Ok here’s the deal — it took me a long time to try Dave’s because of the price point. But after paying over $ 10 on boring salads day after day, I decided it was time to give this place a shot. Now I’m kicking myself! I ordered the roast beef sandwich with«The Works» and holy moly it… was…killer! It comes with a bunch of high end ingredients like artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, sharp provolone and chopped hot cherry peppers. But — my favorite part is the hoagie sauce — it is out of this world! It’s like a creamy balsamic packed with soo much flavor; I just can’t get enough. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! The roast beef was perfectly rare and the bread soft enough to bite through without all the innards spilling out. I now crave this flavor combo all the time. This my friends is not your typical sandwich! It makes me a bit upset to see some Unilocalers say Dave’s is overpriced — I think you get what you pay for here and it’s not a small hoagie by any means. Fidi is filled with $ 17 bland burgers and, with $ 10+ being the norm for lunch these days, I’m happy to pay $ 11 for a superb sandwich. In conclusion I want Dave’s to be around for a looong time so don’t wait like I did — you’ll be sorry you didn’t try it sooner! :)

This place is such a find. The customer service was excellent. The guy at the counter was super nice, the person making the sandwich took loving time to make it right. It isn’t a chop shop, it’s a sandwich shop and if it takes two extra seconds to make it right — I’d rather pay a buck or two extra for it. Also, I was in and out in less than five minutes. Finally, the sandwich — it was excellent! It was made with real meats, that are quality, with fresh toppings and the cherries /artichoke give it the vinegary flavor that I love in a sandwich. Great place and I will definitely return. Thanks Dave’s Hoagies!

Popped in for a meatball sandwich and was not disappointed at all. Fast service, delicious food. Price is a little high but that is the only down side.

Long story short, this place is not very good and is definitely overpriced. The bread was good and the toppings and meat we’re quality, but all things considered, the price per square sandwich inch was some of the highest I’ve seen in the city. I mean it’s like I paid for a night at the Plaza and actually got the La Quinta in K town. Let’s just say I will not be a repeat customer. Side note, I went in there because I read an article that they had $ 8 sandwiches for national sandwich day(usually $ 11), and when Dave rings me up he charges me the full price, which is actually closer to $ 12. Even when I mentioned the article, he said that deal was only for the meatball sub. Thanks Dave, great customer service telling me I’m wrong even though the article failed to mention it was only for meatball subs, I’ll be sure to come back soon.

I may have just eaten the best sandwich ever, which is a bold statement considering sandwiches are pretty much my favorite food — My office ordered a few different ones to split off the menu, all got rave reviews from the group. I sampled the Turkey, Roast Beef, and Meatball sandwhiches which were all so tastely — I wasn’ t sure if i was going to want«the works» but I would have been a fool to not have had it on there.

It’s been hard to find a good sub place in the financial district, so I was really excited when I found Dave’s. The plus side is their Italian sandwich is great and makes you wonder why anyone would ever go to Subway. Downside is the definitely the price. I’m happy to go here every once in a while if I’m willing to spend some extra money, but there are definitely other places where you can get a great sandwich that doesn’t bust your wallet. Considering they’re fairly new, I’m hoping the price will drop as they settle into the area a bit more.

I walked into this place with three other co-workers at 12:15 on a Thursday for lunch only to be greeted with«i am too busy right now to serve you» by the guy behind the counter(maybe Dave himself). He told us he can’t serve us because he is «backed-up» with a big order… then he gave us the option to wait awhile. Stupidly, we waited. The woman who made our sandwiches, who seemed to be the only other person employed, was miserable. My sandwich was $ 12.50. And when I got back to my desk, I could barely eat it because it looked and tasted like dog food. Their food is disgusting and their service is worse. You’re better off going to Jersey Mike’s a block away for better service, much better sandwiches and half the price.

I am sitting at the table at the window, reading my magazine, looking out the window at the nyc winter, and enjoying the vegetarian with the works(but no hot cherry peppers). A nice peaceful moment. I discovered this place over a year ago. Amazing hoagies. I switched jobs, but happen to be in the neighborhood tonight for a meeting and headed straight here to Dave’s. I don’t know what they put in the hummus in the vegetarian, but it is amazing. Dave is super nice, knows his ingredients.(I am not just being biased because we’re both from the Philly area.) I don’t write Unilocal reviews often, but this place deserves one. Go. Enjoy. Its a little pricey, but on par with most food in Manhattan worth eating. I’ve also had the roast beef before — also good. Very fresh ingredients.

I like a sandwich that’s got variety, so Dave’s Hoagies is right up my ally. I ordered the Italian with the works. I love the fact that this sandwich has hot cherry peppers and artichokes, giving the overall taste some zing. Unlike the other reviewers, I didn’t think the sandwich was lacking meat, but the veggies/toppings definitely take up most of the room on the sandwich. If you like meaty sandwiches, this place probably won’t satisfy you. But if you are like me and just watched the documentary«Forks Over Knives» and decided that a all-plant-based diet might be in your future, this is a good stepping stone to still getting some meat on your sandwich, but finding yourself satisfied with the veggie-heavy meal. And to the comments about the size, mine measured 8 inches as well. But, I try not to eat too much at lunchtime, lest I get zonk out during an afternoon meeting, so this was the perfect size. In fact, I scarfed down half in about 3 minutes and am currently staring at the other half, trying to decide if I have room to eat it… I do wish the bread could be toasted, but that’s just a personal preference of liking softer bread. P. S., Dave is super friendly!

