the roasted chicken, brussel sprouts with orange/citrus oil, and kale and granola salad. The farro and the kale salad were both absolutely amazing. The perfect mix of sweet and savory thanks to the butternut squash and the granola. The chicken was pretty solid and the brussel sprouts were average. For fast food, nothing was too greasy which is a plus. It’s a little pricey, but makes sense for a trendy farm to table healthier take on fast food place. I don’t know how healthy it actually is. but in my book I’ll consider it healthy :)

If, like me, you’ve recently realized you can’t eat«whatever you want» forever, you’ll be thankful for Dig Inn. This chain is serving clean, farm-to-table food to the masses — and at an affordable price. I ordered the grilled tofu over farro with a side of the kale/curried squash and the roasted pumpkin and pesto carrots. It was all really good. And this is coming from someone who doesn’t love kale or tofu. I’ll definitely be back!

My friend and I came here after a long day of studying. We were both feeling really shitty and overwhelmed with our lives and despite my pestering about going to eat something unhealthy and bad to make ourselves feel better about being bad, he stuck true and fast to eating at Dig Inn. His rationale was that he would personally feel worse if he ate something super greasy and unhealthy at this time … I guess he’s not a fan of unhealthy comfort food. But anyway, since I’ve never been to Dig Inn and one of my other friends has been raving about this place, I figured, why not? I could probably do myself some good and eat something relatively healthy. Dig Inn Seasonal Market is a small place that serves a lot of locally sourced, non-GMO foodstuffs. You line up and get a tray filled with your choices. I ended up getting the whole grain with chicken, upstate macaroni and cheese, and the kale and granola salad. After awkwardly maneuvering my way into my seat with my giant student backpack, I was finally ready to eat my healthy meal. After a slight struggle ensued between me and the plastic cover, I was ready to … Dig Inn.(Haha, get it? I’m so punny.) The chicken was very flavorful and mixing it with the whole grains was a good choice. I’ve been trying to explore other carbohydrate options and so the fact that I was able to choose whole grains was very satisfying. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and the macaroni was cooked to perfection. The kale and granola salad had a great flavor and whatever dressing was drizzled over this salad really blended the kale and granola together in a great way. The best part, in my opinion, was the fact that if you ate each of these things together(as in, chicken, whole grains, macaroni and cheese, and the kale salad [or a combination thereof] in one bite), it would still taste great. There are some foodstuffs that taste great by itself but awful when its combined with other things, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that all these flavors don’t overpower each other when eaten together and that they actually go extremely well together. I’m not sure if anyone else eats like that(but I’m sure there’s SOMEONE out there who does) so this little bit might sound gross — feel free to skip it or purge your brain of this image. Overall, I really like Dig Inn. I think its a little pricey, maybe, but when I’m trying to be healthy, I’ll probably come here.

My friend will not stop raving about the corn on the cob she ate for lunch today at Dig Inn. I got a big market plate with steak. Portion size is good but man, what an awful piece of steak. It was tough, chewy, flavorless and underdone. I do like my steak rare but having to chew a slice of almost raw beef for 10 minutes is not pleasant. My receipt says the steak was grilled and chilled. Why chill it??? I got lentil and squash as sides and both were great choices.

Absolutely fantastic food. I love the concept and the execution was great. Moves like a Chipotle line(super fast service), tastes like fine dining. Has this great, open, fresh ambience. Think wood furniture and lots of daylight. I also loved their book selection — I was perusing their copy of Pollan before my friends arrived. I ordered the grilled salmon with sweet potatoes and their seasonal veggies. The salmon was delicious and grilled to perfection. It was topped with this lovely green sauce(peas, maybe?) and sat on a bed of some type of savory grains that was also amazingly flavored and soft in texture. The sweet potatoes were roasted so nicely — slightly crispy on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth smooth on the inside. And the seasonal veggies(spinach and some other veggies) were fantastic. Flavoring was so nice and clean. Nothing was bland or boring. I was so impressed. Also had their vanilla mint tea, which was delicious and refreshing. Cannot recommend this place enough. You literally feel so healthy and good about yourself after you eat here(successful marketing or just damn good food?). I’m definitely coming back.

The food I’m generally a fan of. I like their flank steak(really good!) and meatballs. Their warm side dishes are all pretty good(especially the Mac and cheese) and as far as cold I would recommend the spinach and mango salad. Great dressing in it. I’d stay away from the lentils(way too much celery but I’m not a fan of celery.) Really close to main campus Columbia(whenever you have to take Butler library break.) The entrance is between the tables they placed outside. It’s a weird set up they have between the entrance and the exit. They have a rest room. Staff is apathetic but get the job done. Pretty solid option in the neighborhood– gives you variety, good portions, and mostly healthy!

