I visited this place based on the high recommendation of a friend. The verdict: Cupcakes(sampled): Mocha Buttercup and Vanilla Chocolate Price: $ 2.50/cupcake(small) Moistness of Cake: Both cakes had a dry, airy, and light chocolate flavor. Decoration/Taste: The decorations were so pretty I almost didn’t want to eat it. I definitely have to give these guys extra brownie points for the amount of time they spent in designing their cupcakes. The filling was just right: not too sweet or creamy and it was just enough so that it wasn’t overbearing to the cake. If you ever feel like impressing your mother, grandmother, or any woman in your family, I’d say grab some of these to go for them!

The cupcakes are beautifully decorated and very unique. The set up is cozy and quaint, and the people are lovely. I’ve been here twice, and the place is adorable. But dry cake is an unforgivable food sin. The cupcake is dry as the Sahara — it boggles my mind how this place has been open so long.

I took my friends visiting from NJ here because my sister recommended the place. I think the décor was very quaint and eclectic. I had such high expectations for this place. I picked a vanilla cake with chocolate butter cream. It was beautifully decorated with a pretty blue flower on top. The store keeps cupcakes both in the fridge and in a warmer to keep it at room temperature. I picked the room temperature option only to find my cupcake super dry. The butter cream wasn’t bad because it wasn’t overly sweet. Overall, I’ve had better cupcakes elsewhere. The only nice thing is that there was no line and we were the ONLY customers. I was embarrassed I had taken my friends here because there are probably better cupcake options in NYC.

The Cupcake Café is attached to the Books-A-Wonder store, which is a bookstore geared towards children. That might explain the cutesy décor at the café; I could even say the place was whimsical, with dancing cupcake statues and tables and chairs decorated with animals and ladybugs. The cupcakes themselves are decorated with flowers, with different flavors of cakes and frosting. Albeit very cute and appetizing-looking, the taste of the cupcakes were too sweet and somewhat generic. They probably add in a little more sugar for the kiddies! There were two sizes of cupcakes available: small and large. I was fine with sampling the small cupcakes. There was also coffee(for the parents), but even that was just mediocre/a little watery. Not bad, but not the best I’ve had. I guess after sampling cupcakes from Magnolia, other stores just can’t compare.

my friend and i stumbled upon this place– the place is adorable. The cupcake was almost too pretty to eat! It was beautifully decorated and it was quite tasty. I can understand why they do wedding cakes too! This place seems to be attached with a children’s book store, but it gives it a cute atmosphere. The chairs are covered with ladybug print and it is definitely kid friendly. The frosting wasn’t your typical frosting because i think the design of the cupcake requires a thicker consistency, but it was still delicate enough to eat! The apple cider was decent, but not worth the price. Go for two cupcakes instead! :)