Read about this place in the NY Daily News and was finally able to give it a try as I was stuck at a worksite in the area on Tuesday. I had the«Italian» with«the works». A tasty, albeit expensive, sandwich.($ 11, plus tax)

I ordered the Italian hero expecting an actual Italian hero. What I recieved for $ 11.00 was two pieces of salami and a piece of provolone cheese. It was the worst looking sandwhich I ever had. I would have been better off going to Subways. Do not eat at this wanna be sandwhich shop. The Daily News reporter who did a story on this place must be a food idiot or not a real New Yorker. For a real Italian Hero go to Parisi on Mott Street.

Really great customer service ! I ordered a hoagie online from seamless, the turkey because it was gluten-free. I added a delivery note to please make sure the bread was gluten-free and they called me as soon as the order confirmation went through saying that though the turkey was gluten-free the bread they had was not. False advertising on their part which I’m upset about, but they did provide me a nice alternative of making it a salad instead, and also made a point of letting me know that they weren’t sure if the cheese was gluten free so to be safe they wouldn’t put it in, and leave the dressing on the side. Overall the food was pretty good, I’m just upset I didn’t get a gluten-free sandwich like I was looking forward to, and would have ordered from elsewhere. They really should clarify that on the menu page as it seems intentionally misleading, and they have said that this has happened a couple of times before. If anyone with celiac disease orders from here without clarifying they need gluten free bread, it could lead to some serious issues.

Amazing hoagie. I got the turkey with the works and each flavor complements the others nicely. Dave’s Hoagies is a great place to stop if you’re looking for a quick lunch with top notch ingredients

Very friendly staff. They even offered free samples of their soup and helped me decide on a sandwich. Unfortunately, I have a HUGE appetite and the sandwiches here are small, and not cheap. I had the tuna sandwich, yes, it was delicious, but I was still hungry and had to buy more food. Make them sandwiches bigger!

I love ordering Dave’s Hoagies for lunch! I usually go for the Prosciutto Sandwich, but they also have lots of other options including Italian, Roast Beef, Turkey and Veggie. Their delivery time is usually on point and the sandwiches are never soggy when they arrive at my office. Each sandwich comes with The Works — a wide array of items including the usual suspects of lettuce, tomato, onions, peppers, but also other items such as artichoke hearts and Dave’s Hoagie sauce. I ordered my first sandwich with everything and then I scaled back from there as I found things I thought I could do without. I like the concept, though, of giving you everything by default and then you can say what you DON’T want instead of having to tell them(or in my case, check a bunch of boxes on Seamless) each item. The meat is good — I like the amount of Prosciutto they give you. While more prosciutto is always better(in my opinion), I didn’t feel cheated by the amount that was on the sandwich. The best part, though, is the bread! Dave’s uses fresh bread from Parisi’s Bakery(fantastic bakery on Mott St) that’s always sooo good. If you’re in the area or ever order delivery for lunch, give Dave’s Hoagies a try!

About a month and a half ago I walked by Dave’s Hoagie on my way to another place for lunch but I decided to give this place a shot instead. I’ve since been back three times. I agree with other reviewers that the sandwiches are really pricey but the quality of the meat and toppings(the bread is not top quality) is far exceptional. My favorite are the hot peppers, hoagie sauce, and artichokes. The employees are always consistent with friendly, speedy service which I really appreciate at lunch in lower manhattan. Get the Italian with the works, you won’t be disappointed.

Went in for first time and I will come back if I am in the mood. I got the Italian with the works and it was good. Prices are a little high but the quality offset that. The sandwich was well made although a little messy. I liked the toppings and didn’t find the red peppers overpwering. It was nice to get something different in terms of meat. The genoa salami, coppa, and sopresatta were nice. People were nice. They are on Belly but the monitor didn’t scan mine.

A tasty, filling sandwich. Ordered an Italian with the works which includes artichokes, chopped cherry pepper spread, roasted red peppers, and Dave’s special sandwich sauce(see photo). That with chips came to $ 13.00. I like artichokes but I think I’ll skip these next time. You can also get any of there sandwiches without bread… ala salad. Seems like a great spot to add into my workday lunch rotation.

Did your delivery guy show up an hour earlier than requested? Yes. Were the sandwiches kinda soggy because of this? Yes. But, everyone seemed to enjoy their orders so I’ll chalk it up to being a new restaurant. The«gluten-free» labeling of both the turkey and roast beef hoagies and then advertising daily deliveries from Parisi Bakery is disconcerting. There weren’t any noticeable differences between the bread(we ordered one of each sandwich) and so as I write this, I’m wondering if I’m about to be very sick… stay tuned.
