In this day and age, who doesn’t take credit cards? Pretty ridiculous. Get with the times! The food choices are also really limited and they run out of items; perhaps, they should learn to stock more if they want to get better business. Won’t be coming back here and do not recommend. Don’t waste your time here. The $ 10 Chicken Gratin tastes like the chicken you get on an international airline flight :/, i.e. food quality is subpar and not worth the $$. Also who gives a flimsy plastic fork to eat gooey chicken chunks with melted cheese in a cast iron dish? The fork itself was about to melt from the hot cast iron dish. Epic fail all around. Blah blah blah.

I would definitely come back for their lattes but food. eh. Btw, CASHONLY. Had to order and then go down the block to pull out cash so that was pretty annoying.

Cute hidden spot between 5th and Madison. You can hardly see it because the outside doesn’t stand out and it looks dark inside. You’d definitely spot Her Name Is Han right next to it with their bright exterior. My friend ordered the food for us: beef with rice, dumplings, salad, red velvet latte and green tea latte. The total was $ 24. Turns out the beef with rice was actually only mushrooms but it wasn’t anything special. The sauce didn’t leave an impression. The dumplings were ok. I think my favorite would be the two lattes. It’s nothing crazy because I’ve definitely tried them before in other places but I would say that’s the one thing I liked from my meal. It’s a nice spot to sit and chat with friends. I would go back for the lattes but not the food. They don’t take cards so remember to bring cash before you go. My friend and I had to look for a chase nearby since we already placed the order.

Love this place! It was cozy and cute. I wish I could sit there for a whole afternoon while enjoying the matcha latte. I liked how much detail that the barista paid while making the latte art. I would like to go back and try their food menu.

Only came here for the teddy bear lattes. The café is where Take 31 is which confused me at first… the lattes are good but the latte art is a biggg plus

Espresso and ramen? Yes. Also Japanese comfort food… curry, pickled, small tapas-y bites. Total hideaway in a not so warm part of town.

Red Velvet latte. Pretty sure it’s one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. I’m not sure if it was the unique flavor, the silky texture of the drink, or the adorable foam design, but I was definitely happy paying $ 5. I would describe this place as Asian hipster. Very modern design mixed in with Asian elements that I loved. It was a little dark for my liking, but still a cute café feel. The lattes is what I came in for, but I noticed that they had a pretty solid menu of food too. Looked very good from what I could tell by those who ordered around me. I’m excited to come back in and try the food, and of course, get another red velvet latte. Make sure you ask for the bear foam design!

Best way to describe this place is a hipster Japanese café. I love that I can come here for green tea latte(decorated with a cute bear/panda) and also sip on a bowl of brown, snack on gyoza(dumpling) or dig into a pork Katsura(fried pork cutlet). Oh, and I just looked up and realized they have draft beer on the menu, $ 2 Prices are reasonable, $ 3.5 for a latte, 3 gyoza, $ 3 dumplings, $ 9 ramen. I had the green tea latte which was creamy and a bit bit bitter. It was very filling and the latter art was a very nice touch!

This place has amazing food and great vibes. It’s one of my favorite places to eat in NYC. I ordered the red velvet latte(and requested a bear!) and the kimchee hanger steak sandwich. Like others have said, the red velvet latte probably doesn’t have much caffeine in it but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The hanger steak sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. It came in a large bowl on top of some salad and fries, which I didn’t expect at all! The steak was flavorful, the bread was warm and chewy, and the garlic aioli was the perfect condiment to bring the Korean-inspired sandwich together. I can’t wait to go back!

If you’re coming here for the bear latte art, make sure you request for it, or else they’ll give you the default leaf pattern. I came here looking forward to trying their green tea latte and red velvet latte. The green tea latte is okay and pretty strong, which is good. The red velvet latte has no tea or coffee in it, so it’s probably not a great option if you’re looking for something to keep you awake. That being said, it’s still a good drink to try. Tasted exactly like cake, almost like the birthday cake flavor. I liked it! AND it’s pink, so… I also managed to try some of their food. They changed the menu recently, so they don’t offer the combo meals anymore. I decided on the pork ramen and for $ 9, it was worth it. Portion was huge and the broth was tasty. The kitchen also closes at 2:30, so plan to come early if you want to get food. Overall, this is a nice small and simple place to get a pick-me-up and some simple food if you’d like. Would totally recommend it to everyone!