The last time I was working in this area, I was not able to come here, but had looked over all of the great reviews — next time! Today was my day for Dig In! I brought a couple of co workers with me and they were both impressed! As you walk in and up to the counter you are greeted by friendly servers, they happily explained the system to me, one meat over grains and two sides. They even gave a sample of the bulgar wheat grain. There is a selection of proteins served over a bed of grains; today was bulgar wheat and brown rice. They have two sizes small and large, the serving plates are the same but it goes by weight. They have a selection of sauteed vegetables and starches including roasted sweet potatoes and a mac and cheese. you can also pick a cold side. They also have sandwiches and salads. Everything was really fresh, they were constantly replacing the foods. The motto here is locally sourced farm to table in a fast food setting. I didn’t see that the food was organic, but it did taste very good. I had steak over bulgar wheat with spinach and brussel sprouts along with a passion fruit tea. Steak was a medium — medium rare, nice char on the the outside very tender. The bulgar wheat was delicious, almost like a fried rice. The spinach was very fresh but not cooked all the way down, it still had a nice crisp and sauteed with onions and garlic, brussel spouts were also cooked well, not mushy at all! Although this food is a better choice, I did note the veggies were nicely salted and cooked in an olive oil. The iced tea had a clean taste, not too sweet. The prices were reasonable $ 13 for everything! The place is small and cramped(like most spaces in the city) they are applying for a permit to have outside seating. Fresh daisies at all the tables is a nice touch. Lots of reclaimed wood and exposed brick make this place visually appealing. I’m glad I was able to come, and will definitely visit again.

I love its small veggie plate. For 3 «sides/toppings» plus your choice of rice, it comes out at $ 5.01. Also, they accept LevelUp here! During lunch and dinner hours, it is usually really crowded with Columbians so don’t expect a seat. If you are here for a regular entrée with a choice of meat, then you get 2 sides. For example, if you get chicken with rice, you get to choose two additional(veggies/sides) toppings. If you are getting the veggie plate, then you get rice with one veggie choice, plus two additional(veggies/sides) toppings. It has a good variety of healthy choices. I have been here multiple times and each time, I saw something new! Good marketing strategy for keeping college students coming back here! I’ve never tried other items on the menu and if you are super hungry, the costs add up quickly and you may spend more than you want here.

So… this place is the worst. I came here during the holiday season, in search of a healthy lunch after eating nothing but cookies for a few hours. Normally I don’t eat out in the area because there aren’t a lot of options, but coworkers raved about this place so I figured… sure. How wrong they were. The moment I got in there, it was like I was at a midtown Chop’t or something. People were screaming, waiting for food, and the line was moving slowly. Finally, I got up there and ordered salmon, butternut squash and brussel sprouts. The girl barely cooked my pre-grilled salmon, threw some CARROTS on my plate(not butternut squash). I tried to get them to give me the butternut squash, but they were like, «THISISBUTTERNUTSQUASH!» Meanwhile, the people in line behind me get irritated. I finally just move along and pay an astounding $ 13 for my meal. Are you kidding me? While the brussel sprouts were fine, the salmon was not only cold, but also not cooked. Not. Cooked. Raw in the middle. I love sushi, but this was not the time for that. Onto the carrots, which were indeed carrots, not butternut squash. Wtf? I’m never coming back to this overpriced sh! tshow, and am praying to the New York City food gods that Sweetgreen moves near campus soon.

I’ve come here a couple of times during different times of the day. If you visit here during peak lunch hours(during the summer) it can get very hot and stuffy in side of the restaurant. Don’t get fooled by the lines b/c they may look long but they move fast. I’m totally addicted to the spicy meatballs which I have eaten probably 4x in the past 1 – 2 months. If you get a small, it’s 3 meatballs, a large is 5 meatballs. I was feeling greedy once and got the 5 and it was definitely too much food. The meatballs taste homemade, with none of the extra grease and other nonsense that may sometimes be in meatballs when you dine out. They give you a choice of rice or grain, I prefer the grain. My fav sides has been the sautéed kale with lemon juice, and the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese is on the heavier side so if you’re not a fan of lots of cheese, try something different. I’ve tried the kale and pineapple salad, eh, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t memorable either. I love how they have like 5 different choices of tea. My fav is the passion fruit one. If you dine in the restaurant you can have unlimited tea! I will definitely be returning and trying the other entrees. If you want a reasonably priced, healthy meal, come to dig inn!