I’ve seen so many cute pictures and reviews from social media about this place so I wanted to try it out with my girl friend. We specifically requested for a bear latte art because my friend got a leaf last time and the employee commented on her Instagram picture and told her to ask next time if she wanted something different so we figured we can give it a shot to ask this time. We had two hours to spare and when we requested, the lady at the cashier said it would take a while but we said it’s okay. When the lady gave it to us, we did not get a bear. We got two leaf latte art and she was pretty rude as well. I am so disappointed of the lady employee’s attitude and my first visit here did not leave a good impression on me at all. I would think twice about coming here ever again.

Finally a Korean café that doesn’t give me an excuse that ordering a latte with soy milk is too hard to make latte art! DRINKQUALITY: I was warned that their coffees were strong, but honestly they were only half as strong as say. Klatch. And a third as strong as Intelligentsia. So pretty weak. The latte was moderately earthy and, like usual with most Korean cafes, less velvety in texture. It was still a good latte regardless. SERVICE: It’s very good for being a small-business coffee shop; it’s pretty personal and everyone here was pretty nice and welcoming. They were open to talk and they gave us the history of the place and what they were about. So I thought it was a nice change compared to what I usually expect in New York. ENVIRONMENT: It’s a weird set up, but I don’t blame them since they’re only open during the day and by night time it becomes a different restaurant. Regardless, it’s a good and clean enough place to sit down, enjoy a cup of coffee or to study.

I have to pre-face that I didn’t eat their food… but only ordered their matcha latte with almond milk($ 5 — it’s $ 4.50 if you get regular milk). I usually drink matcha because it’s a ‘good for me treat’ in comparison to other sugary coffee drinks but this was surprisingly delicious. It didn’t have that super bitter earthy taste that matcha normally has. It was perfectly sweet and earthy — balanced and yummy. The best thing about it was the bear design. All I had to do was ask(don’t be shy!) and they were super friendly and actually looked thrilled to make the bear :) Also because of the construction on this block this place is currently hard to find(I walked past it like twice) it’s kind of hidden — but it’s right next to IchiUmi so if you can’t find it keep I looking — it’s there! As I was leaving there were a lot of people coming in for lunch. Cute décor inside, dim lighting — perfect for a date or catching up with friends!

This place was a hidden gem and super cute. I ordered the macha latte and it was delicious. Great place to grab lunch or to hang out to do some work on your laptop.

One of my favorite spots in the city! They serve great coffee, matcha, and food. I think they recently revamped their menu, which has a variety of offerings like soups, salads, sandwiches, etc. Unfortunately, they removed one of my favorite items(the fried rice cake gnocchi). If anyone from cup & cup reads this, it would be GREAT if the gnocchi made a comeback ;) In my opinion, their best offerings are their drinks. Excellent coffees and my FAVORITE matcha latte in the city! I just tried their matcha bomb(small jar of iced matcha and espresso) and loved it! They usually serve both their food and drinks in large mugs(hence the name cup & cup). Also their latte art is super cute — it’s a real treat to get a teddy bear on top of my latte! If you stop by, make sure to ask for it. I suggest you get your food/drink to stay and enjoy their relaxed atmosphere and interesting décor — they have little lego art scattered around and a color changing cloud lamp hanging in the front(I have spent a lot of time here, yes.) Service is usually pretty friendly and chill, which is a plus. Some useful information — this is the daytime counterpart to take31 and they close around 4:30−5. Kitchen usually closes an hour before this. Also, they are not open on the weekends, which is a shame :(CASHONLY! Regardless, I have a lot of love for this place! Have been frequenting it for over a year now and don’t plan on stopping :)

«Meh. I’ve experienced better» is exactly right. Got a Matcha* bomb to go which has espresso, milk, and the aforementioned Matcha*. The bitterness from the espresso on top and especially the milk overpowered the Matcha*. There is a faint light bitterness from the Matcha* but not enough. The portion is super small as well, with much less Matcha*(less than an inch) than the stuff at Ippodo tea several blocks down with an obvious quality difference as well. I’d probably give the drink a 2.2 due to an imbalance of flavors, especially for the price. There was one other problem… ahem, queue the stars. *You might notice that I wrote«Matcha» *5* times. The drink was 4 dollars. I gave them a *5* and they didn’t give me back change. You might say it was since the drink was iced as in you pay .50 cents extra but the drink is iced normally. Service was a bit lackluster also. I wouldn’t have tipped. I’d call this an espresso bomb with a tiny Matcha shot instead. FYI, I asked for less milk(to make the drink bitterer) as I thought the milk would overpower both flavors which was definitely the case. The drink basically looked exactly like the photo they use which isn’t a good thing. In all seriousness, if you want to try an actual good Matcha drink, including an amazing Matcha Latte, go to Ippodo instead. For now it’s a 2 but the sandwiches looked pretty good. The espresso was also pretty good. If they properly gave me change, I’d probably give this a bare 3 otherwise.

Cup & Cup is a cute little coffee shop located in Koreatown. When I visited, there was construction in the area, so the sign above the shop was covered. Once inside, it had a nice atmosphere and vibe going on. The seating area near the window is slightly cramped, but my girlfriend and I were able to snag a nice round table. Luckily, this coffee shop was a few blocks from the bus stop that would take us back home to VA. With about an hour to spare, we decided to check it out. We ordered a green tea latte and a red velvet latte. They both came out fairly quick, and we, naturally, took multiple photos of the lovely latte art in our drinks provided by our barista. They were both very delicious! The red velvet was sweet; sweeter than the green tea latte. If you don’t like drinks that are sweeter than usual, I suggest you don’t order the red velvet latte. They serve different types of food that looks very delicious, based on the pictures on the menu and what we saw other people around us eating. I definitely intend to come back and try their food and many of their other espresso drinks. Oh, and this place is cash only. Luckily I had some cash on me at the time!

Cup & Cup is really more of a 3.5, but I round down, so a 3 it is. I popped in around 11AM and left wanting a bit more from the experience. First off, it was hard for me to spot the location. From what I could tell there was no sign that said«Cup & Cup», just a board by the front window which happened to have their name in a tiny font on a menu. Had I not recognized the lego décor on the walls I wouldn’t have known it was the place. It was relatively empty when I arrived, only one other table had people. The space is pretty large, not only having their front area, but also another section passed the brewing station. I was a bit lost having never been before and had to ask an employee where to go to pay, it was not obvious at all. I ordered the red velvet latte with a pig design, which for $ 4.50 was rather pricy for a cup of coffee. I proceeded to sit down and wait for it to be ready. As I sat there I had to shoo flies away, for some reason they had food sitting on a counter? I think it was supposed to be a display item for their new food menu, but it was attracting critters. Not very fun. After five minutes I got my latte delivered to my table and I was a bit disappointed, no pig design for me, but still pretty cute. Upon my first sip I immediately knew that I loved it. I wouldn’t really say that it tastes like red velvet, more like a vanilla bean or something along those lines. It’s sweet, but not overbearingly so. I wound up finishing it within minutes. However, I don’t think it actually has any type of caffeine in it? I spent the rest of the day fighting off the urge to sleep, which considering my caffeine tolerance means there must’ve been NONE. I can’t really give them a higher rating than a 3 because not only did I not have any of their food items, but the cleanliness of the establishment was questionable for me. I think I’ll come back another day and try some more stuff, but til then, a 3 it is.

When I was doing my photography project on coffee, I stumbled upon a picture from cup and cup, and I automatically got attracted by its different latte colors — green and red — and it’s cute teddy bear design! I attempted to come here a few times before I actually made it because it closes at 4pm(but really 4:30) I’ve came here at 3:50 once, planning to grab and go, but they allowed us to sit in until 4:30(though they did give us coffee in paper cups instead of glasswares). The matcha latte was delicious! Very rich in matcha flavors, creamy, and tasty! Plus, the design looks beautiful! Recently, I came here again to check out the food because they sound appealing and the prices are very affordable! Also, they put certain dishes in cups! They truly live up to their name cup and cup! I tried their Kimchi fried and pork belly bibimbap, and they were heavenly! Love their unique decors and ambiance! And their friendly service!

The first time I tried going to Cup & Cup at around 4 P.M., they had already run out of their signature green tea lattes. That was understandable, because of the high demand and the fact that they close relatively early. So I left to come back another time. When I went a second time, I only got the green tea latte. And after all the anticipation, I was very disappointed. The drink tasted like water with a slight hint of green tea flavoring. Otherwise, the ambiance is great. It seems like a great place to study/get work done. However, they definitely need to improve their products before I ever go back.
